It had been a quiet month -- so much so that Briar had been more wary than usual when Noa called him up for an errand, but it turned out only to be the customary trip to the trader to see what magical crystal they had available for trade. Briar almost hadn't believed it. But maybe he had been living at the estate too long, expecting something sinister around every corner. Even at his previous master's house, it hadn't been quite that bad. Maybe it wasn't that bad here either, at least not all the time. Or maybe it was just the calm before a storm. At any rate, he brought the items -- produce from the gardens this time, with which he was well familiar -- to the trader's, and set them on the counter for inspection. -One magic crystal,- he signed. At least this was easy, not much talking, just a simple exchange of items Trading for: Pure Crystal x1

While not everyone would think that simple produce was as valuable as a gemstone, the Trader clearly disagreed. The fleeting nature of life had a value that the timelessness of stone could never compete with. He bowed in welcome to the young Sprite, and dutifully placed one of the light emitting crystals on the table. No words were spoken by either of them, but the intent was clear nonetheless.
