Beyond just moves and abilities, creatures have a list of numerical stats. Confused about what those stats mean? Well, here's an explanation of what those stats do for you, in and out of battle!
Stamina
Stamina is a measure of a creature's health as well as its bulk. Larger creatures tend to have more Stamina than smaller ones. In addition, creatures that are generally healthy have higher Stamina then those that are weak and sickly. No creature can have less than 1 Stamina.
In battle, a creature's Stamina is a measure of how much damage it can take. At 0 Stamina, a creature is no longer able to battle, and -10 Stamina means a creature dies.
A person has 3 Stamina, a horse would have 8 Stamina, and an elephant would have as much as 20 Stamina.
Strength
Strength is a measure of a creature's physical power. A strong creature can lift and carry more weight, as well as put more power into their physical attacks. Bigger creatures tend to have a higher Strength, though this is not always true.
In battle, a creature's Strength is often added to the damage the creature does with a physical attack. Attacks that do not make physical contact do not add Strength to their damage.
A person has a Strength of 3, a tiger would have a Strength of 6, and a grizzly bear would have a Strength of 8.
Resistance
Resistance is a measure of a creature's toughness and ability to resist injury. A creature with a thick hide or strong scales will have a higher Resistance than those without. Wearing armor will add to Resistance. Do not confuse the ability to resist damage (Resistance) with the ability to take damage (Stamina)!
In battle, Resistance allows a creature to resist taking damage. When an attack is made, a creature's Resistance is subtracted from the damage before it can affect Stamina. Resistance cannot lower damage below 1 point.
An average person has a Resistance of 3, a horse would have a Resistance of 5, and an armadillo would have a Resistance of about 8.
Dexterity
Dexterity is a measure of how fast and agile a creature is. Nimble and agile creatures have high Dexterity. A creature with high dexterity may be able to run fast as well, though running speed and Dexterity are not directly linked. Quick reaction speeds and the ability to dodge attacks are also related to Dexterity.
In battle, Dexterity determines who goes first, with the pet with the highest Dexterity making the first move. In addition, Dexterity determines whether or not attacks hit their opponent.
A person has an average Dexterity of 3, a dog would have a Dexterity of around 4, and a squirrel would have a Dexterity of around 9.
Mentality
Mentality is not so much as a way to measure intelligence, but rather a creature's mental endurance and willpower. Creatures with a higher Mentality are stronger psychics or better magic users. There is currently no way to increase a creature's Mentality outside of magic.
In battle, Mentality determines the effectiveness and power or nonphysical moves. Attacks that do not make physical contact often add Mentality to their damage.
Most creatures, such as dogs and average humans have a Mentality of 3, bugs usually have a mentality of 1, and a rock would have a Mentality of 0.
