As you approach the quest board, you see what looks like quite an elaborate notice... albeit on some pretty plain paper. Still, it's caught your eye and you take the time to read it fully. Apparently a local theater troupe is debuting their latest play in the public park tonight, and are looking for people to come see it to try and spread the word about them.
The questing association is offering quest points for going to see it in an effort to "support the arts", and they're offering free snacks as well! Probably worth checking out, right?
In Order to Succeed: Roleplay your character attending the stage play. You never know, it might be the next big thing!
Prize: A showtime snack, plus QP!
Challenge Rating: Easy

Em and Saph lv 1, lv 9 For the most part, letting the bugs do the work of eating the grubs is a good idea. Far as he’d understood the work involved, the berries damaged by bugs were free taking so he did just that. The half eaten berries now being mushed up with a small stump of wood to feed to the army of wasp babies he now had in his care. The two cool colored eyed ones he called Em and Saph, respectably short for their eye color. Yes, the cat find himself so very talented with naming. The roommate spiders find it amusing and stupid at the same time. Wasps grow big and buzzy. You will need space. It’s true and he can see their rapid growth. With luck, the mammalian wont’ find himself waking up to having a quintet of angry buzzing wasps one night from feeding larvae one day. So he goes past the quest board again, because a popular rumor circulates he hears, quest points are worth good money. If you earn enough towards your bounties, can turn them in for credits for a good payout. Well someone will be paying for the grubs he’ll need. You can get a ‘jar’ of bugs to eat out of the pantry in the kennel but… Skylos likes being more independent. The kennel does enough with shelter and access to food and water. An elaborately scrawled note catches his eye. 1 [26 0/5 0/10 7/20]

SUPPORT THE ARTS MONTH, the note's largest line reads out, once he gets close enough to read it. See a play by a local playwrite, and get a free snack. Quiet pets welcome. Public Park, tonight only. Beneath the notice is a thumb sized seal that also marks quest points being given out for attendance (with proof of stub). 'Playwright isn't spelled that way...' the mammalian grumbles to himself as a few chattering female... are they avian?, stop in front of him to point at the note with pointed fingers, giggle, and move on. Someone worked hard on at least getting this piece of paper to sound and look elaborate. Looking both directions to make sure nobody is paying attention, and because it just looks off misspelled, Skylos picks up a discarded pen at the foot of the board, makes the spelling correction, places the pen back in the dirt and walks away like he didn't do a thing. Back at the kennel, Em and Saph were making discoveries of their own. Perhaps it is because they were a rarer breed of vespa then the other hivemates of the kennel. Or having been ...made young again. But there's a crowd around as someone is strutting about the pen, looking smug, for a bug. 2 [26 0/5 0/10 8/20]

His hands in his pockets, the collar of his shabby clothing turned up against the brisk cold, Skylos takes the long route back to the kennel. The time is still early enough the play hasn't started, so he would go out and collect the buglets and take them out for socializing. Baby vespa, according to the pamphlet, need socializing, so he needs to do that before they grow wings and start being interested in feeding on everyone's pet sarane. Mammalian doesn't have the funds nor the trust in people to handle a lawsuit for lab based murder diets. The public park is busy with a handful of people surrounding a thick box of wood laid out flat. Some are shouting and pointing for something to be done, others are carrying objects of nondescript, and others are standing with sheafs of paper in their hands, and to him, obnoxiously doing ups and downs with the sounds of their voices. "Practicing their tunes", it was called. Or, to him, a ripe opportunity for an ear ache. The baby vespa had enough girth to their bodies now that it sounded like dragging around leather sacks on the ground when one of them walked about. Er, moved. But there was the distinct sound of 'tap...tap...tap...'. 3 [26 0/5 0/10 9/20]

'The arts support where we come from', his mother told him as a cub. 'Our heritage is remembered through writing, speaking, and the arts.' For her, he'd see the play. Probably cost to get inside, he muses to himself, the mammalian steering away from the hubbub. And if he wants to take advantage of the prices before the rumored 'fall', racking up some points would be smart, and he could store that money away for a rainy day. Afford a place to live and such outside the kennel. But why would he, he asks himself, because the kennel is free. Free food, water, shelter, and information. If you can ignore the lack of soundproofing, its perfect for a broke monster tamer. The sounds of chirping and trilling of cheering them on, Saph watches their partner in crime make unusual tappy noises as they move across the pen. How. How were they doing this. Em doesn't even hide how very smug they are for reaching the other side. And 'tappy moving' is faster moving then 'squirm like a worm'. Upset chirps, how was Em moving faster then Saph? The emerald turns around, and there is a distinct...pointiness to around their belly edges? 4 [26 0/5 0/10 10/20]

LEGS. Em trills the discovery gleefully. The way their partner in crime Saph arches their head back with narrowed eyes and a pursed attempt of mandible hole is...funny beyond anything else. The three older baby vespa who aren't THAT much older, cheer and chirp and trill at the discovery. Ok, they aren't 'legs' but more nubs. Faster moving then squishing around on your belly, thats for sure. Right? Em misses legs. Misses having them, and rubbing their forelegs together like some massive cricket to make rattley scratchy noises. These... useless little claws on their upper bodies are... really not doing anything except getting longer. Cat coming! Act wormy! The eldest of the hive, the red eyed male, who has been playing lookout, warns with chirps. Act wormy... please. He's a cat, what could be so bad... but the hivemates separate from the discovery of Em's and go back to... just laying about like the worm sacks they are and drooling like idiots. Deceptive little snits. The lock turns as the mammalian lets himself in out of the cold, shaking himself a bit to dislodge any water buildup on his coat. Not that its doing much against the cold. His fur is more for that, but it isn't 'proper' to walk around clothingless. He regards the two jewel eyed baby vespa. /We are going to see a play./ 5 [26 0/5 0/10 11/20]

"Going to see a play" for a pair of baby vespa includes being bundled up like living sacks of potatoes, and taken out in the cold. The twins protest the influx of cold as he bustles the three of them out into the chilly afternoon. Not like Skylos has the funds to afford bug baby sweaters. If its busy, perhaps the buildup of bodies will be warmer. Well, he wants them to be out and about and at least used to around people and their pets without feeling like murder. For him to not feel like murder, in his protective instinct of protecting his own. The route to the park is surprisingly not busy for this time of day. Probably due to the upswing of chilly air blowing itself down the street. The angered and distressed hissing and chittering from the twins make themselves heard further. Hello cat, we are COLD HERE. /Alright hang on here./ he mutters, taking the time to stop, open his own humanoid wearing coat, and slide one bug larva under one side, and then very awkwardly slide the other under the other side. Now he's really carrying sacks of potatoes, and its even more awkward looking, and feeling. It better be warm there. 6 [26 0/5 0/10 12/20]

A turn past the 'seemingly open' community center, and theres the line. A short throng of humanoid citizens and their assorted animal or people escorts, being beckoned through a gap in the park's entrance, now cordoned off with thick ropes, attached to those heavy metal pillars humans use to block things. Skylos gets himself into line, following the throng of the crowd. Whomever is up there taking tickets... uh... did he need a ticket? Before that thought can complete, he's up there. And the ticket taker is HUGE. Like big as Kitri, HUGE. "..three for play?" he asks, letting the two vespa heads poke out his coat. They are both taking in the huge of hugeness, shrinking back under his arm somewhat with worried trills. 'Dont' worry, I'll protect you.' he purrs briefly. A long stare, before the hugeness nods, and lets the three of them through, after handing over a stub of paper. Once past, Skylos releases the breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. Until some other, not HUGE, but TALL, is pushing past a rickety sounding cart that smells tantalizing of food. They ask if he'd like a free snack, and abruptly all thoughts cease. Did they say free. FREE? FREE FOOD?! He nods once, and a bag of grain is put into his busy paws. 7 [26 0/5 0/10 13/20]

Long wooden benches were hauled in between when he'd passed by the site earlier today, and now, the people filing along them to sit down, and coax their pets to stay put at their feet. Because pets typically don't enjoy watching plays. There's more of a turnout for free snacks and entertainment then he thought. The circulated rumor of the qp being worth it must be true then. Avoiding sitting on his tail, or having anyone else sit on his tail, or step on it, because that HURTS, Skylos settles himself on the bench with some space about him, and lets the vespalings down at his feet. The chill is less with the crowd of bodies, as he winds and folds over his tail across his lap. Less likely of an accidental sitting on or stomping on, or even nibbling on. It is not warm here, but there are many many legs here. Em is ...fascinated by the amount of legs while twisting every direction to watch movement of legs. Saph shuffles under the bench, out of the light and the potential of bieng stomped on. Even small, but not 'bug bug' size, Saph's displaced sense of big and small was getting to them. 8 [26 0/5 0/10 14/20]

Ahead, a wild eyed avian steps onto the stage, and starts speaking loudly in Common to the crowd. Thanking them for coming to the Tangled Feet production of Marhoo! It is a musical, and watchers are encouraged to sing along if they know the songs. To enjoy the show and walks off, shaking their wing hands like that was a difficult thing to do. Well, it kind of is, Skylos thinks, as he watches the bird leave his side vision. There is polite applause as the lights darken the flat space of wood. He can see dark clothed, or dark furred/feathered creatures moving objects around on the stage before it lights again. As he watches, it revolves around a 'competition' for money, and the best will go to Yellowdooh, a well known place for promoting the arts and big money. But nobody is interested in the competition, so the show is promoted much bigger and grander. A lie. Skylos isn't interested in 'competitions', because occasionally someone, mainly avian, will come up on stage and start singing. It grates on his ears, and he's keeping his eyes mostly on them, vs the pair of vespa at his feet. Saph glowers at the variety of legs around them. Flying is cooler then legs, any day. 9 [26 0/5 0/10 15/20]

He can hear the mutterings of the crowd around him. The story is shallow and boring, and the chosen singers are only half decent. If anything, the majority mutterings are towards the very good snacks, and free entertainment being just that; free. A couple pieces of snack drop from the bag in his hands as the cat picks out a piece or three, popping them in his mouth. An explosion of flavor. Like eating really chewy toast with lots of butter! What is this stuff! Holding up the bag. it says... "popcorn". Huh. The wet snack clings to the barbs on his tongue as he eats a few more pieces. Not terrible, but definitely not a cat mammalian's favorite. Now if they offered fish, that would be another story. Soon enough the stage darkens, and around him the people start clapping politely. The group of mostly avian cast comes up on plank and takes a flourished bow, and the wild eyed avian comes back on, asking for people to make use of the feedback slips filtering through the crowd, and to support the arts. Politely, the cat fills out the form, and has to crouch down to find the two baby vespa under his bench after turning it in. Not a good play really, but the food at least was tasty. A good night out for people, but the pets weren't interested. Em and Saph were definitely happier going back into the kennel. Because Em and Saph could be separated from hearing the repeated jabbering 'look at all the LEGS!'. Wings grow soon please. 10 [26 0/5 0/10 16/20] +2lv -end
