While I was already very good at fishing with just my claws, I thought there might be some merit in finding out how the people do it. They do not usually have strong claws or fangs with which to catch fish, so I wondered how they might accomplish such a difficult task. Luckily for me, there was an entire shop dedicated to the craft. People loved to overcome their shortcomings with strange gadgets, so it wasn't a surprise to me to find out that this store was full of different options.
There were two main methods, it seemed, to catching a fish without fangs. The first option was to scoop them out of the water with a net. That I could clearly understand from what it looked like. The other, however, was a bit more of a mystery. It was a stick with a string attached. The more expensive ones also had a spool of some kind to hold more string. Did they tie the string around a fish? That seemed terribly inefficient.
The stick-and-string method seemed the most interesting and technical to me, so I pulled one of the most expensive models from the shelf. Despite not really knowing the difference between them, I could easily assume that the most expensive one would bring the largest benefit. I also grabbed a handful of the surprisngly light trinkets one was meant to tie on the string and some hideous shiny boots. The boots, at least, I knew exactly the function of, and I liked the idea of keeping my claws dry almost enough to consider wearing them.
"Greetings," I say to the shopkeeper, surprised to find that she is not a squishy human or fluffy thing, but a person with scales. Not many people had scales, so I thought it was interesting to see such a rare trait. "I would like to purchase these items," I explained.
