Things were looking pretty good so far- the grove was nearly completely clean! Fiera nodded her approval at her surroundings, turning to take them all in. So far, so good. The rocks, branches, and garbage were all stacked by the gate of the grove, Donner was sitting patiently but seemed a bit bored, and Fiera’s back was killing her. She groaned as she tried to crack it, to no avail. All of that together could mean only one thing: it was time to go home already. Sure there was more that she could do, but she didn’t want to overdo it. Besides, there would be plenty to do tomorrow, and the next day. She crouched next to her bag briefly, making sure all of the herbs she picked were well arranged and not in any danger of getting squished. She didn’t have much else to pack though.

Once she was sure her plants were secure, it took little effort for the humanish to zip up the bag and swing it onto her back. She whistled for Donner, only for him to not respond, as he wasn’t a dog. She sighed and waved her arms at him, getting the seeker’s attention. “Hey, come on! It’s time to go!” She emphasized. The snowtracker seeker looked up at her sleepily before yawning widely (a terrifying sight, considering his teeth), stretching, and getting up. “Finally.” She sighed as he made his way over to her side. She picked up the seeker’s leash and took one last look around. The ground was perfectly clean and while the trees still needed trimming, it was better to do that later in the season anyway. She smiled- looks like she was done here! With that in mind she finally unlatched the gate.

Their day had been pretty uneventful all things considered, but Fiera was happy with what she had managed to get done. She was sure that Donner appreciated the break as well, what with how hard they needed to be training. This was likely the last calm before the storm he was getting though- the Winter Wonderbrawl tournament was coming up and quickly at that. Still, for now they got to have one last pleasant walk through the gardens, leaving them in a better state then they were when the pair came in. And with such a nice bounty of herbs and flowers to show for it! Fiera couldn’t be happier with how this turned out- which was quite a difference from her usual chaotic outings, so she would most definitely take the calm while it was here. And if Donner’s slow and careful disposition right now was any indicator, he couldn’t agree more.

It seemed like just yesterday that Fiera had taken Amber out to the Eccentric's Mansion, but the harachiu was relentless in her quest for knowledge. Granted she wasn't very GOOD at acquiring it yet. Fiera hadn't even gotten around to teaching her how to write yet, with the harachiu instead noting down things she was trying to study by staring at it real hard and doing her best to draw it in her notebook. And she wasn't too good at drawing yet, but she was improving every day. Fiera definitely needed to teach her how to read and write sooner rather than later, though. For now though, the harachiu was excitedly running through the grass in a meadow-esque part of Fiera's garden, excitedly examining any interesting leaf or flower she could find... or at least, with as much excitement as she could muster while still maintaining an air of dignity. She was a grown adult, after all. Or at least... she had learned to be. She and her sister Alice had had to grow up much too fast (like many people Fiera had met over the years) due to their upbringing, and only now were they really allowed to branch out into their own desires and interests. Fiera would often catch them experimenting giddily with some toy or topic only to meekly hide it away when the humanish made her presence known. She did her best to assuage their worries, but they tended to retreat back into their shells.
So Fiera was glad for trips like this, where the sheer volume of new things to learn about tended to overwhelm any sense of propriety Amber had, her sheer curiosity taking over her sense of dry bemusement. "Find anything good?" Fiera shouted after the harachiu as she bounced across the field.

Only the tips of Amber's wings could be seen above the grass as she ran through it, giving Fiera a helpful point to focus on. At first the humanish wondered if she had even heard her question, only for Amber to pop back up above the grass. "Not yet! I'm looking for a, uh. D... dicot? Is that the type of flower you mentioned the other day?"
Fiera honestly couldn't remember. If she was being completely honest, she was usually talking out her ass about science and only pretended she knew what she was talking about to impress her pets. She didn't even know what a dicot was. "Yes!" She lied. "I'm sure you'll find one if you look around. There are plenty of flowers here." She said with a nod before glancing around. There really was- this wide clearing in her garden was stuffed to the brim with dozens of species of flower.

It was part of a... oh, what was it called... a rewilding project? Pretty much, the powers that be in the lab were encouraging people to create "tester patches" of wilderness within the bounds of the city, little patches of native plants that would attract native animals to come and live in them. Fiera couldn't care less about all that "environmental protection" crap, but she WAS more than happy to take the credit subsidy that came with it. In return, the labs got to come and do... experiments of some sort in there, on occasion. Fiera wasn't sure what they did exactly- it hadn't happened to her yet- but apparently there were plenty of benefits from having a "native environment" within city lines instead of having to travel abroad to do their experiments. All she had heard from other people was that occasionally they'd swoop in and cordon off your little rewilding area.

From what she had heard, there would be some flashing lights, weird smells, whatever, science stuff, in there for a few days before the scientists would shuffle off sheepishly as quickly as they had come, leaving the area relatively intact. Well, whatever, Fiera could deal with that. If anything, it was worth it just for seeing how happy it made Amber. She leaned over the harachiu's shoulder, where she was eagerly scribbling down a drawing of some sort of small sunflower with a sawed off golf pencil.
It... had the right number of petals, at least. Perhaps some drawing lessons were in order for her too, if she was dead set on being a... what, again? "What's all this for again, sweetheart?" Fiera inquired, tilting her head to one side as she examined Amber's increasingly scribbly drawing before her. The harachiu flicked her ear as if to say "hang on" as she put on the finishing touches.

What's this thing? Oh, it's eating your plants, quick, stop it!

Just before them however, Fiera noticed a gap in the stalks. Fiera's ears folded back a bit- had a dead spot developed? Not enough watering? She trudged over, trying to get a good look at it. Before she could however, a... familiar little head popped up, with its mouth positively stuffed with wildflowers. It was a blue summer koguma, taking its sweet time eating all of her wildflowers. Fiera opened her mouth to shout at it, but Amber immediately shushed her, planting a hand on one of Fiera's legs. "Oh, I've gotta get a closer look at it! Stay there, I'll handle this." She said, fluttering forward. Fiera decided to let her take the lead. If it got scared off, so be it- she had already caught a couple of them before.
"Hey there, buddy..." Amber said as she fluttered closer to it, grabbing a blossom off a nearby flower. "You want something better to eat?

Click click. The creature made a curious noise. What was this little thing making sounds at it? Well it seemed harmless. It wondered if it was edible. Though it was holding out a flower. The flower would probably offer less resistance to being eaten. The Koguma took a hesitant step forward and held out its hands. 'Flower please' it was practically saying.

Amber couldn't help but turn up the corners of her mouth as the koguma turned to look at her. It couldn't be dangerous, or else Fiera would have rushed in already instead of letting her take the lead. Instead, it was... quite cute! Even though it was several times her size. The smile on her face grew greater as it approached her slightly and held out its hands as if saying "gimme gimme". At that she landed, striding forward to offer the flower to the koguma. "There you go! You can take it!" She said, holding it up to the bug. Meanwhile, Fiera watched from behind, her ears pricked high, ready to lash out quickly if it even so much as thought about hurting her harachiu. For now though, she could let Amber have fun- even if she would say later that it was a "scientific research project". But Fiera would know the truth.

The Koguma looked down at the Harachiu as she landed. What an odd little creature. It didn't know what she was, but it did like the flower she was offering. It reached down and grabbed the flower, taking it from her rather forcefully. It inspected the gift for a moment, then immediately shove it into its mouth. Then it clicked again and looked down at her expectantly. Did she have more?

Amber looked up at the koguma as it happily chewed up the flower, smiling. This was almost as good as that one time Fiera took her to a petting zoo. Then it finished, swallowed, and looked at her expectantly. "Uh..." She said quietly. "I think it wants some more." Fiera called unhelpfully from behind her. "I know that!" Amber called back, and began rooting through her bag. She wanted to sketch some of these blossoms herself later, not give them away... but she supposed she could make an exception here. After all, a koguma was a much bigger, nicer thing to sketch. "Uh here... you want one of these?" She said, pulling out a small sunflower she had collected when they first got here. She held it up toward the koguma, hoping it would find it just as tasty. If it lost interest and ran off, then it would be a waste of her effort, now wouldn't it?
