The everfields as is known to the not-animals, is big, and spreads far and wide outside of the initial city. Could almost call it the foothills of the labs out to the area that spreads towards the plains or the scrublands. Not quite wild enough to be the ‘beyond’, and not developed enough to put housing or lab development here. Low growth except for grass and dottings of trees. Its more meadow clearing. With dirt paths sprouting little plant sprouts coming out of the tamped down dirt here and there. Instead of metal or plastic fencing holding the ‘park’ together, its hammered in log spikes, and twine ropes. Like the little fencing when someone just wants you out of the flower beds vs actually keeping anything in or out. Heck, someone can WALK over this fence and be none the wiser unless being a complete klutz. To an animal who isn’t green-blue colorblind like Kouta, the place is GREEN GREEN GREEN. Green ground, green trees, green bushes, blue sky… whats not to love? And less space taken up by those obnoxious horse things. Not everyone likes equillion holding up the racetracks, as a figure of speech. The only source of coverage is on the edges of where the everfields are turning wild, because the bushes are small here. If they cover up a small snox, that might be a lucky thing. Granted, if it can hide an adult estharne with a flaming skull ofr a head… yeah. How it looks to not-animal me. 1 Tbb 1

This wasn’t a usual outing for Kouta, as he has a bit of a skip in his step once the gate is closed off. He’s gonna go meet a girl dog! Does he know exactly what this means? Heck no. Granted, his playtime with Kitri the worginu ended up… well with puppies. He doesn’t know what to do with puppies. But his mate… is she his mate now?... she takes good care. And he likes her a lot. Granted, she’s also a lot BIGGER THAN HE IS. And hes’ not a puppy anymore. Swift watches the gate close behind her out of the corner of her eye. She’s...wary. This field has next to no coverage, and has mostly just grass, in a trap circle. Tracing the perimeter of the area with her eyes… she sees something on the opposite side of the field. And its big. Very big. No, extremely big. The grass is tall enough for some coverage but it is broad daylight, kind of chilly out and the wind occasionally buffets the grass. She's not used to sneaking around in grassy fields that aren't covered in any sort of coverage or of snow. 2 tbb 2

There’s no owners here to hold him back or to break apart any greetings. His tongue hanging out casually, as its a bit warm in the afternoon, Kouta scans the field ahead of him eagerly, waiting moderately impatiently for the girl to come. Thankfully this field has some toys in a box near where he’d been put in, and a burbling space to drink water. Nothing to eat though, but he ate recently. Plodding over to the toy box, the large and muscular male noses through the box with slight interest, opting for a slightly frayed tuggy rope. Something at least to sink his teeth into. The snox can feel the grass beneath her paws. Her paws with long fur that is more for the cold dusted ground of snow. Kind of like a little snowshoe. The occasional crunch of a fallen leaf underfoot. This… this isn’t her favorite location. There just isn’t any COVERAGE. In comparison to next to everything that the mansion ground had to offer, she's one of the smaller creatures that the snow grounds could find. No, pocket sized stupid do not count, not even those ridiculously resilient lemmings. The ones you can chuck in a frozen pond. 3 tbb 3

Although there isn’t any ‘coverage’ here in the field, there is a large oak tree in the middle of the field. Someplace he can go and get out of the sun for now, chew his tuggy toy and wait. He’s been called overly impatient before by Kitri, who keeps shoving him off sometimes for his eagerness. What, he’s excited is all. The tree is starting to make droppings that dust your back and face when they fall on you, as he comes up, more droppings fall from the tree. Droppings that fall from the sky are wet, these are not wet. Laying down with a comforted sigh, the ohou starts nomming the thick knot with his teeth. The squeaky donut is fun, but is also very loud. Prowling as close to the ground as she can be, because black snox against greenish yellow grass? Stands out like a sore thumb. She’s prowling… and approaching a tree. The tree is slight up on a bit of elevation of the hill, which when standing tall, doesn't look even that big. Hardly a grade or even an elevation. The season is before the cold, and dropping colors. With something beneath it. What is that? 4 tbb 4

The droppings from the sky are occasional, and not constant. Otherwise this tree would be butt naked with not a dropping on it. He's still young enough to believe that anything that falls from any sort of height is a dropping of sort. Tree dropping, sky dropping, dropping dropping, one gets the picture. One of the droppings brushes his face on the way down. Squinting a bit as a stray bit of hair gets into his eye, the ohou paws at his face with a soft whine. Ow… Where's a cat friend when you need him. He’d get this out of his eye… whine… The green eye waters, squeezing shut. It doesn’t hurt a lot but its painful enough to look around with his eye closed. Who knew, you can move your eyes when your eyes are closed. What did it mean? With his eyes closed, he doesn’t initially see the dark patch creeping along the ground nearby, but is it in his sight range anyhow. But he does smell them. Swift’s eyes are keener than her sense of smell. She can see something under the tree that’s in the field. Its big, and smells like a dog. Great, it must be a dog. Her instincts are on alert. Run? Or attack? 5 tbb 5

I smell you… he says to the air. Just loud enough to carry farther from the tree. I cannot see you, but I can smell you. There’s no specific direction to the scent, as he has learned how to track but not with his eyes closed! He sniffs the air carefully, not realizing briefly that he hasn’t opened his eyes. Are you ok out there? I smell you, you smell afraid! A whine… did he scare whatever is out there? Opening his eyes, there’s a sting in his eye again, and he starts pawing at his face again. Ouch ouch, hair in my eye, pain. Ouch…. Owwwww. The snox crouches in the grass, knowing that the wind has given her away positionwise to the large animal up under the tree. Canines in retrospect can communicate the basic language of dogs. But dialect/accent? Oof, theres a lot of miscommunication there. Fox creature don’t communicate the same as dog creature. More wild. The 'smell' part of what the dog's whine and woofs seem to say does get across, as well as 'see'. He can't see her, but can smell her. Well of course, his nose takes up the greater portion of his big stupid face. 6 tbb 6

A few crept steps closer, as the whatever it is doesn’t run away. Should’ve. Because the closer they get, the more accurate the smell is coming from said direction and Kouta could find them. He blinks several times to try and rid his eye of the pain but it doesn’t go away. It stings and makes his eye teary and its hard to see whatever is coming. On slightly closer inspection, the snox in the grass, still silent as the dog barks again, calling out that he, a definite male, can smell her, can see him now. Not perfectly, but what she can see… ooh. When did dogs get this hunky to look at. No, bad Swift, this isn’t the time to eyecandy the enemy dog. The closer she gets, the more her flight response screams to run away. But that will prompt a chase. No matter how fast a snox is, unless you make it down a hole in the end and into the rabbit warrens, you will likely be caught, and stolen away. She wasn’t stolen away from the mansion though. She went willingly away from the home of the mansion where she had been.

Do you not like me? Kouta wonders out loud with drooped ears and a sad downplay of his eyes. I want to say hello. Please come out. I won’t chase you… not immediately! What he could smell… smelled kinda chasey. Like his cat friend. Cat friend occasionally smells chasey but he has not chased his cat friend. Not… not del… deli… not like a bad chase. There are good chases. Moving his head left… than right… trying to zero in on a smell he definitely had now, and be waiting on it to get closer. Have you seen any girls? I’m here to meet a girl. The pawsteps pause. The snox can clearly hear the dog woofing and the occasional yip and bark. Such a deep sound to his size. Oh of course chase is part of dog talk. That's what dogs do; they appeal to the humans and chase things like the brainless blunders they are. Her rounded ear twitches. Because the basic bark language isn’t entirely misunderstood by all canines who may or may not have relations far up in the trees, but she definitely heard ‘meat’ and ‘girl’. He was here to meat a girl? …or was it MEET?

The snox connects the dots of such an unusually calm dog with the weirdness of being put into a place with no real coverage… before he does. She was here to meet something...and someone. Oh for fox sake… Swift’s ears flatten to her head with realization. And does not move closer, against what the dog wants. He wants to meet a girl, she’ll happily stay hidden. And he hasn’t connected the dots yet? Go figure. And here she was thinking it was just a trick. The scent is changing. Like when he once went past a smaller dog while out with his cat friend whose scent went from normal ‘dog’ smell to angry dog smell. Frantic smell. Fear smell? He sniffs the air again. Unhappy smell. He can’t pin ‘what’ kind of animal he’s smelling though, but smells distinctly… female. Are you a girl? He woofs at the air, blinking at his partially obscured vision by tears. I’m here to meet a girl. Have you seen a girl about? Big dog, like me? Unease smell. Were they afraid of dogs? He gets up, and shakes off any falling tree droppings that had dropped onto him while laying here. 9 tbb 9

Kouta just waits now that he’s up on his feet and can see a bit further, over the moderately tall grass. Something is laying out there, in wait. One eye squints shut painfully as he finds the dark spot that wasn’t there earlier… I see you now! He wags his tail and barks his alert bark. His happy bark. Goes charging in just like he normally does. The dark spot shifts, than RUNS. A chase! He loves chasing things! He pursues the dark spot streaking through the grass, barking happily. Chase chase chase chase chase! Until it turns hard and he’s still running, but its slowing, and they’re back up at the tree, and it scrambles up it. Not easily, whatever this is, he can see it briefly now. Dark fur, fluffy tail, for some reason has teeth sprouting on its head… small dog! Damn dogs. Swift knows a chase scene being placed here. Dogs are stupid, they chase anything. Even balls. Who the hell will chase a ball. Not her. But hunky dog makes an alert bark, and she’s not sticking around anymore. If he wants to meet a girl, she’s out. Definitely not interested? 10 tbb 10

The snox makes a quick lap around the trapped field with him in hot pursuit before heading right up the tree where he’d been under. The one saving grace on trees out in open fields, they have craggier bark for her claws to dig into the tree for a quick up and out of reach. And by the size of the dog’s shadow in pursuit, hunky dog isn’t just big laying down, he’s big enough to likely reach lower branches if he tries. So into the middle portion of the tree she goes and Swift crouches there, her eyes alight with upset. How dare he. She’s tired now from the quick sprint across the field. Not because of being out of sha… oh fox, thats exactly why. She’s out of practice. But usually not trying to escape giant hunky dogs instead. He slows down to approach the tree as the dark shape with teeth sprouting from its head head upw into the tree, and Kouta skids to a halt at its trunk. He puts his paws on the trunk and stands on two legs, looking up into the tree. Even with one eye, he can see the squinting of the creature now. There’s a bit of white fur there, but mostly dark. 11 tbb 11

You are not a dog! He seems CONFUSED of all things, as the snox glowers down at her tree captor as he yips his stupid findings. The scent is vaguely familiar; her home has two of these as the baby size. Why do you have teeth outside of your mouth? All the stupid things to come out of hunky dog's mouth, and it was about her horns. Well her horns are part of her head, naturally. They grew in when she grew her dark coat as an adult snox. But she's not going to talk to this dumb dog. Nope. Just crouch up on this branch and glower down at this ...hunky dog tree captor.
This isn't a dog! Kouta's genuinely confused on what he's found. Because it smells female. She's angry. Upset. Wary? Well he is in the chasey smelling female not-dog's space. Was she living here? She's very unlike what he's seen before. Granted all he's known is his bigger mate friend Kitri and cat friend and not much else. He's young to the world. What are you? he yips a bit, his voice ending on a deeper bark. Sort of how a hound is confused on treeing something that doesn't typically tree.

The snox's tail lashes around her body, back behind her to caress the branches enclosing her like a behindwards cage. The hunky dog is a giant, but is so dumb it makes her...really question how he manages to walk around without hitting something right in front of his face. Yes, Snox are a winterly seasonal beast who shouldn't even be awake this time of year, but was he that young of mind? Surprise. Disbelief. Mild indignation. He'd offended her horns, and they were just budding for winter too! Rude. HE doesn't deserve an answer, probably would interpret it like a dog does and attack. What are you? He echoes the yip bark again, confused. Seriously is. The gleaming eyes above his head are shadowed by the tree's droppings, occasionally pockmarked by light. Dark fur, like him, but still light. He can see those narrowed strips of topaz up in the deeper recess of the tree. Pushing himself off the trunk, the ohou stood there, craning his neck to look Up. Up is odd feeling to his neck, like it'll stay there. Usually he's looking at, or down. The female animal he's treed must be as confused as he feels. He'll keep trying to figure out what he found. 13 tbb 13

Kouta sniffs the air again as he stands there. The scent of chasey is there, and clearly above his head. I smell you! he yips, and makes a stupid howl of happy. He found his scent! The eyes narrow at him. Surprise. Disbelief. Upset. She didn't like being found? He doesn't get that. Everyone likes being found again. I found you, when I smelled you. his tail wags, long and sweeping, unlike some ohou found in the area. Or at least the ones depicted on paper for humans. Who in their right mind would get rid of such a fantastic tail. The snox hears the dog give a little howl. Briefly looking away from him to scan the terrain around him. There's no human accompanying him, and he smells heavily of... was she walking through the catnip or did this hunky dog smell of CAT. Curiosity. More indignation. Well of course he found her by scent. Not as if his red watery bad eye didn't seem to help his sight. Nose sight and eye sight are two different sight sense. Swift's curiosity piques, and she wants to know, even if she's offended by his blunt and young sounding personality. At least ot her ear. 14 tbb 14

Why do you smell of cat the soft tone of a yip echoes down from the silent tree. The ohou looks up so far it makes his neck hurt. She answered him?! I smell of cat because I have cat friend. He's not ashamed to share. He likes cat friend. Never met another cat. He is big, and fluffy, an walks on two legs. Has weird eyes and makes cat sounds and human sounds His yips and barks ramble on like an excited child being asked of his first day at school. His tail wags and his eyes are shining with pride of all things. ...he has a cat friend. Disbelief. Her nose sense doesn't lie though. Smells like a cat. Its strong enough to waft up the tree, mixing with the hunky dog's scent, which she is distinctly trying to ignore. Partially because its DOG smell, the other reason is a bit more instinctual. Curious. And he's clearly wrong in the head, acting like the cat is his owner or...oh fox. The hunky dog believes the cat owns him. Its so funny that she wants to bark out loud with laughter. Cats don't own dogs. she hisses with relish. 15 tbb 15
