She walked back over to her catch bucket, but decided against throwing it in. The shell was already dead, what was the point of wasting space in her bucket with it? Instead, she decided to go to her bag and unzip it. She managed to find a hand towel she didn't care about too much and wiped the last of the grit and water off of the shell until it was about as clean as she could get it out here. Then she tucked it away in a side pocket where it was unlikely to get crushed before returning to her home. Then she stood up and brushed herself off. Another nice find! If she kept this up, she would have enough goodies to... uh... kill a horse? She couldn't really think of a metaphor right now, but she was sure if she could it would be a good one.

Her sarane paid her little mind as the humanish marched back into the river, determined to find something else to catch. A shimmering nearby caught her eye- could it be? Another fish to catch? As she crept closer, she realized that it was actually several fish- a whole glittering school. They were pecking away at the bottom of the riverbed, picking up any food that had floated down from the surface or any juicy crustaceans that had risen up from the mud. Well, now they were the prey today- or at least the source of more money for Fiera. Quick as a flash, Fiera dove forward, stabbing her net into the water and swiping it upward. To her dismay, Fiera saw some fish that she practically slapped out of the water flying into the air instead of into her net. Oops. That wasn't what she was trying to do here. Poor fish.

Thankfully, it splashed down a few feet ahead harmlessly. She cringed a bit as she watched it fall, but hopefully it would be ok and would be able to regroup with the rest of its school soon. It looked like the rest of the fish had scattered, as the spot of water she had been watching was now empty. That didn't mean her net was, though! It looked like despite her rather violent attempt, she still had two wriggling fish in her net. They were the same size and shape, but one had a more yellowish tinge while the other was closer to blue. Fiera chuckled victoriously and ran back up to the shoreline, plodding toward her catch bucket. She managed to pop off the top quickly, and dumped the fish in the bucket before they got hurt. They carefully sequestered themselves on one side of the bucket, not wanting to leave each other alone.

Fiera was pleased with that and closed the bucket, ready to move on. Algol was busy rolling around in the water again, so she figured he didn't need any help right now. Were it not for the razor sharp claws, mouth full of fangs, and intimidating horns, Fiera would say he almost looked cute like that. Still, he seemed to be doing a pretty good job of entertaining himself, so Fiera decided to move on and keep fishing. With the net in hand, she waded back into the water, glad for her tall boots. She wasn't exactly dry per se, but she was certainly a lot less soaked than she would have been without them. Besides, the water on her body made this trip almost pleasantly cool. Still, it was hard to decide whether she wanted to smell more like river water or sweat. Neither were really good options right now.

At least she didn't have to worry about it too much though, as she spotted a new quarry hiding in some weeds. It was small, but shiny, and Fiera was always a fan of shiny. As she walked, more weeds stuck to her legs. She huffed and pulled them up before tossing them to shore. The last thing she needed right now was to trip and fall over. If anything was going to scare off the fish, it would be that. She didn't consider that the plants might be valuable too as she was pulling them up, but realized it afterward and made a mental note to go back for them later. Soon though, she was about as close to the fish as she dared go without disturbing it. Her shadow was away from the fish, so all she had to do was make a single clean strike with her net.

Unfortunately, it seemed like it just wasn't going to be that easy for her. Just as she was about to strike, Fiera heard a splashing coming from behind her. Her ears flicked in that direction just before she turned her head and saw Algol barreling toward her. Apparently he felt pretty playful right now, and saw no one better to take it out on than Fiera. She glanced back and forth between him and the fish that was still peacefully flitting around the plant. Did she dare strike at it, when Algol could barrel her over in the next instant and send it flying again? But if she didn't, chances are he would still scare it away when he got close enough. If she did catch it and get out of his way though, would he still chase her and knock her over? Or even worse, her bucket of caught fish?

She needed to make a decision and fast. Fiera growled under her breath with indecision for a moment before finally whipping around and surging her net toward the spot before it was too late. In a flash, she could see the bright green weeds that the fish was swimming around in through the webbing of her net, but she didn't stick around long enough to see if the fish made it in too. Instead, she turned tail and started sprinting toward the shore and her catch bucket, hoping that the water would slow down her sarane long enough for her to get there in time. She heard him huffing with excitement behind her, and tried to put on an extra burst of speed to stay ahead. She might not have as many legs that she could move as fast, but she was certainly lighter and nimbler than Algol, and she was hoping that would let her keep ahead.

She felt a stab of relief when her feet finally hit sandy mud, and as she approached the bucket she felt that she was going to make it. Still, she heard the pitter patter of claws on sand as she pried the lid off, and a growl reached her ears as she dumped the river weeds into the bucket. She slammed the lid back on as quickly as possible, and rolled out of the way as she felt hot breath on the back of her neck. "Algol! Cut it out!" She screeched, her tail puffing up in agitation. The sarane spun around, having overshot Fiera by a couple feet. His eyes were wide with excitement as she marched up to him. "You silly lizard, you!" She said, grabbing him gently by the horns. He grunted playfully as she gently shook his head around a couple times and pressed his snout against Fiera's stomach.

They wrestled for a bit like that, with Fiera holding onto Algol's horns. She knew he wouldn't hurt her like this, and she DEFINITELY knew that she wasn't hurting him. It was just a good old fashioned tussle for the pair of them, one that Fiera was more than happy to participate in. Algol bucked more and more wildly until he finally managed to fling her off. Worry briefly passed through Fiera's mind as she saw the world spin around her, but thankfully she splashed harmlessly into the water. The first thing she did was sit up and called her sarane a jerk, but he merely strutted off to go lounge around under a tree. Fiera hissed at him, but considering that he was no longer listening, it soon devolved into giggles. Well, at least he seemed to have gotten that burst of energy out and hopefully wouldn't be bothering her again soon.

Which meant that Fiera could go back to fishing. She stood around with her net in hand, looking for anything good. Perhaps she could... oh wait! Fiera strode back to shore, realizing that she forgot to check on her last catch. Did she even end up nabbing the fish in the end? She cracked open the bucket and peered in. There was the clump of river weeds that she had grabbed, and sure enough there was a little silvery minnow weaving in and out of it. It didn't even seem that upset, as if it was just happy to still have its house. Fiera closed the lid again, satisfied. The was one more fish for the bucket. She didn't want to stop now though- she was on a roll fishing today! She didn't think she had ever had this much success on one of her trips. This place was proving more fertile than she thought.

Most other spots along the river yielded Fiera a decent amount of fish, but this spot had proven particularly fruitful. It didn't look like much on the surface, but Fiera was definitely enjoying herself. Algol was too, based on the fact that he was catching a ton of fish even though he didn't strictly know how to fish. All he had to do practically was just stick his head in the water and there was a good chance he would come up with something fresh and wiggly. Even now she could see him crunching on something. Fiera was hoping that eating so many wild animals wouldn't make him sick, but if he did she would cross that bridge when they came to it. After all, all sarane had to go through a health check before they entered the tournament, so she would be able to make sure he was healthy then.

For now though, she had her own fish to worry about. To her left, Fiera noticed a patch of water that was a bit deeper than the rest of this shallow area, but only by a foot or so. It wasn't much to look at- just a darker patch in comparison to the rest of the flat- but now it was drawing Fiera's attention. Specifically, there was a splashing coming from it that Fiera really wanted to check out. She stalked toward it carefully, trying to disturb the water as little as possible, her eyes narrowing to slits. Sure enough, a dark shape was visible in the water up ahead, though it was too stirred up and muddy to get an idea of what it was specifically. That didn't matter though- Fiera would catch it regardless. And put it in a bucket. And sell it to a weird quiet man in a cloak.

Letting out a warrior battlecry (that sounded a lot like a feline screech), Fiera dashed forward with her net, flinging it at the fish. She quickly realized... that this fish was way too big for the net. It fit in it sure, but barely, and it was nearly wrenched out of Fiera's hands with how strong this creature was. She yowled with effort, but Algol couldn't be bothered to get out of the patch of sunlight he was basking in. Useless lizard. Fiera hissedand dragged the net back, trying to at least keep the fish from escaping it. That made it thrash harder, but it hadn't gotten away yet. Fiera did her best to keep at it, slowly backing up toward the shoreline. If she could just get to land, she could try beaching it to catch it instead of trying to fight the fish in its own natural environment.
