Fiera ambled her way over toward the door with a glyph on it, eager to see what a bathroom in this place might even look like. Despite everything, she couldn't actually recall having ever seen one in here. Magic mansions didn't need bathrooms, so maybe it assumed people didn't either. Just as she reached out for the doorknob however, she felt Aspen grab onto the back of her shirt. "Huh? What?" She said, her ears flicking high up on her head. Had they... detected something? Something off about the bathroom? Had she been saved from some terrible fate that Aspen's plant-senses could only detect? Aspen shook her again, waking her from her stupor, and pointed behind them. As Fiera glanced over their shoulder, her eyes widened. Ah. She definitely should have noticed that sooner, she realized with a start. That was... a whole PHIL, right in the middle of the room.

It was an odd looking one to be sure, devoid of armor. Instead of the traditional brown pelt, it had soft looking white fur, like a frostiron PHIL. And yet, without the armor it still looked just as impenetrable and invincible as a normal PHIL. It glanced up at her with scraps of meat present around its mouth and whiskers. "Ah." Fiera squeaked. "Well, at least you've already eaten?" She said, the thought not comforting her nearly as much as she thought it would. She glanced back at Aspen, who was trying their best to hide themself behind Fiera completely. "Hey, where are you going?" She hissed quietly. "It's a lot less likely to eat you than me! You're made of wood!" She said, but the dryad continued pushing their way back. She groaned as the PHIL turned toward her fully. She had to make a decision here- try and tame it, or run.

As it stood, the PHIL made the decision for her. Finally noticing the humanish and her leafy companion, it too a couple of lumbering steps toward her, sniffing loudly. Fiera gave off a muted swear under her breath, hoping that it was nicer than it looked. The beast came close to Fiera, its breath nearly visible in the cool air, little chunks of... something dripping off of its lips. Fiera bit her lip and got ready to bolt back towards the staircase- maybe it would be narrow enough that the beast couldn't follow? But her fears were abandoned when the creature began sniffing at her pockets instead. "What are you... oh." She said, pulling out the chocolates she had found earlier. "Did you want some of these?" She asked. The PHIL reached up a massive paw, and Fiera immediately threw the candy on the ground for it, not wanting to worry about it even accidentally touching her.

The PHIL chewed up the little pieces of chocolate happily, though Fiera still had some left in her backpack. As she made her way back up the staircase- Aspen in front, of course- the PHIL followed her, slowly but surely. She realized that it wasn't being quite as aggressive as she thought, and gave it a bit of extra time to maneuver around the tight spirals. By the time they made it back into the cafe, it almost seemed exhausted. She glanced behind her- at least if it decided to attack at this point, she and Aspen had a clear shot at the door out of here. If she could slam it shut in time, they might just get out of it unscathed. As it stood however, the PHIL seemed to have no intention of doing so. Apparently it was already full, so Fiera was free to move about as she liked.

Fiera was waiting in the cafe, weak winter light filtering through the windows. The PHIL she had tamed was still lumbering its way up the spindly staircase, and Aspen was sitting at a nearby table, waiting patiently. At least one of her pets was good at waiting around- Fiera wasn't though. This was taking forever, and she would certainly appreciate some manner of entertainment. Thankfully, something interesting began to... well, happen. Aspen noticed it first- Fiera saw them perk up from their spot at one of the etched tables. "...What?" Fiera said, realizing they were giving her a funny look. Then she turned to look over a shoulder... and both she and the creature she found herself face to face with jerked back with surprise. Fiera shimmied a few steps to her left, definitely to give it more space and not just because it managed to spook her. No, definitely not that.

There was- a harachiu? Fiera didn't think they lived here. Normally you only ever found signs of them around the gardens, leaving their offspring behind in flowers, very very rarely. The creature certainly seemed as shy as one, hovering at arm's length and eyeing her suspiciously. As she looked at it closer though, she realized that it might not be one after all. It had slightly different proportions to a harachiu, with more spindly fingers and toes than what she was used to. Plenty of harachiu had different wings, but she realized that this one's ears were different as well, as filamentous and fluffy as its wings. It was definitely a unique creature... and apparently one only found in the mansion. "Well hello there..." She said, watching as it fluttered away from her. It wasn't sure if she could be trusted... that was fair. She would just have to win it over.

She rustled around in her pockets, looking for... aha! There it was! She pulled out some of the chocolates she had collected earlier, still wrapped in their little foil jackets. The thick lining of her coat meant that they hadn't been melted by her body heat but instead were mostly likely nice and soft. Perfect for a creature like this to snack on. (Though internally she was hoping that chocolate wasn't bad for it.) The creature landed on a nearby cabinet as she fiddled with one, opening it up and setting it on top of the foil in the palm of her hand. "There we go!" She said, holding it in the creature's general direction. "It's alright, you can have it." She said. And yet... the creature didn't budge. Of course, neither did Fiera. Her patience wasn't the best, but now that a COMPETITION had been made out of it- her willpower over this creature's- she could manage.

The humanish gently pulled a chair away from a nearby table, leaving the chocolate mere inches from her arm. And then she sat there and waited. If the critter wanted to claim its sweet treat, then it would have to trust Fiera long enough to come and grab it. It's not like she was acting very ferocious either- in fact, she was doing the exact opposite. She turned her head, avoiding making eye contact with it, and kept as still but loose as she could. The last thing she wanted to do was look tense and ready for action. The little fairy-like creature needed to feel like she wasn't a threat, wasn't a predator getting ready to grab it. After a few minutes she smiled as she heard the whizz of wings. The dark colored creature emerged from its hiding place, fluttering around Fiera and examining her more closely. She gave it a brief smile but didn't otherwise try to move.

Finally, after a few more painstaking minutes the creature finally felt safe enough to land on the table. It edged its way closer and closer until Fiera could even see the whites of its eyes and the loose, sloppy stitching on its outfit. It looked pretty rough, actually- maybe that had something to do with why it was all alone? She could only speculate as it approached though, before it finally reached out and grabbed the chocolate, its hand moving in a flash. Fiera still didn't move though, and after eyeing her suspiciously it sat down... and leaned up against her arm. She watched it with a slight smile as it chewed on the candy, taking huge, eager bites and loosening its wings up, getting comfy. Fiera had found some interesting trinkets while she was here, but this little creature had proven to be the most worthwhile thing she had found yet.

The creature settles down and is happy to have been giving the greatest gift of all: chocolate. On your way home, you stumble upon a pile of perfect purple prizes. How poetic! [Congrats! You've tamed the creature.]

It was the waning days of March but, lucky Fiera, still March. She definitely wanted to take advantage of the month while it was still here. It was definitely... the friendliest time of year to come to the mansion. Other months were harsh and dangerous, but Marsh was almost cartoonishly friendly. Which made sense to a degree- March was the month of Faelot, the season of growth and new life. This was the time of year when baby animals were born and new flowers began pushing up from under freshly thawed black earth. So it made sense that the mansion would reflect that, making itself as small and friendly as possible for the young creatures that might come pass through. It was, in fact, one of the few times of year that Fiera saw actual (human or humanish, that is.) children come to the Mansion instead of being kept far away by their parents. Fiera didn’t have any children of course, and the thought made her shudder… though she did get along well with young critters, didnt she? After all, she had brought one with her today while the weather was fair- one of her freshly revived fossils, a young sea serpent by the name of Serendipity. She had named her for an old story she had read as a child. The contents were almost lost to her mind, but that fair word stood out in her mind after all these years. It only made sense to give such a graceful creature a graceful name. Well… in theory. She hadn’t really let Fiera set her down in the water so much as she lolled out of Fiera’s protective arms and fell in, splashing Fiera’s pants with water. The humanish had clicked her tongue over that for a bit while Serendipity got herself comfortable.

The spot they had found was a small pond, deep in the brightly colored and floral woods around the perimeter of the mansion’s “property”. Or at least, as deep as you could get this time of year- the mansion kept itself surprisingly accessible this time around despite its usual circuitous nature, and it seemed that no matter how far Fiera had wandered into the woodland, if she turned around she could still see the mansion and it’s front gate in the distance behind her. Still, this pond was a godsend for her and Serendipity. The little creature definitely had lungs (and made good use of them when she was hungry), but spending extended amounts of time outside of the water wasn’t very good for her. If Fiera hadn’t managed to find a body of water, she probably would have taken her pet again and gone home.

But here it was, a perfectly round pool. She watched as Serenity drifted around in the water, looking… serene, for lack of a better word. Fiera reached a hand down, testing the waters for herself, now that she was done trying to squeeze as much of it out of the fabric of her pants as she could. It was… odd. She couldn’t really define a temperature for it, other than “comfortable” or “just right”. More bizarre mansion magic, she supposed, but it seemed to make Serendipity plenty happy. The swimmer’s appearance barely suited her. She was such a happy baby, but the color of her scales was deep and gloomy looking shades of indigo, blue, and black. It would much more suitable for a more mysterious creature, but Serendipity was anything but. Who knew though- for all Fiera knew, maybe she would grow into it as she got older.
