Bonbon, male
| Lys, female |
10/10
Though some time had passed since his last foray into the curious art of botanic breeding practises, the topic had lost little of its fascination to the lepus. Indeed, it seemed the stock of such had only grown in the interim, though by no result of active breeding. Rather it seemed more and more of the curious plant pollens from everyday garden produce were producing quite surprising results. One such could be considered the quite loudly coloured pachee which wandered the breeding room beyond the glass. A colouration that some would consider gaudy, and yet the pollen, or more accurately spores, which brought it about were no less so. It resulted in a curiosity the lepus had found surprising, yet fascinating.
So, too, the strange bottle that had been left among the berries and plants of the breeding room. Quite unsavoury to many a species, and yet it seemed these pachee were rather taken to it. If for no other reason, he was curious to see how such odd composition would affect them. Though that would have been getting quite ahead of himself - first there was the awaitment of one's breeding partner.

As they made their way to the breeding center, Silver pondered why they hadn't been there in a while. They tended to spend a lot of time at the breeding center, but they had been distracted by other things lately. They made a mental note to set aside some time to spend with their Pachee and other small creatures which made use of the space. Clearly, they could use some bonding time.
Silver had agreed to meet up with someone they didn't really know that well. That part always made them a tad nervous. Would they be too late? What did they say when they saw the other person? What would they talk about when the Pachee were getting to know each other? Silver just hoped that Lys would be interesting enough to take the attention off themselves.
A bright pink Pachee was easy to spot, and Silver cautiously approached him and his person. "Ah, hello," they said, awkwardly waving.

The tall lepus had chosen the finer dress for the occasion, particularly seeing as the work of handling one pachee hardly required worker's wear. He was just in the middle of checking one's pocket watch, more a habit of waiting than in any anticipation of delay, when the sounds of approaching steps became evident. A tall ear turned, and soon enough the head would follow. Ah, there they are.
"Good day, sir," the lepus reached for the top hat, lifting it briefly in a bowed head in greeting. "And to the fair Lys as well," the smile was polite, in such manner where genuineness meets restraint within polite society. "I hope the travel over was not too difficult. The colder season does not always agree with the gentler botanical animals." If one made note of their disparagingly different heights, something which could be comical to a degree, the lepus made no indication towards it. Far more curious is the look towards the pale glow of the stranger's skin, for it is not too unlike the luminance of his own pale fur.
Within the breeding room itself, the striated pachee seemed as yet unaware of their added guests, though it was not likely to last too long.

Silver was used to being the shortest person in the room, so the stark difference between them was lost on them, even if it was more pronounced than usual. Instead, they found themselves focused on his hat for a moment too long. What a curious thing, to see someone so formally dressed. They quickly averted their eyes when they suddenly remembered that staring was considered quite rude.
"Ah, yea," they said with an accompanying nod. "I think she's alright," they said, looking down at the Pachee in their arms. They had carried her down without a leash or anything, since Pachee were so easy to handle. Her bright green eyes blinked up at them, as if she was expecting them to do something.
"Well, why don't you go, ah, play then," Silver said, leaning over and setting Lys on the ground. She looked curiously around the room, her gaze fixated on the brightly colored male. Not only was he the most interesting thing in the room, but he was also a potential new friend. She twitched her tail, uncertain of whether or not she should make the first move.

"That is good to hear," the lepus nodded, taking a few steps aside to allow the co-breeder space at the doorway. Within, the male pachee continued his investigation of the area, by means of trying to scent out the ground. It was not long before the minor commotion at the doorway caught his attention, however, and his head rose in a curious look. Fellow pachee were not unfamiliar to him, though none he'd met quite had the look of the new acquaintance, not to mention a difference in genders. So much so that he seems rather unsure how to approach this new type of situation.
On the outside, the lepus leaned lightly upon the walking cane and observed the introductions within. To not leave his fellow breeder in impolite silence, he asked, "Have you had the opportunity to breed pachee prior to this?" One could consider silence as much taboo as speaking too often, though he didn't know the humanish well enough yet to know where such lines were.

Apparently, her new friend was a bit shy. Lys looked back at Silver for a second, as if that helped her assess the situation, then took a tentative step forward. Her nose twitched, taking in all of the new smells of the room and hew handsome new friend. Her ears were perked up, her eyes wide, suggesting she was curious but cautious. She held out her paw to him. Did he want to sniff it?
Silver was not someone who liked to talk too much, at least not to strangers, so they were almost caught by surprised when he asked a question. They thought about it for a second before answering.
"Ah, yea, I ah, Lys is..." they held out a gloved hand and counted on their fingers, "third generation. I bred her, and her mother, from a female I bought from, ah, Turner I think." They paused for a moment before continuing the conversation. "He's ah, he's got a beautiful coat, did you breed this one as well?"

The fellow breeder's shy reaction was rather unexpected. To be sure, he knew some who preferred limited to no conversations on average, though the startled expression was quite unique. The lepus' demeanor was quick to change towards apologetic, being milder in his voice, "Oh, I didn't mean to pry, my apologies. Merely curious." Assured that intentions were cleared, he continued, "That is quite a lineage, and I'm familiar with the stock Mr. Turner has on hand as well. You seem well versed in the field to have bred such a unique one."
One could hope that compliments weren't estranging, either. For his own answer, there's a much humbler, "Oh no, Bonbon was obtained through the local pollen program. It seems the fungi of the region can have rather interesting effects on the pachee, if not more so than blossoms do."
Within, the pachee in question might yet have felt unfamiliar to the situation, but not ill equipped to handle it. Approaching, the male was cautious in large part because she was, but the offer of the hand was a good way to make introductions. Carefully, he took in the scent, quite different to his own, considering their disparate origins. But not in an unpleasant way. The pachee livened, hopping back some in invitation to social play.

If there was anything Silver was worse at than casual conversation, it was taking a compliment. As they often did when they weren't sure what to say, they brought the conversation back to their creatures. "Yea, she's a real cutie," they said, emphasizing Lys' uniqueness over their own knowledge or skills.
"Oh right, the pollen program," Silver said. They remembered hearing something about that, though they had never investigated for themselves. "I've never tried it, but maybe now I might. He is very interesting." Their awkwardness stammer was less noticible when they were focused on talking about creatures.
Lys was delighted to get a positive reaction from him. He wanted to play! She wasn't sure what she was expecting, but this was a positive outcome either way. She looked around to see if there were any toys that they could play with, but nothing caught her eye. Instead, she ran at him with her arms out, as if she was going to grab or push him once she got there. His reaction would determine which one she settled on.

The change and shift in their manner of speech was enough to cue the lepus into their preferences. He politely smiled with a nod, "Indeed. If you happen to have excess produce from your garden, it is quite a good way to utilise it. There is also a small garden in the market district that offers exchanges of one plant type for another. The pollen project requires uniform samples, you see. Same type of plant, though the breed can vary." And that was all he was going to add on the matter, allowing the vulpine humanish to settle into a peaceful co-silence, should they prefer.
Within the chamber, the pachee was fairly more energetic at the interaction he was having with his fellow companion. Play was something he understood, and something he preferred, readying himself for being grabbed. At the last moment, however, there was a sudden counter-grab and a roll, to send them both tumbling along the soft floor and pollen flying, as he chittered in delight as if to laugh.

Silver nodded, listening intently to his explanation of the pollen project and related services worked. For as much time as they spent in the city, they always felt like there was something new that they didn't know about yet. "Interesting," they said, knowing that they had to say something while their brain caught up to the information.
"I, ah, I really like to spend time in my garden. It sounds really great that I could also get some really cute pachee by providing, ah, samples." They essentially just repeated what the lepus had said, but it showed that they were listening and had genuine interest in what was being discussed.
Lys was equal parts surprised and excited as Bonbon switched up the situation and grabbed her instead. She squeaked cheerily as she tumbled to the ground. She uselessly pawed at him as if trying to push him off, but not really. This was fun! She was glad to have a new friend to play with.

Ooh... I wouldn't touch that if I were you... even if it DOES look like melting candy.
