About Levels This information is about levelling creatures. To learn more about levelling characters, see the roleplaying areas guide. A creature’s level is a sum total of all of their experience. Creatures gain one level per 5 posts* they are in. Posting is the primary way to gain levels. * In the Plot Area, pets gain one level every 10 posts.Creatures may also gain levels via level vouchers or by winning battles. Creatures do not gain Loyalty when they level using these methods, but they do gain Training Points. For every level a creature gains, it also gains one Training Point. The creature may also gain Loyalty if it is with a character or another creature. For more information on Training Points and Training creatures, see the [Training guide].

About Loyalty A creature’s loyalty is a measure of how loyal it is to a character or another creature. Generally, for every level a creature gains while it is with someone, it gains one loyalty to that individual. The higher a creature’s loyalty to an individual, the more devoted they are to them. The only loyalty you absolutely need to keep track of is a creature’s loyalty to the character who officially owns it. However, creatures can gain loyalty to as many characters as they spend time with, and they can even gain loyalty to other creatures, such as a TRoD. Whether or not you keep track of a creature’s loyalty to others is up to you. Note: If you are asked to list a creature’s loyalty anywhere, such as in loot areas, it means that you should list their loyalty to the character they are with at the time. Whenever a creature gains loyalty to a new individual, their loyalty to that individual starts at 0. Most bonuses to a creature’s loyalty are for their first owner only, so please read over the bonuses carefully if you have received a creature in a trade. Example: Say Alura’s Elah has 15 loyalty to her. If Turner borrowed Elah and raised her level by 3, she would have 3 loyalty to Turner, and 15 loyalty to Alura.

Loyalty Chart This chart explains what the loyalty numbers translate to in terms of a creature’s bond with those it's loyal to. Of course, this is just a rough guide, and your creatures might be a bit different depending on their personality. Please note that any tricks highlighted as 'bonuses' are not considered 'officially trained' for the sake of tournaments or contests. You would still have to train these tricks [as usual] if you wanted to use them officially, but your creature would have no trouble doing it otherwise. Loyalty <0 | The creature hates you. Aggressive species will try to hurt you, and skittish species will try to get away from you at all costs. A pet with less than 0 loyalty will never listen to you and is controlled by the staff in battle. Note that creatures can only be taken below 0 loyalty under special circumstances. Most creatures start at 0 loyalty. | Loyalty 0-2 | This creature does not know you and will generally ignore you, though it might be curious about you. It will not listen to your commands unless it was well trained by someone else. Depending on whether the creature is aggressive or skittish, it might lash out or try to run away if it becomes stressed. | Loyalty 3-4 | The creature barely knows you. It will only listen to your commands if it is well trained (by you or someone else). The creature might attack you or run away, but only if provoked. | Loyalty 5-6 | The creature is familiar with you. It will generally listen to your commands as long as it feels safe to do so. The creature will not attack you or run away unless it is heavily provoked.
Bonus: The creature will react to its name (as per the trick ‘Name’) as long as it’s you calling it. | Loyalty 7-9 | The creature likes you. It trusts you and will listen to your commands. The creature will not attack you or run away unless it is in danger.
Bonus: The creature will come when called (as per the trick ‘Come’) and back off (as per the trick ‘No’) as long as it’s you making the command. | Loyalty 10-15 | The creature cares about you. It always listens to your commands, no matter what. The creature will not attack you, even if provoked. It would take a lot for the creature to be afraid enough to run away, though it still might.
Bonus: The creature will stay put (as per the trick ‘Stay’), follow you closely (as per the trick ‘Follow’), or move out of the way (as per the trick ‘Move’) as long as you’re the one making the command.
| Loyalty 20-30 | The creature loves you. It is reluctant to listen to anyone else and is eager to follow your commands. The creature will never attack you, and it will even protect you in the face of danger. It will never abandon you.
Bonus: The creature will tolerate being touched (as per the trick ‘Tolerate’) and not bite you or anyone else (as per the trick ‘No Bites’) as long as you are around. | Loyalty >30 | The creature is extremely close to you. It will defend you to the death and will never leave you. If you were to abandon the creature, it would be very sad and lonely. It would not take well to a new owner at this point. | Loyalty 50 | The creature knows you so well that it seems to know what you’re thinking before you do. You can feel each other’s emotions effortlessly.
Bonus: The creature gains the ability ‘Empathetic Link’, though it only works between you and the creature. |
