Malamir x UruOnly the users participating in the breeding may post in this thread. The room can look however you like, within reason.

Malamir hadn't wanted to go on this trip, but she had been overruled. Apparently no one else who could be spared had the temperament to, as Eleanor had put it, 'make a good impression'. Malamir didn't think she had the temperament to do that either, but she didn't make the decisions, and Eleanor had enough else going on that Malamir didn't want to add to her problems. If it weren't for the networking aspect, she might have enjoyed it. She had a good eye for ore, she liked working with it, and the prospect of inspecting the goods themselves was not unappealing. But as for 'establishing trade connections'... Just thinking about it made her head hurt. There were plenty of other Draconics who loved to talk your ear off and contemplate their navels. Couldn't Eleanor have sent one of them along with her? ... No, maybe that wouldn't have made things better. Then Malamir would have had to deal with them the whole time too. 1

Uru was a little too old to be this excited for a trip into town, but he couldn't help it. The sights! The smells! The new people! And without his siblings underfoot this time too, since they were old enough now to have their own jobs. The cart was heavier when he had to pull it by himself, but he was in such good spirits that he didn't mind it at all. Though maybe he should have had more of a mind for the road. He nearly missed his turn. As much as he liked being in town, he had to stick to the routes he knew. He wasn't very good with directions, and if he had gotten lost and missed the appointment, he would never hear the end of it. Fortunately though, he caught himself in time, and before too long, he had arrived at the usual place where his family set up shop without incident. 2

Worse than the inevitable talking her ear off, whoever else had come with her might see fit to argue with her about the ores, which was the one part of the job that Malamir would know better. Price negotiations and things like that tended to go over her head, but they'd be hard pressed to find anyone else in Riverhold who had an eye for ore better than hers.
She thought it would take her more time to spot the Draconic she was supposed to be meeting, but it turned out her worries were for naught. Eleanor had told her that she would know him when she saw him, mostly on account of his size, and now that she had arrived, she could see what Eleanor meant. Malamir had never met a Draconic much bigger than she was until today. She knew they existed, but it was another matter seeing one in the flesh.

Parking his cart and setting up the decorations that turned it into a stall kept Uru busy for a bit -- this was another part that went faster with more Draconics helping out -- but Uru wasn't in any hurry. The Draconics who were here to see him specifically to talk business already knew what he was about, and any curious passers-by who were in too much of a hurry to wait were probably not folks he would want to sell to anyway. Uru never did like pushy types. Lucky for him, he was too big for most other Draconics to get too carried away trying to intimidate him.
He was still setting up shop when he saw the approach of a red Lashak. "Oh! You're Malamir, right?" That was the name he'd been given, anyway. If he was wrong, he'd just apologize and ask for a proper introduction. "I'm Uru! You're here about the ore?"

Malamir wasn't sure what she had expected when she first clapped eyes on Uru; he didn't leave her enough time for that first impression to sink in before he'd turned around and greeted her. Whatever it was though, such a cheerful greeting hadn't been it. She blinked, caught off guard for a moment, but then recovered enough to give a nod. "That's me," she said. "I'm here about the ores." The fact that he had been informed ahead of time made things easier, and it wasn't a bad thing that he was friendly, was it?
As for the ores in question, she could see them piled high in the cart behind Uru. That wasn't what Malamir had expected to see either. When Eleanor had said 'samples', it had conjured to mind display cases or at least some kind of table with a neatly arranged selection. But she didn't mind getting her claws dirty and rooting through a pile herself. Indicating the ore with a toss of her head, Malamir said, "Can I take a look?"

Malamir didn't look like she was having as good a day as Uru was, but then she lived here, so being in town probably didn't perk her up the way that it did for him. Still, maybe some of his good mood would rub off on her by the time they were done! He could always hope, anyway.
Uru brightened when she asked if she could take a look at the ore herself. "Go right ahead!" Usually he got asked to pick something out to show them, but sometimes a customer wanted to do their own digging around. Uru was happier to see those folks, since the ones willing to do it usually knew more about what they were looking for, and he didn't have to explain as much to them. Not that he minded explaining, but sometimes he didn't know how to convey something, or he didn't quite understand what they wanted.
