It was a nice change of scenery, the running water. The makeshift sand that was sometimes just small rock and algae. He liked the smell - it wasn't mildewy like one would think, but actually fresh and lively. The sounds of the birds in the trees and the bugs hovering above the water...all of it together was soothing. At this hour the sun didn't reflect on the water too brightly in their eyes, but it was warm enough to not be bothered by the mild breeze. Summer was a good time to be here, it seemed. They needed the time out of the city.
"What's wrong...?" he asked the creature, finally. Such a moody fellow, it was almost impossible to tell when he was upset if you didn't know his mannerisms the way a friend did. Adam was a friend, although he was still learning to open up to him.

At this point she didn't question when he gave her that look and asked to go on an adventure. Before, she could be picky and she had a say. 'I don't like the mines.' was a common excuse to stay home and nap....but then that became all too common. It was as if best friends were starting to go their own separate ways. So now when she noticed his restlessness she'd stay close so she could be the one he asked to go out. And so she was back to begging for affection from someone she'd become all to comfortable taking for granted.
He knew she didn't like the mines, but that was where he'd wanted to go today. As a mage, he would always need more magical crystals....but she had been almost clingy for a few weeks now. He couldn't just ask someone else to come with him while he left her behind - and he had a feeling she would go anyway....even though he knows she hates that dark and dirty place.
So he changed his plans, and here they were.
