There were oddities scattered about - the leaflets of root crops, dead and dried leaves that had fallen from unseen trees, the odd small gourd that was infinitely smaller than the ones that the pair had seen on the outside of the other door. Little baby pumpkins... she really liked the idea of putting some on the front porch of her home, so Sevyrn stopped to pick one here and there when they looked rather healthy and like they might last a little while before rotting and getting put in to her compost pile.
The strangest oddity that she came across yet was hidden within the stalks - a rake? In the middle of a corn maze? It was no little statue or a scarecrow puppet holding a flute, but it was rather odd. Perhaps it had been used in the making of this maze? Sevyrn had a feeling that the paths they walked were not hand-made though.

She'd reached for it but didn't take it - she had no room in her backpack for a full-sized rake, especially not with that little statue weighing het back down already and that fragile little scarecrow looking like it could be broken with the wrong touch. Provided that she ever found her way to the middle or end and then came back, she would likely stop to pick it up on the way out. She did need a new rake back home, after all. Was it even okay for her to be taking anything from here? Was there a magical presence that would be disgruntled about her picking apart its gorgeous displays and eclectic scenery? She just wanted trinkets! Something to bring home and show off.
"It's up to you now, Rat," Sevyrn said to her mosca as they reached a fork in the paths. They could go straight or turn left. After cocking her head up at her girl, the mosca turned left.

Sevyrn followed behind closely as the mosca picked her path and began to guide them deeper in to the abyss of endless corn. She couldn't lie... she was starting to feel like she was wandering in circles - that likely had to do with the fact that there wasn't really anything about her surroundings that stood out to her. The only thing that could prove it would likely be that rake, and that was something Sev and Rachet had only seen the once... so far.
After a few more minutes she stopped to take a break, calling Rat over to her as she lowered herself to the ground. Once settled she pulled her backpack around her body to pull out a travel-sized water bowl and a bottle of water. She wanted some for herself, so it was only right that she offered Rat something to drink as well.
"Have a drink," she said after pouring a bit in to the bowl. Once she'd done that, she gulped down a decent part of the water bottle.

Those strange scarecrow things... they irked Sevyrn, who found them to be rather off-putting to come across. The first one had been holding a flute in its hands - of course it seemed uncanny. She was surprised to come across a second one, though - this one's wooden body made of something different, a darker kind of wood, and the clothing wrapped around it greenish hues rather than brown. At least she might be able to make a puppet collection out of these? She was going to have a bit of a flute collection too it seemed, given that she'd already picked up a couple of those... they could be buddies, both perched on her coffee table with a flute in hand.
That was... unless Rachet tore it to pieces first. Sev didn't even have a chance to lean down and pick the thing up before the kitten was leaping towards it, thinking it would make a great toy.

"Rat, no!" Sevyrn called out, sweeping in to grab the creepy little scarecrow puppet before the mosca could do any real damage to it. As much as she wasn't incredibly fond of the creepy little thing, she didn't want it to get ruined - like everything else here, it was a memento of her trip, after all. Rachet didn't seem to like that her toy had been taken and meowed at Sevyrn rather indignantly, almost like she was demanding it back.
"I'm not giving you it back," she said to the kitten, whose demeanor changed not a drop. With a sigh she reached in to her backpack and pulled out a more kitten appropriate toy for the mosca to play with. It was as she leaned down to put the toy on the ground that she noticed another of those pretty asters that she had seen earlier - and three more little snake-eyes tucked beneath it.

What a pretty and playful little kitty - Rachet was such an interesting little character, always so happy and playful. Sure that became a problem when she wanted to get in to things or she thought that Sevyrn's ankle made for a good chew toy... But generally she was pretty well behaved, and Sevyrn couldn't expect perfection. If she wasn't capable of being perfect, then neither was anyone or anything else. (That was a great mantra and all, but Sevyrn often failed to put that in to perspective when dealing with other actual people.)
"Alright come on," Sevyrn said after she'd had enough of sitting around, anxious to delve further in to the mysteries of the mansion. She scooped up the cat toy and put it back in her bag, urging Rachet to get a move on. There were more things waiting for them than just a few strange little scarecrows and the odd pretty flower!

Eventually the kitten did seem ready to get her butt in gear, and then it was time to head off! Deeper and deeper in to the maze... what would await them? Sevyrn found herself both nervous and excited, as the possibilities were seemingly endless with this place. It was actually surprising that so little had gone on after this long, given how much she'd seen during her short last visit. Last time she had been here, it had been rather overwhelming for a first trip. The mansion was... calmer this month, it seemed. Maybe it enjoyed the peace of autumn just like she did, and wished for it to be a bountiful time rather than chaotic. Whatever it was, Sevyrn wasn't about to argue with it.
And hey - she still hadn't gotten lost yet, or so it seemed. She still had only seen that random rake once, but that didn't mean she hadn't caught herself in a loop farther on.

... How long would it take to reach the end? Sevyrn was starting to find herself frustrated with the seemingly endless waves of corn after even more journeying - and she couldn't even find a way to see if she was getting close. There had to be more to offer, more sights for her to see - and Sevyrn ached desperately to be able to see everything. How was she supposed to when she felt like she was wandering in circles amongst a sea of crops?
"Where are we, Rat?" Sevyrn asked the mosca, bargaining with her for an answer. The kitten would not be able to offer her any respite, however. "Are we getting close? Do you know? I know that you can get us out of her, sweets." There she was... bargaining with a mosca kit. At this point she didn't even know how to turn around.... They'd taken so many twists and turns that the path back seemed unacheivable.

The scent of alcohol is strong, wafting towards you through the air. Is that cider...? Full of apple aroma that goes straight to your head. Without touching a drop, the world around you starts to spin. Oh dear. You feel the need to steady yourself, or sit down, before you can continue on your adventure.

The strong smell of cider came on unexpectantly, a trick of the mansion designed to leave her confused - in a way it was similar to something that had happened during her last trip. As the world began to spin around her Sevyrn became intensely afraid; during her previous trip she had ended up losing Brin for a short period of time due to being randomly disoriented. She fell to the ground unable to see what was going on around her, and as her head spun she desperately tried to scan the area around her - nothing. Oh no... it was happening again. Panic set in and she tried to clamber to her feet only to fail, and her hands hit the ground to steady her body before her face hit the ground instead. Where had the kitten gone? Was she still there? Had she continued to move, unaware that Sevyrn could not follow her?

There she was - Sevyrn couldn't be positive but she swore she caught sight of a small beige body just a few feet away. She closed her eyes hard, forced herself to blink rapidly - yes, that was Rachet. She was right there, everything was okay. She was struggling to right herself, though. It was almost like the smell of the cider on its own was enough to induce intoxication and leave her stumbling and struggling... what a strange event. She wasn't surprised when the mansion could manipulate the world around her, but it struck her as rather unnerving that it could affect her own mental state in such a similar way. Did it have control over her, too? She knew its lure, the way it could seduce people in to wanting to stay... but that had been mind control on a whole different level than she had ever experienced here before.

"Come here Rat," Sevyrn said to the kitten as she forced herself to straighten her back and sit up - the kitten came to her side with a series of concerned meows escaping her mouth. The kitten's soft fur rubbing against the bare skin of her arm was enough to ground Sevyrn just a little bit, bring her back in to the world around her - slowly but surely she gained her footing again, started to feel more like she was back on this plane... More like she was sober, a state that she had never left in the first place. She kept the kitten close, especially now that she knew Rat's existence so close to her was enough to help draw her back in to reality. What a good little kitty.
The kitten wanted to run off, though - much too soon. Sevyrn wasn't ready to get back to her feet. "Sit down," she said to the kitten, though Rachet didn't understand that request just yet.

"No, come here," Sevyrn said to the kitten, who looked towards her owner with curiosity before hopping back towards where Sevyrn still sit, Though with each moment she was getting closer and closer to being able to get up, she still wasn't quite there. "Sit down," the woman said to the kitten as the pair met once again, gently pushing against Rachet's hind end. The gentle pressure seemed to confuse the mosca, but Sevyrn repeated the call and applied just a little bit more pressure - Rachet's hind end hit the ground. "What a good girl," Sevyrn said, still breathy and a little bit dizzy. With a wide grin on her face she dug through her pocket in slow movements, pulling out a little treat to offer Rat. There might be no worse time to have to teach something than in the moment it was needed, but late was better than never. They could focus on this for a while, especially because it meant that Sevyrn was not going to need to get up.

With time Sevyrn started to feel a bit better, enough that her head stopped spinning and she felt more in-tune with reality than detached from it. In the same period of time, Sevyrn was able to slowly and maybe a little awkwardly work with Rachet. The kitten either didn't want to sit her bum down, didn't like having her rear end touched, or was confused by Sevyrn's off state, because she wasn't grasping it as easily as expected. That was okay... they had time to work on it, it didn't have to be perfected this very moment.
Raise a treat just above Rachet's head height, gently push on her rear end, ask her to sit - it was an easy process that she repeated over and over and over again for a little while more. Now that she was feeling more with it, Sev was able to put more focus on it.
