Well, sooner or later they were gonna have to move closer to the mansion itself, especially since Morgan wanted to actually go into the mansion this month. Cozette was shuddery, but Morgan was able to coax her to follow, at the very end of the lead, trying to pull the entire way. Morgan frowned and shook their head, but hopefully this would work out eventually. She couldn't be afraid of stuff like this forever, but Morgan was anything if not patient when they needed to be. They walked further in on the grounds, slowly but surely, with Morgan watching for anything odd. On one side, the bushes were meticulously, even mechanically, trimmed. On the other side, they grew wild and horrific. Morgan wondered what was causing the eccentric (hah) mansion choices this month. It was definitely weirder than the other ones Morgan had seen so far; even the ocean-like ones weren't this odd.

Morgan was looking at Cozette one moment, hoping that she would start cooperating soon enough, but the next second Morgan heard a noise. Probably the weirdest noise that they had heard in a long time. They couldn't place it, and it immediately piqued their interest a tad. Morgan turned around, looking for the source of the noise to put a 'face' or 'image' to that sound, and finally they realized that there was something beyond them, walking up the path. It was small, quite small. Morgan couldn't place what it was at first and shuddered a little bit, just because they could feel the chaotic HUM that was going through them this month. The mansion was practically crawling with chaos, and Morgan wasn't sure what to expect going from here on out at all. They tried to get Cozette to move quicker, so that they could go see what the thing was.

Cozette, however, was just not cooperating. Morgan hated continuing to assume that Cozette should be more like Nico. Nico was not, after all, brought to the mansion immediately upon getting him. Morgan had trained him particularly well first and then brought him to the mansion. Really, it shouldn't be that surprising to Morgan that Cozette was not to that point yet. However, they couldn't just help but assume that they were with Nico before remembering that Morgan indeed had brought Cozette instead. Nico was being pampered for the contest. He didn't have time to fiddle around in the mansion grounds for at least a while. Maybe even the whole month, Morgan hadn't really thought about the entire thing up to this point. Morgan really should have checked the dates and just jumped on the bandwagon immediately. That would have perhaps made more sense, now Morgan had no idea how long he was going to be incapacitated. Morgan couldn't deal with that now, right now they were at the mansion, and trying to get close to the inside of the mansion, but the houluh was just not having it today. Slightly frustrated, but willing to wait, Morgan stopped trying to pull her along again, and instead managed to just barely get them over into the path so that whatever was coming down the path would have to come to them if it wanted to continue to in fact go down that path. So Morgan would wait on it, and Morgan would also not have to fight Cozette for a little bit. She would get used to the 'scary place' soon, Morgan hoped. They felt a little lonely, being here without being with Nico but with being around a houluh. They felt like something was auspiciously missing. A link, perhaps? If Morgan hadn't been standing still, they would have stopped dead in their tracks.

It had not at all occurred to Morgan until just this moment, but apparently Nico was much more loyal to Morgan than Morgan had even thought. It had snuck up on them entirely, but it would appear that the 'psycho-social' bond that Morgan had read about previously had actually gotten quite thick with Nico, and perhaps, perhaps he could feel, or sense, or see Morgan's emotions. That was a terrifying thought, because if so, Morgan noticed that they had not at all noticed it on their end. On one hand, that was terrifying and creepy. How many of Morgan's other creatures had this level of psycho-social bonding? Morgan had always thought that they would feel it if something like that happened, but apparently it was a silent sort of thing. They only just barely missed it right now, noting that Cozette felt dead in the water when it came to that; Nico always felt so sparky in that way?

It was a horrifying thought, that it was so easy for creatures to just... Get to that stage. It felt like a violation, perhaps, on Morgan's end. Morgan hadn't noticed that they could sense Nico's emotions so easily, they had just assumed that they had gotten used to his body language. That was why Morgan felt at a loss with Cozette. Morgan couldn't feel Cozette's emotions like that. It was a sort of shocking revelation that made Morgan a bit ill. However, they were trying to focus on something; and they chose that strange thing trotting down the path. It was really small, Morgan could tell now, and it was getting closer. Soon, Morgan would be able to actually make out what it was entirely. "Well, Cozette, that explains so much." Morgan mumbled, looking at her. Perhaps there would be time in the future to work with her more and really get her to train properly.

It still made Morgan feel a little uncomfortable and perhaps (not that they would admit it) a little shaky to think that a link that important could have snuck up on them like that without their knowledge. Perhaps, if lucky, he would perform even better in the future now that Morgan knew to be as careful as possible with their emotions around him... Not that they were good enough to really do that. They may be able to hide their emotions in front of people, but it didn't work to well when they were by theirself, or near their creatures. They tried, nevertheless. It was important to them to try to continue to be as inscrutable as possible in this manner. However, right now, they felt like someone else was here, perhaps. Someone that was a little more powerful than Morgan. That made their mouth a tad dry, but it also made them angry.

Morgan wasn't sure why it took until now for them to truly notice that, but now that they did it made them shudder in their thankfully too-large labcoat. The houluh had been terrified before even stepping foot in the inner grounds, but Morgan had taken until now to feel that semi-magical breathing down their neck, so to speak. Yes, there was a stronger mage nearby, and Morgan naturally reacted, eyes buzzing tv-fuzz over a glowing green. They stood stark still, and a breeze floated past. Then they turned around, slowly over their shoulder in an attempt to figure out exactly what it was without giving away their emotions about the manner. Looking defiant. Yes; there was someone else there, someone tall. Dark hair flatted fairly messily across their face in the wind. Morgan recognized this individual, and gave them a half-salute with one particular finger. The other 'human' proceeded to chuckle. Cozette still looked terrified.

Geeze Cozette, Morgan thought, if this was all you were scared of then you are a wuss. However, of course that wouldn't wind up being what she was afraid of; not that Morgan or the individual knew at that point. Morgan waved the individual over with a curt hand motion. They weren't worried about anything, but didn't want to walk to him, since they were already waiting on whatever that tiny thing was to get down the path so that they could look at it. Morgan didn't think anything of it until they noticed several things about the individual- the first was the limp. It was beyond exacerbated, more so than people like their-selves tended to have with their ankle differences anatomically to normal humans and even most humanishes. The next was that his eyes were still glowing a pale cream-pink, which was something that one elemental seemed to understand against another was most of the time a show of fear or anger.

That actually made Morgan scoop up Cozette and whatever thing was near their feet, shove the thing and whatever it had in it's mouth in their backpack, and then run towards the individual. Something was wrong. The question was, what was it and should Morgan be concerned for their own safety? Of course it wasn't whether Morgan was afraid of being attacked or anything, it was entirely worried for Cozette. She wasn't any sort of trained, and heck, Morgan already worried about Nico way more than they should considering that he was nearly completely trained at this point all things considered. Morgan shuddered just thinking about the idea that Cozette might be caught up in something just because Morgan sometimes made some particularly poor decisions at times. They made it to the individual pretty quick, and then held him up gently as he nearly tripped. He wasn't a big fella, and that was good. [19]

Morgan was not a strong individual; in fact it was not uncommon for people with their heritage (now that Morgan knew about it) to have this affliction. However, the man's relatively lack of muscle mass and weight (once again, something pretty common among their heritage) allowed for Morgan's single arm to be enough to catch him. "What the hell happened to you?" Morgan demanded once the individual righted himself. He looked like he had fought himself out of the grip of a tiger; his pants legs were partially torn in places, and Morgan caught a glimpse of something that actually made them grab the individual and lay him down on the grass for a moment. Cozette was sat down on the grass as well, and Morgan held the leashes handle on their arm as they looked through their backpack for any kind of first aid. Across the man's side was a huge gash, and it was oozing blood through his shirt.

Morgan took off their backpack immediately, and pulled out the herb mixing device. They they frantically began selecting herbs for the healing salve. They also had brought a first aid kit, but this gash was far too thick for something like this. Cozette cowered beside Morgan as Morgan worked the best they could. Usually Morgan wouldn't give someone else the time of day with this sort of thing, but they knew this individual; and they had answers possibly that Morgan needed eventually. After a moment, the healing salve is created, and they quickly slather it across his side, feeling a little bit of yick at touching his skin. Immediately the flesh is knitted together and his breathing slowly began to become more even and less labored. Cozette didn't like Morgan much yet, but she still naturally curled up against Morgan's leg worriedly, naturally trying to be safe and shuddering from the fear of the situation.

Now that the individual was okay, Morgan takes a lean back, and quickly puts the items back in their backpack. They couldn't just leave him here, to get hurt again, especially when Morgan had no idea what caused this even once. However, Morgan didn't want to stay here either. They quickly grabbed him by the shoulders and dragged him carefully to a tree, leaning the fellow up against a tree in order to keep him from being harmed and to be able to watch him better. Cozette followed only because she was at the end of the leash and didn't want to be dragged along. Morgan leaned back on their haunches for a moment and then stood up, glancing around. What is this; why was... Why was this a thing? Morgan wondered, only just now being able to actually think for a second or two. They hadn't been able to think during all of... That.

Now Morgan had too much time to think. They really needed to be going around and checking the mansion for anything of interest, but also Morgan couldn't step away from this individual, not when whatever did this could still be out there, waiting to do it again or maybe even hurting Cozette. They couldn't take him any further away, though until he woke up. Ugh, this going to suck, Morgan thought. They'd have to be here for a while; to watch this. "Well Cozette, what do you think? Your first sight of someone's injury, huh?" Morgan reached out and gently patted her on her head and smoothed down her back trying to get her to calm down and stop being shivery. She was definitely worried about the situation, she'd obviously never seen and smelled blood that close. She was all shivery, and Morgan felt bad that she was so effected over it.
