It was time for the show to begin, and Fiera insisted on going first. Her offering this time wasn't as big and flashy as her usual, but hopefully he would still impress. "Hello ladies and gentlemen!" She said, standing before the audience, in front of a large tank of water. "I have a strange and miraculous creature to show you today- behold, Savitri! Savitri, step up!" She said, and lowered her arm towards the water. She had a thick metal gauntlet on- no doubt the audience was expecting a creature of claw and tooth to grab onto her arm- but instead there was a splash and a medium sized fish flopped itself over her arm. The audience chuckled, the tension cut- and yet, he didn't seem to be a normal fish. For one, he wasn't affected by being in the air at all. And why would he- seryn could fly and flutter through the air with ease when they got older. (Fiera uses Chain Bracer, Savitri uses Step Up.)

Fiera walked along the audience, showing her pet off. It was difficult for him to stay balanced, wrapping his tail and fins around her arm as best he could, but the longer he stayed out of the water the more the audience realized he was truly special. It would have been better if she had the chance to actually teach him to fly but, well, hindsight. "That's right, he can breathe air as well as us! But that's not all! For this fish- is fireproof!" She said, and pulled out a sparkler, striking it against an uncovered portion of the bracer. Savitri didn't even flinch as it came to life, sputtering out flames the same color as his elegant fins. She ran it along his body to no response, the magic held in his scales deflecting all of the heat. A murmur ran through the crowd as he stayed focused.

"Ready for the big finale?" Fiera whispered to her pet as she let him splash back into the pool. He whipped around in an instant, his eyes blazing metaphorically- and no doubt other parts of him starting to blaze literally. She held up an unlit torch for the crowd to see. "Of course, he's just as resistant to fire from within as well!" She called out, and then held it high over the water. Savitri leapt up with a magnificent splash and opened his mouth, breathing a stream of fire out onto it. The audience gasped, the juxtaposition of elements no doubt beautiful. As he splashed back down the torch caught alight, crackling loudly in front of the crowd. Indeed, it was something that no mundane creature could do, and both Fiera and Savitri soaked up the applause. "Ladies and gents- that was Savitri!" She said, before graciously bowing away.

Vivial was the first of the contestants they had entered who was not appalled by their current surroundings. That, even, was an understatement; she seemed enthralled by them. Her attention was continually darting from person to creature to prop to flashing lights and back. Zenjesi was beginning to wonder if they would be able to recapture that attention themselves when the moment to perform arrived. That was their first hope; their second was that their Gallor would not attempt to demonstrate any magics on anyone else backstage. Thankfully, an opening presented itself promptly, and the satyr thought it best to take advantage. They trotted out onto the stage, still righting the microphone in their hand and fumbling with the switch. "The Gilded Mocker Gallor," they hissed into it, at last. "A rare and magical breed." Zenjesi turned, fidgeted with the microphone, prayed their companion was listening, and whispered into it, "Vivial, come." Offstage, her head pivoted towards them at the sound of her name. Much to their relief, she welcomed the opportunity to explore further, and bounded to join them.

The Gallor arrived by their side with bright and cheerful chirping, her wings rustling as she surveyed the scene. She was in constant motion, pacing around Zenjesi, tail swishing, head cocking, ears flicking. The satyr wavered for just a moment, becoming just as distracted by her behavior as she was by the stage. "Ah... Her magic waxes and wanes by the breath." They threw an arm out. The sudden movement was enough to capture Vivial's attention. She froze, and this allowed all to watch as the glow in her eyes pulsed, stronger, weaker... then surged to their brightest yet, then dimmed again. Then she became bored with their arm and began to move once more.
"This is not all..." Lowering the microphone, they whispered to their Gallor only, "Vivial, mimic." A few more words, and then they held the microphone up to her beak.
"Thank you for coming!" the Gallor whisper-shouted in Zenjesi's voice.

Silver sat quietly backstage with a handful of small trinkets. They went over and over in their heads how each piece fit into the show, just in case they forgot the instant they stepped out into the spotlight. They could hear their competitors finishing up their shows and soon it would be their turn. Lumie sat next to them, her head rested against their thigh. As soon as she stopped paying attention, she would droop through the chair and have to bounce back up into position when she realized she was doing it. They couldn’t help but to giggle, thinking about how she was so incredibly magical that she did it by accident. Though ethereal creatures were commonplace in their own life, they were still quite rare overall. It was entirely possible that members of the audience had never seen such a creature. Except, perhaps, if they caught their performance last time they were here with her. “It’s our turn,” Silver said, flicking their ears back. This was the hard part. They took a deep breath to steady their nerves and pushed their way through the curtain and onto the stage. [157.3, 13]

For someone who really hated crowds, they certainly spent a lot of time in front of an audience. There was something about the show ring that mesmerized them. They did their best to focus on their creature, rather than all of the people watching. That's why they were there, after all. It wasn’t about fame, or impressing people, or even contest points. It was about getting the chance to shine a light on their incredible creatures and their unique abilities.
“Welcome to the Magic Show!” Silver said as they took centre stage. They waved a hand dramatically and a rain of sparkles followed suit. Sure, the show was about Lumie’s magic, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t add a bit of dramatic flair of their own.
“Presenting - Lumie! Ghost of moonlit winter nights.”
The lights dimmed slightly so that a little glowing white star at the center stage was more visible. The star was surrounded by dense glitter on a dark background, all suspended within a glass dome. As her name was called, Lumie appeared from under the stage through the globe as if she erupted from the star itself. She landed gently on top of it, balancing on the top with only her front two feet. Of course, since she weighed nothing, she was able to float there without fear of falling or breaking the delicate glass trinket.

Lumie hopped off the globe backwards, doing a flip to show off her long ears and wispy tendrils. She landed next to Silver and looked up at them with her eyeless face. Silver brushed Lumie’s head with a free hand, a quick and silent way of telling her she did a good job, before launching into the next presentation.
They grabbed a mug from a tall table nearby. Steam poured from the top, making it clear that the contents were still hot. They showed it to the audience and said, “Lumie’s invisible touch can freeze anything in an instant.”
They held out the mug at arm’s length and Lumie stepped up on her hind legs to reach it. She touched it gently with the end of her nose and it froze over instantly, just as they said. They turned the cup over and gave it a dramatic shake to prove that the contents inside were, indeed, completely solid.

“Legend has it that you can only see her during the coldest of winter nights, dancing alone on a frozen lake,” Silver waved their arm again, this time to indicate a shallow pool of water that had been sitting unnoticed behind them for the rest of the show so far.
Lumie jumped up onto the ledge of the pool. A piece of ice was sitting at the edge of the water, and Silver gently pushed it in, causing the rest of the already cool water to freeze around it. Lumie jumped up into the air, flipped again, and landed on the piece of perpetual ice. Then she tucked her shoulders in and swam through the ice and into the frozen pool. She stayed under for just long enough to make people wonder where she went before popping back out on the other side. She glided across the delicately frozen surface, and curled up around the unnaturally blue chunk of ice that started the reaction.

“Should you ever be lost on a cold winter night, just look for the light of the moon, it might be closer than you think,” Silver said. The rehearsed routine came out rather quickly, but with relatively few stumbles or mistakes.
A wispy ball of light collected above Lumie until it was perfectly round. She looked up at it, but otherwise did not move. The soft light was not harsh, like looking up at the sun, but soothing and mesmerizing like the full moon in a midnight sky. It fell slowly like a feather, finally coming to a rest on a beautiful lotus flower that unfolded to receive it. Lumie rested her paws around the flower and the light filtered through her translucent frame, causing her to glow unnaturally like a flashlight reflecting off smoke.
Silver smiled softly, thinking that this is what it was all about. The way she looked right there, radiant in the magical moonlight, this was worth all the practice and discomfort.
“Thank you, Lumie,” they said, closing the show in a sincere show of gratitude.

Ingway was an unusual creature, and I was not yet familiar with all of his abilities. I knew enough, however, to show some of his magic to the crowd. It would not be the most intricate show I had ever done, but it would do well enough for some valuable prize points. Ingway’s rarity and mysterious mane were enough to score some points on their own, I thought. He really was quite interesting all on his own. I chose to take the stage in complete silence. I held a festival mask out for the audience to see, displaying it from all angles so they could know it was not a trick. Then I held it out to one side, allowing light to pass through the eyeholes. Suddenly, Ingway jumped out from behind the stage and straight through the mask, appearing to the audience as if he had suddenly appeared from within the mask itself. He touched the ground and let out a low growl with his glowing white eyes turning back toward me. Someone in the audience gasped. [28.6, 5.2] [Using Spooky Mask and displaying Ethereal]

I dropped the mask as if the growl caught me off guard. I hoped my acting would be convincing, for I had practiced just this motion at least a dozen times. The mask clattered to the ground and Ingway’s body sank into a stalking pose. I yanked the mask from the ground and held it up to him, as if it would ward off the vengeful spirit. He growled again and I took an exaggerated step backwards.
Behind the mask, one of my claws held a small glowing creature. A firefly from the festival. I had hidden it there while the audience was distracted. I unfurled my claw and allowed it to fly away, appearing from behind the mask in a similar fashion to Ingway’s entrance.
His glowing eyes narrowed as he focused on the colorful bug. He leaped forward with his indigo claws catching the light. In an instant the bug was torn in two by a mighty swipe of his claws, then it fell harmlessly to the ground in two distinct pieces.

> Xentus, accompanied by...
Well. He'd certainly been just as prepared before for a contest in the past.. Which was to say, he wasn't at all. Ashira flittered lazily after the man as his turn to show was up. Now, how to sell the fact the creature was, in fact, worthy of even competing in the magic show...?
"Greetings! Xentus is here with the mythical, Ashira!", the leopard announced with a flourish. His hands gestured out to the golossle, who's ghastly hide shimmered under the stage lights. "Now then, what is not more magical than the realm beyond? Observe!"
Xentus tried desperately to sell the ghastliness of the bug, even walking right through it to really seal in the fact that it was, in fact, a ghost. A wave a nausea overcame him, causing him to stumble for a moment. "Ah, fret not..", he whimpered, "Just the dense magics within the golossle.. Ah, Xentus might grow faint..."
As quickly as he came, the man retreated behind the curtains to rest, much to the confusion of the crowd.
