Renathan could tell, over his time of experience with animals even before he had began his life in the Labs, that the two orbaru would be fine. But having a veterinarian here to help look after them would be quite nice; especially since he still was hoping to somehow salvage this today. The two orbaru hardly had the time to notice each other right now, and that was a mess. Renathan carefully replaced the ice cubes, and checked both of them with the (very short-furred) undersides of his wrists. Good, good, they were cooling down, right down. They would be fine. It wasn't long after this that one of the breeding center helpers came back toward him, with someone else in tow. A stethoscope later and of course a thermometer, and Renathan was given the a-okay to try to get them to breed today if they actually would. Thank goodness, Renathan was sure that they had been fine but he hadn't noticed how anxious he was about this. Well, now it was okay, he thought. Soon enough, Mabon stood up, shaking her body off carefully, and bumbled over to the male, laying down closer to him, touching her nose to his shoulder.

Well, at least it looked like they would get along. Renathan had been pretty surprised the other day when Lazare and Cinnabon had a tenuous friendship at best since the little female tended to be so... Surprisingly violent for an orbaru? Renathan hadn't been sure what to think about all of that ear pulling that she does, only that she had been doing it from birth really. However, this pair that was here today was thankfully back to the orbaru 'normal'. He felt like he wasn't quite used to the normal orbaru grind anymore, but he was super thankful for it all the same. Of course, he was glad that the orbaru were getting back to normal from the overheating incident as well. As soon as the pair had began to move around normally again, Renathan stood up and began collecting everything, cleaning the little area that he had messed up a bit trying to make sure that the orbaru pair would be okay. Finally, Renathan managed to get the area clean, and then he gently guided each orbaru into their own little carrier. Of course, he needed to control the pair this go around, now that they were feeling quite a bit better.

Better safe than sorry, the mammalian thought. Now that they had the presence of mind, Renathan did not need to allow them to breed too early. Not before the berry was ingested, and not before they got to the sterile rooms. The breeding center wasn't really huge on that, and it was why Renathan tried to keep his critters under wraps until they were able to get back there, at least. "Alrighty, let's get in line you two..." He mumbles, and then picks up and moves over to the line. The line was long, what was new? Absolutely nothing, he was used to that. Of course, he had spent a lot more time here today already than he had been planning, especially since he was only just now getting in line after having had a severe setback with the incredibly heat. He was making up for the last two breedings he had done that month between his orbaru pairs. The first he had come in early in the morning so as to avoid the rush and only wound up waiting for the breeding center to open. The second; he had been put to the front of the line for having a battle orbaru that day.

He really wanted to get this pair fixed up and worked on, but it was going to take some time it appeared. They weren't really enjoying being back in the carriers, but they were alive and well at least. Renathan had gotten here as quickly as he possibly could have had, and it had still been way too hot. Sometimes, that sort of thing just happened. He realized that he hadn't really had a drink himself, and he told himself that he'd give himself a drink once they got back to a room. He always carried his backpack, and almost always had water bottles in it. It was important for him to keep hydrated, and he was the same for all of his pets. He felt bad that it had been so hot outside that neither of his orbaru in this pair had drank any of the water out of their watering tubes. He made sure that there was always water available to his critters, even when on these breeding trips, and it still hadn't been enough... Now they were going to be here even longer, standing at the end of the line as the orbaru stared at eachother through the slats in the carriers.

At least they were getting along, Renathan reminded himself. He was doing that chasing around in circles thought thing again, and he needed to break out of it. He'd had the foresight to bring himself a notepad so that he could work on some new designs, but he couldn't really carry both orbaru carriers at the same time as he worked on a design. The curse of only having two hands, he could have chuckled, but managed to keep himself from doing it. Renathan finally gave up on that idea after trying to get back into his backpack for a moment and failing quite miserably. Of course, he could sit down the orbaru, but then whenever the line moved up, they would have to shuffle around to be able to move forward. Renathan sighed, he was just going to have to deal with the line today. Totally his fault, though. He really didn't have room to complain. After a moment or two, the orbaru began booping at one another in the carriers, and staring at one another with their pale eyes. Renathan smiled beneath the mask; a bit calmed by this. He was actually glad to hear them add to the cacophony of the breeding center.

Usually loud noises annoyed Renathan, but the orbaru pair getting overheated earlier had actually scared him quite a bit. He hadn't known what was going to happen, and felt a bit selfish that he was still planning on breeding these two today, even though they were doing okay now. Then again, bringing them back home immediately in this heat would be a terrible idea, and not only that, but he knew that they would be here a while anyway to wait out the heat. The pair seemed to want to go through with it as well. As much as an animal that runs off of entirely instinct (heck, could one even call it that with orbaru?) could want to do anything, truly. Renathan tried to put his mind at ease. At least he was worried about this stuff instead of the other thoughts that had been snaking their ways through his mind recently. Those were concerning at best. Mabon was beginning to hop up and down in the carrier, drawing him out of his reverie. He gently swiveled the carrier to where he could peer into it with two pale pink eyes. "What do you think you are doing in there?" He asked, mock-incredulously.

This sort of thing was exhausting to Renathan. Perhaps he would give it just a quick rest before working on the final pairing for the month? He was lucky to even be able to do that pairing, what with the gift from the kid and all, but he had to think about all of the other stuff he had to do too. Of course the standing in line thing was eventually going to get to him; orbaru breedings were a ton more work than the odd pachee breeding. Sadly, he just didn't like pachee nearly as much as orbaru, and that was that. He didn't feel like breeding them near as much as he loved to work with his orbaru. It was a conundrum, and every single time he came to the labs it became more and more of a knot. The mammalian scooted forward along with the line, trying to be relatively quick on his toes himself. The poor counter worker looked as exhausted as ever, and Renathan for once felt it too. Perhaps he had gotten a little overheated as well? He had been so worried about the now-happy and booping at one another pair that he'd forgotten himself in the meantime.

Renathan finally sighs, and sits down the pair of orbaru carriers, giving his arms a moment to rest. The line was hardly moving now anyway, so he could just bend down and pick them up soon enough. This was the longest he'd ever been in line, he thought, and he was starting to feel a bit lightheaded from the heat earlier. Renathan opened up his backpack and then pulled out a nice bottled water. It was a bit hot, but he could deal. Renathan opened it up and took a sip, and then reminded himself to drop down and get the two carriers pointed towards one another so that the orbaru could play with one another while they waited. As soon as Renathan did so, Mabon jumped at the chance, sticking one of her paws out to try to reach Sirius. Sirius was still as shy as usual, hesitating while looking at her, blinking his broad eyes. Renathan stood back up, hardly paying attention to them since orbaru tended to be quite okay, and then he took a sip of his water bottle again. He knew not to drink too much of it at once, since it could make one sick if overheated.

Renathan wasn't minding it at all, but he did hope that he didn't look like he was purposefully causing a scene. He was impatient, but only with himself, and not with the poor overworked breeding center team. He felt bad for them, for sure, and would never imply that they weren't doing their jobs. They were constantly working super hard to get everything ready; but there were so many people around right now. That was just a mess, for sure, and Renathan was both sad for them and not envious of them at all; he was lucky not to have to work here himself. Renathan couldn't help but find his eyes drawn to a small rabbit breeding center worker as they came around him from coming in the door. He wasn't sure why, but they looked super distinctive. This individual took the position of the grateful over-tired individual that was working the counter, and then that individual left. Renathan had an apologetic look on his face as they walked past, but of course his mask was obscuring this entirely. He was already starting to pick up the facial expressions of the Labs-people... At that, Renathan heard a noise from the orbaru pair at his feet.

Renathan was confused, and glanced down to look at the pair. Immediately he realized what was wrong; Sirius had somehow managed to get his front left foot stuck in the openings of the grate. Just... How? Renathan bent down immediately to come to his rescue, gently taking the paw and moving it through the grate. This was just horrible, he thought; how was this managed? He hadn't had an orbaru do this before. He'd had a silky get a bit of fur caught in it, but he had never had one stick their entire arm through it. After picking up the crate and looking at the creature's front legs to make sure that they weren't hurt; he realized what the issue was. Orbaru v1 tended to have much smaller front legs. "Oh, you have small front legs... I should have thought about that; perhaps y'all will need different carriers?" Once again, Renathan felt bad. Today just wasn't going as well as he would have wanted it to, it would seem that his inexperience with v1 orbaru was certainly causing an issue. "Goodness, I'm a mess today." Renathan wondered if he might just need to stop by a cafe on the way home after work...

Ugh, today was just a bad day. Renathan scooted forward in the line some, after fixing the paw issue for the male. The two were still booping at one another... At least that was working out. Renathan was planning on making sure that his pair was going to be safe as soon as they were out of the line, he was going to take them out of the carriers. Now that he knew that they could get their paws stuck, he was worried about them. Renathan took another sip of his water bottle, and waited. He hadn't even really been watching the waiting room to see how many people were there. They'd already been there so long... He frowned beneath the mask, knowing that keeping this pair from breeding in the waiting room while being out of their containers was just going to be a futile work. This pair was already about ready, he was sure, and he probably needed to get the berry into them in advance. For now, however, Renathan was worried about even getting through the line without one of them getting their front limbs or worse stuck in the grates of the critter crates. That was a certain concern.

Today was just not going his way. However, he was putting in the work and the time to make sure that all of his orbaru were as happy as possible, and this pair was no exception despite all of the negative things that have happened today. Renathan was not worried that the pair wouldn't breed now, but more worried that they would too early if he didn't play his cards right. That was just the way that it was with orbaru breeding, one way or the other. Never a good balance, not unless one really tried and looked out for their critters. It was easy to forget that orbaru were probably one of the more difficult things to breed, not counting perhaps sarane. Renathan sighed, and then scooted the carriers forward a tad, as the line began to move up yet again. He was glad that the line was moving, at least. There were only three people in front of him now. He drank another sip from his water, and scooted the orbaru forward again as the line moved. They were still trying to play through the crates, that was a good sign. Another step forward, pushing the crates. Soon, it would be his turn.

It didn't take too much longer for Renathan to step up to the counter, his tails swishing. No one had entered the line behind him; perhaps because it was now in the hottest part of the day and he was apparently the only one that didn't have the foresight to not drag orbaru out during that time period. He wasn't too surprised, but he was thankful for it in some ways. He quickly began filling out the form, hardly paying attention to the mammalian in front of him working the counter. Sure, they were pretty distinctive, if only because he didn't see a whole lot of mammalian like himself often anymore. He didn't see a whole lot of anyone anymore really, since he'd become more of an eccentric shut-in than he had meant to, but it did keep him out of trouble at least some amount. After finishing his papers, he picked up his two orbaru crates and then took a number. He doubted that he would need the number, but he wanted to go ahead and try to look like he was following all of the rules at least. Renathan found himself quite tired by the time he entered the waiting room.

Renathan sat down, glanced at his number quickly as he sat the two orbaru carriers down, and then glanced around. There really wasn't a ton of people here, to his surprise, but there were still quite a few. His stomach grumbled a tad; was he... Hungry? Renathan tried to remember when he had last eaten; and then realized he'd been so busy this morning that he'd forgotten breakfast. It made a ton of sense, now that he thought about it. He frowned beneath his mask, and then quickly opened up the containers that were now known by him to be unsafe; he kept the female in his lap carefully, and pulled the berry from his pocket. A baby berry seemed like a great idea; multiple offspring (he really didn't care about the genders from this pair- probably females like his last one, he needed more of those) were really good for when one was looking for a specific color and marking outcome. The male played at Renathan's feet, looking up curiously, his little ears curled forward. He wanted to see the female, wanted to play with her, and Renathan wasn't letting him! Sirius made a soft boop, and then tried to climb up Renathan's leg.

In the meantime that it took for Sirius to find a way to climb up Renathan's leg, the female had already been given the baby berry and was munching on it without a thought. Orbaru really were simple creatures, but sometimes it was easy enough to forget that. A lot of his orbaru had a ton of personality, and Mabon was certainly one of the more simple and happy orbaru. He was glad for it. If anything else went wrong today he felt like he was going to go completely off the rocker. However, after the female finally got the berry in her, Renathan helped the male back down off of his lap and put the female down on the floor too. He kept them hemmed in with his legs and the carriers; but not in a way that could get them hurt. Normally, he'd wait for them to be able to go back to the back, but they had been through so much today that Renathan was just... Tired. Ready to go home. The two orbaru chased eachother around in circles, booping and tumbling over one another. Well, it would be any day now, wouldn't it? Renathan joked a bit, but not out loud.
