She is at least pretty confident that the battle will be an interesting one. Sev certainly seems to be pumped to go at it again as he lays in wait for their opponents to arrive, his face directly turned to the tunnel they will show up in, as his antennae are twitching forward. I had to stop and do a double take when I saw the next competitor. It wasn't Gwendolyn, but a creature that looked exactly like her. The same sapphire blue hue, gem encrusted hide, and huge curious eyes. I could not let myself be distracted. I would have to fight it just like anyone else, even if it did remind me of own my precious grub.
Luckily for me, Sha did not seem to notice. It was not as though he was friends with Gwendolyn. I doubt he would notice her even if she was standing in front of him. He only had eyes for me, which was just fine for what we were doing.

For a moment there, she thought she was wrong in her assumption that she had to fight a Golem, and rather… that Sev needed to fight against two, with only one of them being a Golem. It was then with a relieved sigh she noted the Tat-Lung that entered with the Golem heading towards the competitor’s box. That’s good, no extra opponent she needed to worry about with Sev.
Though from the quick glance below at him, she noted he is far more interested in the Tat-Lung, then the Golem being left behind in the pit. Weren’t they…? Right! ‘Sev, that’s not food! Focus on the living rock!’ She scolds him within her mind. It wouldn’t be good for him to attack the Tat-Lung, one who has apparently managed to claw their way into society to be seen as more then a mere companion to someone else. The Collar of Speech is just something she can barely see, as its color is similar enough to their scales if not for the small grey jewel that dangles from it.
Not even a minute later when the Tat-Lung has settled in the box, did the referee blow on their whistle for the start of the battle. She is quick to look back at Sev and the Golem, and makes a quick decision. ‘Sev use Wing Buff!’ They are usually slow enough that Sev shouldn’t be too quickly in danger, not compared to most others. With a sharp but short trill from Sev, he rises up slightly on his hind legs, and gives a quick burst of wind against their opponent just as they toss sand in his direction and dodges the attack. Sev’s fierce wind burst must have changed the course of the attack, as it misses him entirely. ‘Good job Sev!’ She cheers him on, even if their opponent dodged the attack for now, she is proud with how quick and strong the wind became as he used his attack.

I had taught Sha to kick up sand from the floor of the pit to obscure the vision of his opponent as he prepared for his next move. Most of the time, it caused them to flinch or rub their eyes, giving him a good opening to take advantage of. Sometimes, however, his opponents were either too fast or too perceptive to be affected by it. In this case, I had to guess that the Vespa's wings made it difficult for the sand to reach its face. What a shame. There was little time to focus on that, however, as it was time to make the next move regardless. I hoped Sha would be able to make contact with the impossibly fast flying bug.

With Sev still on the ground, She knows he is vulnerable and she should pay attention more to the Golem then the Tat-Lung, but for some reason, her eyes kept straying to them. She didn’t remember if the Tat-Lung called out to the Golem any move, and with no ribbon in sight, that means unlike with Sev it’s the Golem who decides what to attack with maybe? Still, wanting to test out if they get called out on what to do, she decides on her next course of action. ‘Sev Sleeping Venom! Lets put it to sleep!’ Sending the thought towards her companion, she can see from the distance how he tilts his head in different ways, moves expectantly to the right and left as he seems to aim for just the right angle while crawling on the ground, then..
Zoom! In the blink of an eye, he moves, the fluttering of his wings adding in picking up speed for just this moment, aiming at the back of the Golem and stabbing it in the strange liquid like structure made out of light. She couldn’t see the venom spreading through it, but at least it was a direct hit, and Sev disengages just as quickly in order to not become vulnerable for an attack as he backs away. And not a moment too soon as he has to almost barrel roll on the ground out of the way as a sudden flash of light coming from above almost looked like it could have speared through him! The sound of the attack hitting the sand might not be like thunder, but she still felt herself go pale at seeing some of the sand where Sev had been standing in a moment ago, is just gone. What even was that attack?
Good job getting out of the way Sev.’ She says to him, and even in her mind it felt shaky at best.
‘I’m good!’ It was almost childish in how cheerful he spoke back, and could be taken in multiple ways, but.. Looking at him, she did see Sev is taking it seriously with how his gaze never left the Golem after that, antennae twitching as he tries to sense out where any other danger might come next, even glancing up in the sky when he feels safe enough to partly look away from the Golem.

Well, the sand was a bust, but perhaps it was time to fill the stadium with light. Very few things could avoid that. I spoke the command in a loud, clear voice, and Sha immediately went into action. Much to my surprise, the Vespa dodged again.
The look on my face was incredibly sour as I considered my choices. Should I have trained Gwendolyn instead? Then again, the Vespa's stinger was wholly ineffective against Sha's shell. At least that was still working correctly. A cold comfort, considering our luck so far.
"Now Sha!" I called, hoping that with the Vespa close enough to sting, he could grab it out of the air on the next hit.

With how focused Sev is on his opponent, it gave her just a few second of glancing at the Golem’s companion that brought them here and has her lips twitch upwards at seeing the incredulous look the Tat-Lung has on their face with Sev somehow having been able to clumsily roll out of the way of an attack she really didn’t think he would have been able to dodge, not with how fast it began and ended.
The sand just being gone, it.. It shows just how disastrous that hit could have been for Sev. It wasn’t even blown away, no, it just…
Shaking her head she tries to put it out of her mind, she has to focus! Even though the Golem appears to be slow, they did show that their ranged attacks are nothing to scoff at, and keeping Sev on the ground will just leave him vulnerable in the long run.
‘Sev, fly up!’ She commands clearly towards her companion, almost thinking he hadn’t been listening as his gaze was kept on the Golem, but with quickening the rhythm of his wing movements he rises, easily fast enough to dodge another attack from the Golem as it tried to snap at him a few seconds too late.

Of course Sha was not fast enough to catch a Vespa. Did he even stand a chance? I breathed slowly through my nostrils to regain my composure. Being angry was unproductive and undignified. I watched the motions of the Vespa carefully, hoping I could find an opening and communicate it to Sha in time to make a difference. There was no giving up now, and for as long Sha's shell held out, he still had a chance.
"Time to strike, Sha!"
The brightly glowing golem sprung into action instantly, but that alone might not be enough to catch his opponent before it flitted out of reach again.

Maybe the tactic is getting old with wanting her companion to be up in the air, but if nothing else, having the satisfaction of seeing it working each time with Sev being just that little bit faster for it gives her great satisfaction. Not to mention that Sev takes great enjoyment out of it as well, flying in a circle around the Golem while giving low trills.
Still, this is no time to just fool around, they are still in a fight, one that doesn’t seem to make much headway in chipping down their health. ‘Sev, try a wing buff on the Golem again.’ She comments inside her mind towards her companion, leaning back in her seat as she crosses her arms, nails slightly digging into her arms as she tenses, but the pain is dulled instead of sharp as she wears her favorite trench-coat.
While they had tried it before when Sev was on the ground and the Golem was able to dodge it, this time up in the air the wing blast Sev accomplishes quicker then the Golem can acts succeeds to hit! Sand is only for a moment scattered around as it gets taken with the wind as well, obscuring their sight only for a second. Sev trills short note at the success, but it stutters at the end when the Golem doesn’t appear to be harmed at all, and tries to lunge at Sev, missing him entirely by a wide margin with him so high up in the air.

The annoying pest continued to flit around just out of reach. I could hardly blame it, clearly it would be crushed if only Sha could grab it with his jaws. Staying in the air was a good strategy, as annoying as it was. I probably would have done the same if I were here with Gwendolyn instead of Sha.
The blades of wind bounced of Sha's shell, but left a few significant chips in it. He wouldn't be able to endure that forever. Unfortunately, our options were limited. We must retaliate, but if we would be successful... well, I had my doubts.
