Chunk… Maybe she should change his name or something, it didn’t really reflect on his body weight correctly or his personality, what she knew of it at least. Right now he was slender and wiry, and she knew he would be a decent hunting Houluh when he grew up, she bet as much at least. He was more named after the chocolate chunks some people put into cookies and brownies and things, considering he was completely brown and all that, not a spot of anything else at the moment. Maybe he would grow into some markings, but she really doubted that was going to be it right now. Ah well, that was fine, she would keep his name and call him Natural’s Chocolate Cream Pie and that would be the end of it. The name hadn’t really seemed to offend him or anything, not that she could offend a Houluh it seemed. They were pretty happy go lucky, and Chunk was the first one she had met who seemed a little depressed.

He was depressed, she thought, because he had been in the adoption agency for so long. Several months, and she had waited to see if anyone would take him, but no one had and she had finally felt some pity for him and adopted him. Now she just had to train him, she knew, but that was the issue. It wasn’t that she didn’t know what to train him now, she did, but it was getting him the experience and messing around the river and fishing that was killing her at the moment. It was frustrating, and she hoped that things would work out for them in the long run. Sighing, the woman shook her head a little and patted him on the head, reassuring him that she was going to be there for him no matter what. Sure he might look exactly like his father and nothing like his sister, but that wasn’t the point of it now was it? Jack looked out over the water, this was a good day so far at least.

Well he was almost ready, she knew that much, but she had to wait a little while longer in order to get this going. Teaching him to sense danger was going to take the longest, followed by biting and clawing, then maybe jumping. That was the thing though, she didn’t know how to train that last one, had she ever trained it before? She looked down at Chunk thoughtfully and shook her head, well she needed to learn sometime, she figured with a little smile on her face, might as well figure it out with him and all that. Maybe she wouldn’t take as long with biting and clawing as she had originally thought, but for now she knew that she was going to stick with what she had for a bit and wondered if it was going to go the right way for them both. Perhaps everything was going to be fine, she didn’t know, but at the same time she knew that things could mess up in an instant as well, she had to stay alert.

While she was used to training, she wasn’t all that used to regular bonding with her animals, which was kind of a shame at the same time. Frowning a little, she wondered if she should do that more often with them, but figured she didn’t really have time, which was a shame. Looking down at Chunk at the moment, she wondered what was going to happen to him when he grew up, and she hoped that people would want to breed with him, but figured that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. Just like his father had only had one breeding so far, he probably wouldn’t be too high in demand. Being a markingless puppy had to be a problem, people liked having markings on their puppies and she knew that things were going to stay that way for now. Maybe some people would like pups like him, but didn’t know it at the moment.

There was a time way back when, when she would happily bond with her animals before training them, all of them, but she just didn’t feel like she had the time anymore for that. It was a shame, of course, but the woman wasn’t sure what else to think of at the moment. She looked down at Chunk and sighed, she wasn’t sure what to do with him at the moment, but that was going to be alright in the end. He would hopefully be in demand for breeding if someone had a Matronne with good coloring and markings, maybe they would want for that to pass down or something, it might work out that way, though there would be the chance of a markingless pup happening at the same time. Hopefully some day he would have pups of his own, but maybe not too soon, she needed to catch up on her pups either way at this point.

She thought about starting his training now, but figured she might wait just a little while longer. It wasn’t going to hurt anything to wait just a little bit, was it? Chuckling to herself a little, she realized it would be fine, they were going to beat their deadline and all would be well. She knew that she could figure out training no matter what happened, and she wasn’t going to surrender Chunk to the adoption agency again no matter what. If she did, she would probably try and adopt him again, but was there a rule in place for that? Shrugging, she realized she didn’t really know or care about that, because it wasn’t going to bother her in any way. Right now they just needed to work together and that was all there was to it. They would start pretty soon though, and it was going to be alright in the long run.

At least he seemed to be happy to be with her, he was slowly coming out of his shell, realizing that he wasn’t going back, at least as far as they knew and would try to get to. Jack patted him on the head again and wondered what they were going to get done for awhile, and she shrugged a little as she realized it didn’t really matter. They would get everything done, it was just going to take some time. As for now, she was going to fish a little bit, and she changed out the bait on her line before casting it back into the river. Chunk eyed it for a moment but then closed his big brown eyes again as he snuggled his head onto her leg a little better. Everything was going to be fine, she knew that, but it was hard to come to terms with it sometimes. Maybe they needed to get started, it was hard for her to come to that though, when she knew he needed a little more experience.

Jack was sure she would catch something eventually, just what it was going to be, she didn’t know. That was the hardest part of fishing, you never knew what you were going to get, and it bothered her a little. She liked the unexpected, however, but she still liked knowing what she could be getting at any moment, it was a weird dynamic inside of her, she figured. With Chunk still laying on her a little, she hoped that everything was going to go alright in the end of it, but she didn’t know what was going to happen for now. As long as she kept trying, however, they would get some things done, and by some things, she meant his training. He would be well trained eventually, she knew, and the woman smiled a little as she thought about it. She knew what to train him so far, so that he wouldn’t be taken, but what else? Would he be well trained enough to get things done for awhile?

At least she had a goal, she figured with a small smile, and it was to keep the puppy and get him grown up. Hopefully she would find him a mate at least once, but wasn’t sure if that was going to happen or not, it was hard believing it might, but she was sure there was a Matronne out there for him to breed with eventually. Maybe she just needed to breed him in her own Kennel sometime, but Luna and Snow were next again, though this time she wasn’t going to use an Offering to Order on that breeding like the last one had done. Would she breed with Obsidion watching Snow again, she wondered? It made sense, he was getting a bit of a Kennel together as well, he seemed to enjoy canines, as she had paid him in a Vulticus for going to a store for her once. Well, he stole from her sometimes, but whatever, it didn’t really matter in the long run did it? Shaking her head, she gave a little chuckle.

Everything was going well for them at the moment, and she knew it was going to be time to train pretty soon no matter what happened. Smiling at him, she moved his head so he wasn’t laying on her and then started to gather some stones and rocks, wondering what was going to happen and what would be the best part of all of this. Jack stacked them into piles of various sizes, and wondered what they were going to do in the end of it all. Well, at least his training would be done at the end of this particular training and all things were done at the moment. Smiling, she glanced over at the little brown lump on the ground that was her newest puppy to the Kennel, and she hoped that everything would go alright in the end. He would come out a little battered and bruised, but definitely better than what he had been before all this training was even a twinkle in her eyes.

[Chunk: Danger Sense – 1]
They might as well start, she figured with a small sigh. She didn’t know how this was going to go, but they would get it done no matter what. Jack tossed a rock into the air and caught it again as Chunk slowly came to his feet and looked at her, tilting his head, his ears flopping to one side. Everything would work for them, but she needed to make sure everything was going to be okay in the long run. She made a show of showing him the rock, and then tossed it lightly at him. It was small, just a little pebble really, but enough to sting when it hit him. Chunk yelped and stared at her after he jumped, he didn’t know what was going on, but this wasn’t the way to do it, he figured. Jack smiled patiently, she would explain what was happening, of course, but for now he just needed to dodge it if he could. That was the part she was banking on, after all.

[Chunk: Danger Sense – 2]
Chunk slumped down a little, sure she was hating him now that they were doing something, but she assured him that wasn’t the case. The woman let him know that wasn’t the case at all and explained to him a little about what was going on. He needed to get out of the way of the rocks and stones she was throwing at him, sense where they were coming from before they hit him and see if he could get completely out of the way. Nodding a little, a very human like gesture he had already picked up from her so far, the pup hunkered down a little and started training with some rather intense zeal. He was ready to prove himself to her, that he could be a good Houluh and do what he was supposed to do, he didn’t want to go back to the adoption agency, even though the big fluffy person had been nice. It was sad watching the others go while he stuck around.

[Chunk: Danger Sense – 3]
Jack smiled, he was going to do well, especially now that she had explained it a little to him. Everything was going to be fine, she knew with a nod, and she threw another rock at him. This one hit him on the side as he attempted to run after seeing it in the air, and she knew it was going to hit him anyway. Sighing a little, the woman patted him on the head and wondered what to do for him at the moment. It wasn’t like she had anything else to do at the moment, well, she had a lot to do right now really, but that wasn’t the point. As she chewed on her lip a little, she wished there was a better way of doing this, but the best way to learn something was if it had a consequence, and the rocks were better for that kind of thing than foam balls. If it didn’t hurt, then there was no urgency, at least that’s what she thought of.

[Chunk: Danger Sense – 4]
Everything would work out, she figured as she lobbed another stone at him. Chunk attempted to scramble out of the way, but just wasn’t fast enough at this point and it still hit him on the side. He whined and licked at where it had hit for a moment or two before growling a little and narrowing his eyes at the woman and the pile of rocks next to her. Jack chuckled a little and wished there was another way to do things, but at least he had the right mentality about the whole thing, right? She pushed a hand through her hair and eyed him before throwing another rock at him, hoping this would miss him, but of course it hit him, this time on the shoulder as he tried to turn and run off. Well, at least he was trying, that was all she could really ask for at the moment, right? Maybe everything would be alright no matter what.

[Chunk: Danger Sense – 5]
It was going well so far, she figured, though all of the rocks had hit him so far. Jack gave a little sigh, not knowing what was going on for the moment right now, but she had to focus on what she was doing, throwing rocks at the Houluh and hoping he would dodge them after awhile. Giving anything, she knew that things were going to be alright in the long run, but she had to keep track on things eventually. Chewing on her lip, she threw another rock at him and it hit him on the haunch this time, though she tried to aim for his head. This was going well already, she knew, and the woman smiled a little as she thought about. Everything was going to be fine, she knew, and she shook her head a little bit as she thought about what to do. Well, this was going to be alright in the long run.
