This suggestion is that users be allowed to create placeholder images for purchased art, and use said placeholder images to assign stats, roleplay with, and compete with.
Sometimes artwork commissioned from official site artists can take a year or two, or even more, to be completed. As artists are not forced to adhere to any given deadline, nor is there a refund policy, it can be frustrating to make an order and wait an undetermined amount of years for the order to be completed. Rather than place pressure upon the site artists to implement one of the above, I think allowing members to use temporary placeholder images(contributed by the player unless the artist wishes to upload a sketch) would help with the stress an artist might feel knowing they have a large and long-ranging backlog, and help with the frustration of players who want access to what their ordered artwork represents in a timely manner.
These placeholders could be used for any order, so long as they resemble what the final intended product is (so no using the image of a gray bulldog to represent what will be a king snake pliathor) and that they have been created for the purpose of representing said later art(no taking random images off google that you lack the right to use, and the official artwork must already have been ordered). For things like draconics and crossbreeds, staff simply would set the stats for the player earlier on so they could get the sketch to a somewhat correct state. For customs, items, and offspring, the player would just do their best to illustrate what they think the thing will look like. In either case, the placeholder image could be a simple sketch hosted on discord or some other host, and the player could later replace the placeholder image with the commissioned official artwork once the flea shop artist has time to complete the order.
I think this will benefit both the official site artists who find themselves unable to work on site orders for various reasons, and players who wish to use what they have purchased.
