On the Board
Checking over the quest board, a new listing catches your eye. It's handwritten, in neat but pretty handwriting on vaguely green tinted stationary, which is printed at the bottom with a familiar logo. Curious, you read the message...
"Hello! As winter is in full swing, I find myself with a bit more free time than usual. After all, Herbologist's Delight isn't quite as busy when all of the plants are in torpor! Every year I do my best to make a fresh batch of seasonal cookies to try and help people stay cheerful through this dreary season, but... well, my speed isn't what it used to be! I would appreciate an extra set of hands around the shop to help me bake, and I'll make sure you get to have some of the extras. Sincerely, Alura. "
Interesting! It sounds like the shopkeep of Herbologist's Delight needs some help this year, and while it's not necessarily paid, you're pretty sure you'd enjoy what she's offering..."
In Order to Succeed: Help Alura out with her baking! You can't imagine that's very hard- almost everyone's baked a cookie at some point, right?
Prize: From the sounds of it, it looks like you'll be getting some delicious baked goods as a reward... along with the usual quest points, of course.

-alone The problem with growing your own catnip is not the cost. No, its the waiting time when growth slows down. If this plant goes outside, it will die. So the remaining options besides grow it yourself would be to bribe a grower or buy the stuff dry. However, drying the leaves yourself does take a finesse of its own. Skylos grumbles as he watches the stubborn plant stay small and minute. He is a grown cat man and does not want his catnip that badly to be picking the plant bare before it has a chance to do what plants do to live. Grow. GROOOOOW. An exhale of frustration ruffles the split upper lip as it whistles through his front tearing teeth. Those little ones that are between your long canines. The incisors, to be specific. (yes, I looked up a feline tooth chart to double check) He's going to go out for a bit and stretch his legs and stop thinking about a stubborn plant depriving him. [25 0/5 1/10 1/20]

As he's leaving the kennel, Skylos bumps into a small handcart pushed by someone he didn't initially see. The cart topples and bags of flour in canvas wrapping topple out onto the ground with light puffs. "Oh... ohh." looking left, ...its the old human woman... oh what was her nAME, tapping her foot and looking put out. "I'm sorry dear. Can you do an old woman a favor and help me put the flour sacks back in my cart. I do need them for baking and my back will not let me forget if I get down to reach those." She isn't angry at him, doesn't shout. NOdding a bit mutely with his ears flattened, Skylos reloads the handcart carefully with each portion of flour. "Thank you my boy." "...sorry to push cart..." he mutters to his toes, tail sweeping the ground in shame. Damn it, learn how to LIE cat. 2 [25 0/5 1/10 2/20]

A small hand pats the back of his bowed head gently. "Don't you worry, this is not the first time my cart has been disrupted by someone, and it certainly will not be the last. Your apology is not accepted though." Uh oh. "I am going to appoint you as my official cart pusher, and then I need an assistant for the day. If you do a good job, I will consider forgiving you for pushing my cart over." Looking upwards through his thick bangs of fur, Skylos can see the determined gleam in the old woman's eyes. It makes him sliiiightly nervous. "Come on boy, I do need to make two more stops before going home." Her words pull him into action, and Skylos resigns himself into being a cart toting cat for the day. It surprises him how fast the old woman can walk once she's shuffled her way out of the kennel spacing. Word wise, the little old lady is like most he's seen; curly paling hair with enough wrinkles in her skin to make a wrinkled dog jealous, being slow and creaky, and smelling of cabbage. But she does not smell of cabbage. Namely, its of vanilla. 3 [25 0/5 1/10 3/20]

Inside the marketplace of the city, most of the prominent busier shops belong to those who cater to monster tamers or with a fair amount of credit coin in their pockets. For the rest of the city who either is not lined with coin or isn't a monster tamer (and he knows of many in a lower bracket of society), a bit of a side street caters for a market, a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker, and a homely wares shop. The surprisingly spry old woman takes him to the market, and starts requesting a bunch of extra ingredients. Sugar, LOTS OF SUGAR, some powdered soda for baking, oil, a thick rack of cod eggs, and a couple other odds and ends. What is she making that requires so much stuff? Thankfully he doesn't need to pay for it. Next shop she's heading for is the ...garden store headed by another old woman? Why? 4 [25 0/5 1/10 4/20]

"Door dash grocery service!" the woman outright BELLOWS when she enters the open store. It takes Skylos by surprise that she can even get that loud without having to stoop and cough to retrieve her breath and her voice. "Did someone order some baking supplies?!" A familiar face in Alura comes out, and the two old human women start talking rapidly in Common that he can't hope to cotton onto. A curious 'ping' of telepathy brushes against him, seeking. Where? He can't answer, but it feels oddly like his weavers are seeking him. What was the time... oh. The clock in the store chimes sunset. He'd been taken around all afternoon gathering supplies! "Hello dear. How are the new nip sprigs treating you?" the more familiar old woman asks him, pulling Skylos into present. He tries not to look her right in the eye but she just smiles. "...slow growing. I wanted catnip sooner." he shuffles in place like a shy child. The two women chuckle amicably to each other. "Oh, I think we can set aside a small batch of dough to make catnip cookies my dear. I just finished picking a fresh amount of leaves." A hot flush of embarrassment, he doesn't want to- but he does-... argh, this is a conundrum. "Consider it a thank you for helping my grocery reach here sooner." Well, how can one turn down freshly baked catnip cookies. 5 [25 0/5 1/10 5/20] -fin
