The large amount of gemstones in my bags was making me oddly nervous. I watched each stranger who passed with suspicion as I hurried into the heart of the city. The sooner I completed the task, the better. I really wanted to finish before I changed my mind about giving up so many beautiful dark blue gems. They complimented my scales so well, but what I had in mind was sure to be worth the sacrifice.
I made a mental note not to get distracted right before I ducked into The Underground. The building and its fixtures were made almost entirely of exotic stones, and inside it was decorated with many varieties of crystal and gemstones. It was by far the closest thing to an actual hoard I had seen among the humans. Well, other than whatever it was the Trader was up to, though I wasn't entirely convinced he was even a living thing, no less a human.
"Good afternoon," I said with a respectful bow to the shopkeeper. We had met briefly a few times before, though I wasn't sure how good he was at remembering faces of the Tat-lung variety. Whatever, that didn't matter. All I had to do was make nice long enough to get a good offer on my trade.
"I'd like to make a trade, if you will indulge me. I have here some beautiful stones from the heart of the earth. Are you able to tell me what they are worth?"

Kor remembered the Tat Lung; who could forget one such as her? But he wasn't one for small talk, and she was generally pretty down to business herself, so he offered the usual greeting, then turned his gaze to the gems in front of him. "Ah, yes, le' me 'ave a look." He took the gems, eyeing them one by one, using a special magnifying tool on a few of them. He made sounds of interest when he found some particularly good ones in there!
"Aye can give ya Two Hundred an- Fifty-Nine credits fer th' lot. How's tha'?"

I was patient and quiet as the man reviewed my gems. I was confident that he would find them acceptable, so I did not see the need to inturrupt him. He knew what he was doing and I could respect that. All I had to do was to wait for a number - and what a good number it was. My ears perked up at the sound of his voice, and knowing I had estimated correctly put a smirk on my face.
"Excellent," I said with a nod. I was clearly pleased with his accurate evaluation. I had already done the math in my head, but I tried to make it look natural and not come off as terribly impatient. Value aside, humans were always more likely to agree to a deal if they saw me as friendly and approachable.
"I am looking to trade, actually," I explained. "I would like to exchange these gems for mind crystals, the round ones. I think five would be fair. Do you agree?"

"Righ'" Kor said with a nod. He rubbed his chin while considering the offer. That was right about correct for what he expected for the crystals. She clearly had a keen eye for gems and their value. "Aye, I can do that."
