He didn't know the overnight shipping of fish worked so efficiently. The small bowl of aquatics now gone, and in place... is a rock sculpture. Made from black stone, and distinctly... rough. The stone reminds him of the exotic goods tents from the red city. Volcanic rock. "Turtle without shell ~By Unknown" a little tag is pinned under the sculpture's foot. very birdlike feet. He has never seen a turtle except in books. Though, if he could find one, it would be a good choice. Black and gray might match well together. Perhaps he could find a rock for it. Hold it on with some clay and put the sculpture in front of his home. What sort of place did the stone come from, he wonders. Wasn't there a mountain rumored full of stones that he could try to find a perfect rock for it? While his back is turned, the sculpture's barbed tail twitches. 1 94 12.20

It already took many moonsets of consuming rocks to reach this size. The stonemake needed so many minerals to maintain their size, and keep growing, to keep… shaping. With a taste of igneous for color. Lava rocks were too porous for maintaining, but more of a snack. The black stones crush with enough force to create a powder that makes the water blacker. The water is important too, with the shaping. Then suddenly, no more hot space. Full sized stonemake delved for the deeper, better minerals. Fighting the runes and wings to find the best minerals. Stonemake wars don’t have either one walk away unbroken. No. This place is cold. Small. A trap. Something tall can be sensed outside. because stonemake don’t see like the rest. How can something be sensed that is tall. Because the ‘thereness’ is higher up. And not standing on rock higher. Because the stonemake can sense it. But now there is rock? Twitch. 2 94 13.20

A terrible thought inhabits his mind as Flare's back is turned. He should get a "welcome to this home" sort of banner and hang the object from the beak of his new sculpture. With luck, the quality of the stone might be so that there's a gap between the jaws. With it in mind, he finds a small roll of twine on his workbench, measuring out an arm's length. The sculpture is about as tall as his knee, with a bit extra due to the horn protrusions. Turning around, the tumaian crouches to examine his new item. Perhaps the god of the sun is smiling fortune because it does have a small space between the two halves of the beak. Odd to put a beak on such a beast make. He doesn't pay it any mind, carefully flossing the twine through the small gap. If its about this long and a banner would reach to its feet... 3 94 14.20

Banners in his culture represented all sorts of things, including a family's crest. Because he's no longer considered a person of the red city, using his family's crest would paint a brand on his back that the tumaian didn't need. The magic in his veins thrums to the tune of his heartbeat. What, should he make his own kind of banner, one that suited a person of the sand and the earth? An excited 'feeling', an upwards thrum. That's an idea... it is an accomplishment to create and post your own family banner; with marriage, the crests would merge, take one or the other or create anew if cutting ties. There should be some sort of tailor or place that dealt in fabrics; SOMEONE had to clothe this very -not- tumaian city. Not like a trader wandered in, made a huge amount of gold on their clothing and left. The banner cord is just long enough, if he has thick knots. 4 94 15.20

The stonemake's beak doesn't itch in the way if it were a fleshy live'un. But having something, which had the strangest -not- sense of a human, threading what could be a vine through its beak... what the great earth. Did they know what the stonemake is? Resist the snapping of thread. Hold out a bit longer... the human deserves the greatest of perilous fright. He's making noises to himself; the sense is distinctly, mostly, male. Did that mean anything to the stonemake? Not....really? Extra disagreeable stonemake would reference themselves a 'she'. The black stonemake has no specific preference, except not to have a vine threaded into its mouth like its not alive. More noises. The human actually leaves the vine in the stonemake's mouth, and leaves, with something in hand. Oh thats interesting. Where he walks, one step each, there is a very strong 'thrum' of "rock" feeling. The stonemake can follow this. 5 94 16.20

The two stones could not look more different from one another - one round and blue, and the other pointy and yellow.
