WHAT CAN YOU RIDE??
1. The Creature have a minimum of 3 stamina OR strength to carry the weight of a (normal sized) rider on land or in the sea.
2. The Creature must have a minimum of 2 stamina OR strength to carry the weight of a (small) rider (like fae or kapper) on land or in the sea.
3. The Creature must have a minimum of 4 stamina OR strength to carry the weight of a (normal sized) rider in Flight.
4. The Creature must have a minimum of 3 stamina OR 3 strength to carry the weight of a (small) rider (like fae or kapper) in Flight.
5. A Human-shaped creature is not, and never will be, a mount. Sure, you could hold onto it's shoulder, but you cannot use it as a mount.
6. The creature must be large enough to support the bulk of a rider. A house-cat cannot carry a person, even if it's strength is magically 137. Likewise, a pygmy Equillion is too small to carry a normal-sized rider.
7. Use common sense. If a creature is ethereal, you can't ride it. If it's covered in thorns, you can't ride it. If it's a giant snake, where would you sit or hold on...? You wouldn't be able to, that's where. Use common sense.
8. When using a Elixir of Giant growth, all small creatures become the size of a medium pony (small horse). This allows them (if their strength and stamina allow it) to barely carry a single rider on the ground. As for flight (via elixir), please keep in mind the strength/stamina requirements.
Mount Categories
Traditional (quad) Land Mounts
To ride a traditional (quad) land mount, you must train in this riding category.
Quad Land mounts are your typical 4-legged (or sometimes more-legged) mounts. They have the typical gait of a horse or a deer, and are fairly easy to learn to ride.
Equillion
Pasha-Sarane
Galabex
Drej
Baakir
Traditional (bi) Land Mounts
To ride a traditional (bi) land mount, you must train in this riding category.
Bi Land mounts are those few mounts which walk or run on two legs, rather than four. It takes a different knowledge and type of balance to learn to ride on a Bi Land mount.
Chiryma, Chiryma v2
Dash-claw, Bionic Dash-Claw, Dashaak
Traditional (bull) Land Mounts
To ride a traditional (bull) land mount, you must train in this riding category, and have 3 points in strength or more. Smaller humanoids are usually too small for the bull-like beasts to even notice that they have a rider tugging at their reins.
Thundergug
Golossle, Golossle v2
Murp
Snorfle (giant only)
Laredo
Traditional (independent-winged) Flying Mounts
To ride a traditional (independent-winged) flying mount, you must train in this riding category. You must also have trained in any land mount previously (or land mount category).
Independent-Winged Flying mounts are creatures with wings designed so that their riders can easily have a place to put their legs, either in front of the wings, or between the wing and the body (as with the case of the gallor). Most flying mounts, including winged horses, go into this category.
Wiurn, Wiurn v2
Gallor
Vespa
Sarane
Greater Dragon-Oak
Traditional (broad-winged) Flying Mounts
To ride a traditional (broad-winged) flying mount, you must train in this riding category. You must also have trained in any land mount previously (or land mount category).
Broad-Winged Flying mounts are creatures with "nowhere for a rider to put their legs" traditionally. It takes a different sort of riding skill to fly an Alurook than it does to fly "a horse with wings".
Alurook
Giant Clockwork Avian
Pteropty
Traditional (horizontal) Sea Mounts
To ride a traditional (horizontal) sea mount, you must be able to "swim", as well as train in this riding category.
Horizontal Sea Mounts are those mounts that move through the water with a "side to side" motion, moving like a serpent or fish.
Pliathor
Seryn
Traditional (vertical) Sea Mounts
To ride a traditional (vertical) sea mount, you must be able to "swim", as well as train in this riding category.
Vertical Sea Mounts are those mounts that move through the water with an "up and down" motion, moving like a dolphin or sealion.
Neptica
Majikiuma
Lasiobel
Exotic Mounts
To ride an exotic land mount, you must simply train in the exotic mount (specific to the species).
Most Exotic Land mounts have a way of moving that does not fit easily into any of the other training categories. Cats, Wolves, and Bears (for example) move in an entirely different way than bulls or horses - and it takes a special kind of training to be able to ride them.
Vulticus (cave line-arts)
Estharne, Estharne v.2
Seeker (spineless only)
Formica
Chelcauda (special saddle required)
Nyssa
Phil
Talkesh
Half-breeds (you must specify the type of half-breed, such as Vultion, for each time you take the skill)
1. The Creature have a minimum of 3 stamina OR strength to carry the weight of a (normal sized) rider on land or in the sea.
2. The Creature must have a minimum of 2 stamina OR strength to carry the weight of a (small) rider (like fae or kapper) on land or in the sea.
