Okay, so Adam will be using Ariel here as a mount for both land and air. In this case, does he have to be trained as a land mount before he can be trained as a flying mount...? And if so, would that be 2SP for the land part and then another 2SP for the flying part? Or does Adam need to find some other land mount to train and then trash as a technicality just so he can use Ariel? Or does exotic mean a specific set? I couldn't find the 'mount list' mentioned.

Here is the mount list. This is not an 'official' answer, just my understanding of the system. You have to have a riding skill for a land based mount before you can take a riding skill for a flying mount. Ariel here counts as a 'flying mount' even though she can also run on the ground, just like a Gallor. So you only have to take the skill for her once. Therefore your character would have to have the skill Riding (the basic one) before you can take Ride Exotic Mount (for Ariel's species). You do not have to actually train a mount from scratch, however. You just have to have the ability to ride one, by having the appropriate riding skill.

Ahhh, that would make sense. Thanks for the link. I’ll wait for an official ruling just to make sure. ;)

Hi Riku! Yep, Silver is right on the money here. You have to have at least one land riding skill first (As there are different types, which is why Exotic Mount's description says "at least one"- it's not referring to knowing how to ride one specific pet, it's referring to knowing one land riding skill.) So yes, as Silver said you'd need to have the basic riding skill before you can take Ride Exotic Mount for Ariel. :3
