She did come around... slowly but surely. Sevyrn's bet was that she just really didn't like being pushed on, not even lightly - she was going to need to work on that at some point. She needed to be able to manipulate the mosca's body without fuss, even if just for nail trims - especially to train Rachet actions that required a little bit of bodily manipulation. That also probably would have made her life easier if she'd started sooner rather than later... but hindsight was 20/20.
Eventually Sevyrn was able to stop pressing down ever so lightly on Rachet's bum to get her to sit - it was good progress. She would keep treats in play for now, especially when she was having to repeat herself once in a while, but they were getting closer and closer to ready. At least next time she wouldn't have to train this while in an off state...

Sevyrn didn't take the treat reward away until after she hadn't needed to repeat herself for a few rounds, at which point Sevyrn felt like they were both ready to move in to the next step. Rachet seemed wronged the first time that she didn't get a reward, but Sevyrn made a point to give her one on the second go. After that she held out until the third 'sit', and then the fourth. Rather than going for a solid five in a row before a treat after that, Sevyrn pushed it off as long as she could. Things were going well... about as well as they could, considering that Rachet was a very excitable young one.
"Okay, one last go - sit," Sevyrn said as the kitten stood before her, watching Sevyrn after a quick play session. The mosca lowered her bum to the ground like she was supposed to, and leaned in to lick Sev's arm. Proud of the mosca for a job well done, she got some love and a treat as a reward.

Sevyrn was long since ready to get back on her feet, but she'd ignored her own needs while focusing on working with Rachet. That was alright... she still had water and some food in her backpack. Rat might not have needed anything to eat after all the treats that she'd just received, but she likely could use a drink. After pulling her backpack off of her shoulders she started to dig through it to find the little water bowl she had in there just for situations like this. Once it was on the ground she pulled out her water bottle, and poured part of it in to the bowl - she hadn't even finished before Rachet had her face dipped in for a drink... it seemed that she had waited a little too long to offer Rat a drink.
"I'm sorry for that girl," she said to the Mosca before downing a few gulps herself.

While Rachet sated her thirst, Sevyrn put the bottle back in to her bag and pulled out some trail mix to snack on for now. After she was done with that and Rat was done with the water - she drank every drop - Sevyrn put everything away, and then she decided it was good time for a short little cuddle before they got back to navigating through the endless pathways of the corn maze. Rachet loved the attention - she'd always loved getting affection... and play. She just loved interaction with her person in general. Sevyrn was glad she'd brought home such a friendly little one, as at first she'd been worried that Rachet would be a meaner mosca than she ended up being. Really... that was a fear that she had when it came to any of the creatures she called her own. Once ready to move on, it was time to finally get back to her feet.

Once to her feet Sevyrn picked her bag up off the ground and tossed it over one shoulder, letting the other side dangle free - Rat saw the one strap dangling from Sev's back and leapt for it, thinking that it would make a really good toy. It only took one leap - and one set of Mosca claws in the back of her leg - before Sevyrn reached behind her and pulled the other strap away from kitten reach and over her other shoulder. She... generally did not like to carry her bag on both shoulders, so it was rather uncomfortable like this.
"Off we go!" Sevyrn then said to Rachet, who looked like she'd just been slapped only because she'd lost her toy. "Follow me, Rat," Sevyrn said before glancing back and forth - which way had she been going before getting disoriented? It seemed that she was going to have to pick a path and hope for the best.

More little baubles - they hid down one of the pathways, tucked along the edge of a row of corn at a dead end. Sevyrn scooped those up.
She... did not want to be in this corn maze any more, and she wished that she had stuck around the banquet hall or the pumpkin patch. The woman crouched down, trying to be as close to eye to eye with her mosca as she could get. "Hey Rat - you know how to get us out of here?" She asked the kitten hopefully, but the only response that she got was a few playful meows. It seemed that she was going to be figuring this out on her own... Maybe she should have brought along a large skein of yarn to trail behind her, marking the path back to safety. At least then she wouldn't have been in the pinch that she was now.

She was on her own as she figured out the pathway back, deathly afraid that she was making wrong turns and just getting herself more lost within the corn-lined paths. What if she just... figured out what general direction she had come from initially and pushed through the corn? Sevyrn couldn't imagine that the sea of corn was just endless, regardless of what direction she went she should be able to break out at some point.... right? (She had to remember that this was the mansion that she was dealing with - she couldn't trust it to play nice with her.)
"Come on Rat, follow me," Sevyrn said to the mosca, pulling the kit's attention towards herself as she began to walk back down the path that they had come from. She was pretty sure that she had come from the left at the start of the path? Hoping that she was right, Sev turned down the path she thought was right.

She was really, really tempted to just break out of the corn field... good luck keeping an eye on her mosca if she actually dared to do that, however. Luckily Sevyrn was able to eventually navigate her way back out, having never found the center of that seemingly endless maze. Sweet relief hit her as she finally saw the exit, and with a happy pet of her little one, she sped up just so that she could finally see the world around her. Sevyrn wasn't known for being claustrophobic, but one could only spend so much time surrounded on all sides before enough was enough...
Once in the open field that spanned her entire field of vision from side to side, she saw the door - the mansion better not be playing tricks on her, it had to be the one that lead back in to the banquet hall. Perhaps she should stop for a snack.

Sevyrn couldn't lie, she was afraid that the door she knew she had already walked through would play tricks on her and refuse to bring her back to where she wanted to be. Please be a banquet hall on the other side of that door, she bargained as she approached it with welling anxiety deep in her chest. She just wanted to be somewhere familiar... comfortable. She wanted to drink up some of the cider waiting in goblets, mow down a bunch of grapes, eat some bread - it was time to truly relax after a long day.
Despite the fact that she had been wary of the abandoned feast earlier on, spending so much time lost among the endless sea of corn had made it a welcome sight as she pushed the wooden door open and saw the familiar filled tables and empty chairs contained beyond it. Sevyrn ushered Rachet in to the room.

She fell in to the nearest chair dramatically, uncaring given the lack of an audience - her bum hit the base of the chair with a thud, her shoulders spread to rest her arms atop the back of the chair. Any other time this wouldn't have been one of the comfiest chairs in the world but after such a long journey on her feet, it was like sitting on a cloud - sweet relief for sore feet, achey bones and overall tiredness. Rachet jumped up on to Sevyrn's lap and the woman pulled one arm free from the top of the chair to rest it on the mosca's back, gently pulsing her fingers in and out in the young one's soft fur. It seemed that Rachet was well in need of a little rest, as well.
"We made it back!" Sevyrn said to the mosca, and Rachet looked up to see what the girl wanted. "We did good," the woman affirmed.

Maybe it would be time to head out soon.... Sevyrn could always come back again - and she had two more creatures in need of some bonding time that she could visit this place with. She had gone down to the APAA not too long about and picked out some of the younger residents there - another ghaenelt, giving Bez and Brin a buddy, and a young wild equillion. Sevyrn had a fondness for younger creatures, and especially those two species. One of them could be her buddy during her next visit, she figured. It had been nice bringing Rat along for her second trip in to the unknown, but Sev had already developed a habit of switching it out each time. Surely one day the kitten would be coming back here, wandering the halls of a different month's illusion, a whole new bout of sights to see that would be just as new to Sev as it was to her.

Sleepiness was setting in - the corn maze had been a long adventure that ended up getting nowhere, harder to escape from than to get lost in in the first place. They had earned a break, the right to sit there right in that chair and laze about for a few minutes. Sevyrn would likely stop in to the pumpkin patch for a few minutes to make sure that she hadn't left anything behind, but it was highly unlikely that they would be here for much longer. Rat seemed to be able to tell that Sevyrn was getting tired and ready to go home, because the young mosca curled up real nice and then stretched a leg out, getting as comfortable as possible. What a sweet little thing - Sev was so happy that she had taken the time to anti grow her so that they could bond in the the way that Rachet deserved.

There was cider on the table! Sevyrn reached towards a filled goblet and brought it to her lips, sipping at the sweet cider. It struck her with an idea - maybe after she got back home she could check out the apple tree in her front yard and see if its fruits were ready. If they were she could try making her own cider - or worst case make some DIY apple juice that would likely be just as delicious. Sev greatly preferred to handle her own livelihood like that - it was part of why she'd put so much effort in to her garden. She loved to feast off the bounties of her own hard work, and her critters seemed to enjoy her hand-picked berries, fruits and vegetables more than they had the store-bought variety anyways. The only problem there was meat... critters like Rachet were meat eaters.
