Fiera had only barely brushed the branch when it seemed to explode out of the water, lunging at her. Fiera yelped and stepped backwards, raising the rake defensively before realizing that it was just another lotine. There sure was a lot of them around here, but she couldn’t be THAT surprised considering this was probably the only lotine sized patch of water for at least a couple miles. It definitely seemed aggressive, but she didn’t want to smack it and accidentally hurt it… but as it turned out, it wasn’t exactly up to her. Sebros was unsure of the LAST encounter with a lotine, it having been his first time encountering one, and this simply sealed the deal- these guys were bad news. He ran down the slope and skidded to a halt in front of it, growling loudly and flaring out his wings, trying to look as intimidating as his glittery form would allow.

The Lotine's eyes narrowed as it coiled up onto its tail and rose up, must like a cobra, attempting to be taller than this strange beast who had entered its territory. Though it was usually silent, the deep, foreboding sound of bells could be heard rising from its throat. Ears perked and streaming behind it, forelegs raised up, it crashed back down into the water, attempting to scare off the beast with a wave.

Fiera took another step back as the lotine rose up like a cobra. It occurred to her that she had never seen one of these things FIGHT before. What were they even capable of? She wasn’t sure… but she DID have an inkling about Sebros. Her eyes slid over to the worginu as a wave of water splashed over him. Woops. She probably should have helped him there, but at least getting wet wouldn’t hurt him. It DID make him madder though, and he ran up to the edge of the water and snarled again, his magical aura extending, sending off clouds of insects that now looked more like hot sparks and radiating… SOMETHING into the air. Fiera couldn’t really place it. It wasn’t at full strength, but she felt almost like her limbs were locking up and a part of her brain was screaming “back off”.

The resounding DOONNNNNNNG of a loud, low bell escaped the Lotine, a shriek of despair, the only sound a Lotine could make when something like this may happen, and the Lotine collapsed back down into the pond with its head poking out as well, eyes still narrowed as it started to shrink away. The pool was still mine, it thought, the beast should not follow, with a twitch of the tail.

Fiera winced as the lotine let out one final shriek, falling into the water. She thought for a moment that it was finally defeated, and this whole thing was over and done with… until she saw it start to slink back into the water. “Oh no you don’t. Bet you forgot about me, eh?” She said, marching down the hill. She wasn’t about to let this thing retreat- she still had to contend with it so she could clean the pond already! She reached out with her rake again- keeping herself beyond the lotine’s strike range- and poked it in the side a couple times trying to harry it back toward the shore. “Go on, get! We could have been friends you know! But no! You had to go for biting! Rude!” She hissed. Sebros’ growls quieted and he stepped to the side, seemingly calmed by Fiera stepping in. The real owner of the territory was here now.

Glittering, intelligent eyes stared at the woman. The Lotine would let her clean it... if it could remain in the water. Flicking its tail, the Lotine glowered and snapped as it was poked before pushing its head forward to stare further into her eyes if it could, insistant.

Fiera groaned as the lotine refused to move. “Fine! Fine then.” She said, throwing up her hands. “Rot in there for all I care. I’m still cleaning the pond.” She said and huffed as she turned back to the branch. So long as the lotine didn’t cause her any more troubles, she was willing to leave it where it was. These creatures usually moved on after some time anyway- it likely wouldn’t be there the next time she came to maintain her garden. Sebros stood guard however, keeping a close eye on it where Fiera would not. He had a better idea of what he could do now- and hopefully the lotine would not be so foolish as to try him twice. It could have the water, but it had better not try any invasions on to land, or else he would be there to push it back once more.

After carefully looking at the two, the Lotine finally nodded its head and sunk back down, content with the truce they had come to. The pond would be cleaned, and it would chase off all others who dared intrude.
[Congratulations, you've come to a truce with the Lotine!]

“Well that was a mess.” Fiera muttered to herself as she watched the lotine slink off again into the water. She was sure she’d see it again though , even if it was testing for now. She would have to clean this pond out faster than she planned- testing the creature’s patience was definitely an undesired result. She glanced at Sebros as well, who was standing ramrod still at the edge of the pond. This wasn’t a great introduction to the world for him either. She wouldn’t be surprised if he felt a little paranoid for a while after this, and she could hardly blame him. Would he think there were aggressive serpents in EVERY body of water now? …Well, considering how common pliathor were, he probably wasn’t too far off there. She clicked her tongue and turned back to the pond. She still had work to do.

Trying to drag the branch out of the water, Fiera was hardly paying attention to the hedges behind her. After all, how many more creatures could there even be in this area? Surely that last scuffle between Fiera (well, mostly Sebros) and the lotine had scared off most everything in the area. The worginu was starting to calm down too, the clouds of spectral insects dying back down to their baseline level as his breathing slowed. But then there was a rustling in the hedges and Fiera turned to look just as a koguma leapt from them, bouncing along without a care in the world. “Uh, hey-“ was all Fiera managed to get out before it landed firmly on Sebros’ thigh, stumbling for a moment before falling flat on its face, dazed. Fiera winced- Sebros already had a bad first impression of other creatures. To her relief though, he seemed more baffled than aggressive, leaning over to sniff at the interloper.

The Koguma was a little stunned, it would seem, and swayed back and forth before finally steadying itself. Oh! A new friend! Beaming happily, the Koguma leaned forward and clicked its mandibles at the Worginu, oblivious to the danger.

Sebros looked at the koguma... and then at Fiera. It was clear he had no clue what to do with a creature that wasn't actually being aggressive toward him, and a bipedal insect's body language wasn't too easy for something like him to read to start with. Fiera decided to approach them to try and solve the problem the old fashioned way. She had brought another little satchel of blueberries from home after dropping the last lotine and koguma pair she had tamed back there, but it looked like she wasn't going to get to eat these ones either. "Hey there, buddy." She said, stopping a few feet from the koguma, speaking softly to get its attention. "You want some of these?" She said, opening the satchel and offering it to the koguma, letting it see the round, plump berries she had stored within. Hopefully that would take some of the pressure off of Sebros.

Beaming happily when it was presented with some food, it took one in each hand carefully and then stuffed one in its face. It perked up and clicked through the blue juices that ran down its face and then nuzzled up to the Worginu. New best friend!
[Congratulations, you've tamed the creature!

Fiera was relieved when the koguma didn't give her any more trouble. It was such a welcome difference from the others, which had pretty much bitched and fought the whole way down. In fact, the walk back to the kennels to get it settled was almost pleasant, even though it meant that Fiera had technically been working for hours already and hadn't gotten anything done yet. It was a bit of a pickle... and really exhausting. She had already walked back and forth from her kennels technically three times now, and hadn't even touched the pond yet. Well, no more. She was going to get this pond cleaned even if it killed her. Which... it probably would, considering the angry lotine living in the bottom of it. "...I really hope that thing remembers I'm not trying to hurt it. Or it left. Actually yeah, let's go with that last one." She muttered.
