Skram didn't know much about this god damn place they'd found themself in, but they did manage to find some sort of weird board thing that had a bunch of different papers on it. They squinted up, glaring at the board as if it had insulted their integrity or something, before finally spotting the two words (or, come to think of it, it was probably the pictures) that made them suddenly pay attention. Free. Snacks. Fuck. Skram didn't care whatever else it said. They hopped up a few times, clawed hands flailing, before they were finally able to grab the scrap of paper and rip it off the board. The weird little lizard thing they'd brought along looked up at the sound of the paper tearing and went to investigate the noise. Skram turned around to block them, their eyes roving over whatever the heck the paper was supposed to say. 1

Considering that the little weird lizard thing was a bit smaller than they were, a different weird lizard thing, Skram was somehow able to keep the runner from jumping up and destroying the paper they were trying to read. Or at least look at. Something. Whatever. Good. They skimmed over the page, eyes continually stuck on the 'free snacks' bit, until they finally seemed to find WHERE these free snacks were. Apparently they had to go to some place where people were doing a thing and just sit there while it was happening and they'd be able to eat during it. Fucking SCORE. A toothy grin spread over Skram's face as they confirmed their initial impression. That knowledge gathered, they didn't have any use for the PAPER anymore so they just tossed it over their shoulder and started towards the area they'd need to go. This'd be the easiest food they'd gotten in DAYS.

The runner leapt up into the air to catch the paper before it could hit the ground and quickly scrambled to run after Skram, making small chirping sounds to try and get its master to slow down and wait for it. Skram, however, was on a god damn mission. They power walked towards the area the paper had said the thing would be at. They had absolutely no idea what sort of thing they were supposed to be watching for this, but they sure did know that they would be there and they would watch it if it meant that they got some god damn food. The runner struggled to keep up with them, but eventually Skram drew to a sudden stop. They looked around the area suspiciously once they saw how many other people must have answered the flyer. They should have expected this, really, it was a little embarrassing they hadn't.

They hissed and grumbled to themself about it, but at the end of the day they figured that the free food would be worth the uncomfortable reality of being seen in public. They also perked right up when they realized that this would also be an excellent opportunity to pickpocket while they were mingling in the crowds. That decided, Skram even hummed to themself as they wandered around, weaving between people's legs, looking for a spot close to where the free food was being given out so that they could get (or steal) refills whenever they wanted them. The poor runner was still trying to keep up with them while they went through the crowds, having some serious trouble navigating between all of these people's legs while Skram side stepped and dodged like and old pro. The runner did not have quite as much experience so it made an awkward sight.

It almost looked as if the poor thing didn't even know how to use its legs with how much it was struggling keeping up after Skram. And, not once did Skram look back to check on it. They just kept forging ahead on a signed minded mission to get their free snacks, as had been promised by the flyer. The flyer the runner still had clamped tightly in its teeth. Oh boy. Eventually, Skram seemed to find a spot that worked well enough for them. They flopped down in the grass, uncaring if they were laying in the dirt, and eyeballed around to see who was supposed to be getting them their free snacks. A few moments later, the poor little runner finally caught up and flopped down right next to them, its sides heaving as it tried to catch its breath. The paper floated down to the ground as it finally let it go.

The poor paper, having come so far, shortly got trampled and stuck to the bottom of someone's shoe. The runner stared despairingly as the paper traveled far, far away from where it had left it, Skram without a care in the world for all the work it had done suddenly being destroyed. The runner huffed sadly and laid its head on the ground in front of it, tracking the paper on the shoe as it traveled further away into the growing crowd.
Skram, meanwhile, was tracking something else. Their eyes were fixed on the area where the free snacks were supposed to be coming from, sure that they had found the right place. They could smell it! They wanted some! They watched with wide, wide eyes as the machine started up and began creating the snacks they were all supposed to be getting. Skram wiggled where they sat, fixated on watching it.

They didn't even notice that the play or event or whatever it was supposed to be started up. The troupe was getting ready over on the stage, warming up and getting themselves prepared to start doing their art, but Skram had no idea what was going on over there at all. Instead, they were watching the great performance of making popcorn. That was what truly had their attention and their heart, getting the popcorn all ready and prepared to hand out to the audience for free snacks. Finally, as someone started to come up to the stage to do introductions, someone else started slipping through the crowd to pass out the free popcorn. Skram could barely keep themself still as they waited for their turn to get the snacks! But finally, after waiting for practically forever, they was a bag and some popcorn right there in front of them! Fucking finally!

They had no idea what this stuff was but everyone else sure seemed eager to chow down. They sniffed at it curiously before carefully snapping some of the fluffy stuff up with their jaws, chewing loudly and with and open mouth, likely annoying whoever was nearby them. They smacked their lips a bit, chewing on the popcorn for a while, before decided that it was super flavorless but probably acceptable. They chewed and swallowed and quickly stuffed their face into the bag again to get another large mouthful.
The runner watched curiously while Skram stuffed their face. It lifted its head up and leaned over towards their master, sniffing at some of the popcorn kernels that fell out of the bag. It didn't smell like food, but Skram was sure eating it and seemed happy about it. It wondered if it should try some, too, but it really didn't smell good to it.

It leaned down a bit and nipped at one of the kernels. The thing didn't really have any taste at all and it stuck to its tongue and teeth. It shook its head, trying to free itself from the sticky thing, but it was holding tight to the moisture in its mouth. It eventually dissolved a little bit, leaving only a hard bit left on its mouth that was much more easy to spit out. The running shook its head a few more times and sneezed, pleased to be rid of the weird taste and weird feeling in its mouth that the popcorn left behind.
Skram didn't seem bothered at all by the weird flavor. As long as it was something that was filling their stomach, they would cope with whatever strange tastes they had to deal with in order to do that. The more fuel they had in their stomach the better!

The performance went on in the background, secondary to the loud crunching coming from the depths of Skram's bag of popcorn. They munched away happily at the weird light kernels until they were all gone. They tossed the bag away and leaned back, happy with the good munches they managed to get, but they weren't relaxed for long. Soon Skram was up and looking around, wondering where they would be able to find another snack. Other people around here seemed to have different snacks, different types of weird kernel things with different colors! They looked around to see if they could find any different that what they had before, seeing if there were any bags that were unguarded so that they could steal them away. The runner quickly scrambled to its feet to follow after Skram, not wanting its master to go out of its sight! It didn't want to get lost in this big crowd!
