Now, what to name the little thing? For all this time it had been under his ownership, he hadn't given much thought toward naming it. Something short and sweet would suit it well. He'd been at a loss for names as of late. The leopard sighed and twisted a mealworm between his fingers, taunting the mussimander in the process. He watched as it tried (and failed) to lurch itself forward and snap up the thoroughly animate mealworm, bonking its snout into the man's claws more than once. An amused chuckle escaped Xentus. He allowed the creature its snack, which it munched on noisily. Once its snack was swallowed down, its glassy green eyes peered up at the man, pleading for more. A hum sounded from the man as he considered spoiling it some more.. Then he procured another writhing mealworm from a little metal tin. The little lizard perked up happily, pouncing at the man's claws for its treat.

"Silias", the leopard muttered quietly, deciding suddenly on a name as he watched the lizard crunch down on the writhing worm. Because it was silly-as could be. A smirk formed on the mans muzzle, oddly satisfied with himself for coming up with the name. While it sounded a little more staunch and almost regal when he said it aloud, thinking it as a contraction of 'silly-as' made him chuckle. After scarfing down its worm, the lizard looked up at the man again, an expectant look in its eyes. If it wanted a meal, he could make it work for it now.
"Silias", the leopard repeated before giving the creature another mealworm. It didn't seem to care much for whatever the man said, more preoccupied with feasting on the offered treat. The association would slowly grow, with enough patience. "Good Silias. This one hopes you'll have room for more", Xentus praised with a chuckle.

The mussimander wrestled with the mealworm for a minute, thrashing its head to kill the squirming beast in its jaws. And with a couple of sound crunches, the larva was devoured. Once again, the creature's green eyes peered up at the man, begging for more. Its mouth was already partly open in anticipation for the next worm to munch on.
"Silias", the man said again, then offered the lizard another mealworm. It was quickly snapped at, though the lizard's poor aim left it gnawing on a couple of fingertips as well. Thankfully, the little teeth didn't hurt much, feeling like pricking upon his skin. Xentus withdrew his hand with the worm firmly grasped, a frown curling his lip.
"Such poor manners, Silias. Try that again", he stated firmly then wiggled the writhing mealworm between his fingers, "Silias." The mussimander seemed a little frustrated to not be munching that very moment, but was more than willing to try again. With an unnecessary hop, it lunged for its snack.

Is any of this stuff even edible?

This time, its aim was a little better, nipping at the butt end of the larva. The mussimander wrestled with the man's fingers for a moment in an attempt to pry its snack free from their clutches. And after a moment of teasing, the fingers relented and allowed the lizard its snack. "Ahh, good boy, Silias", the leopard chimed, amused at watching the creature eat. Now that he had its attention, he could work away from the treats. He waited for the mussimander to finish snapping down its food - which took entirely too long considering the amount of 'killing' the larva required.
"Silias", the man called to the little lizard with the click of his tongue, "Hey, Silias." It took a moment for the mussimander to acknowledge the leopard. It was busily rubbing the edges of its mouth against the ground, wiping away any sticky guts that happened to be smeared on it.

When it was done cleaning its face, it looked up toward the mammalian in search of another snack. Those bright green eyes scanned hard, but failed to find a new target to chomp. The act was close enough to deserve praise, the leopard decided, and so wiggled another squirming mealworm before the creature.
"That's it, good boy Silias", Xentus cooed, "Hungry one, aren't you, Silias?" The mussimander tilted it head curiously at the man's voice, larva hanging out the side of its mouth. A gentle word of praise was given, but its mealworm treat was withheld until it finished the one it already had. He didn't encourage greediness. While the lizard seemed mildly disappointed at not having two worms at once, it was plenty satisfied with the one it had. It made certain to beat the writhing larva to death and beyond before gulping it down.
"Was it good, Silias? This one sure hopes so", the leopard chuckled, happy to see the mussimander enjoying its treats.

Unfortunately for the mussimander, it was getting rather full at this point.. While it could likely eat a few more bites, Xentus knew better than to attempt to overfeed it. The container of mealworms were stowed away for later.
"That is enough for now. Good job, Silias", the leopard told the little creature, "Though this one apologizes, dear Silias. You have been a good boy, yes. Good Silias." The mussimander looked up at the man, scrabbling a little closer in pursuit of the treat container. It bobbed its head, sizing up the foot in front of it. The act only made Xentus chuckle, reaching down to poke at the small beast. He could see that its sides were visibly more pudgy than before. It was.. Kind of cute, he had to admit.
"Ah, behave now, Silias. More treats will be had later." Getting acquainted with the small lizard was a different experience than the typical giant beasts he favored. But Silias was proving to make for an interesting companion, if only because it was fun to watch.

Now that he felt good about calling the lizard in some sort of fashion, it was time for some chores. Probably, anyway. He didn't really want to do any work today.. Loitering about the overgrown weeds playing with a glowing mushroom-lizard sounded like a much more fun prospect. Or if he really wanted to feel like he was 'working', perhaps some local foraging would suffice. While making produce wasn't at the forefront of his mind when tending the garden plot, it did bring in a little bit of extra credits.. The leopard weighed his options while mindlessly dangling his fingers before the mussimander's face. While a cat might playfully bat at them, or a dog might lick, the lizard only saw a snack. Thankfully, those tasty digits were just a little too high for the lizard to hop up and nip. But that didn't stop it from trying. With a scramble and a hop, Silias flung his body at the leopard.

And landed fantastically with a flop.
"Oh, you silly thing..", the man cooed, snapping out of his deep thought and now looking down at the scrabbling creature. Its little legs flailed in the air for what felt like a comically long time before it righted itself. What manner of productive could he be with this thing keeping him company? The little mussimander was just too entertaining. And likely to get into trouble if he let his eyes off it for a misplaced moment. Ah, he wasn't sure whether to sigh or chuckle. At the very least, a smile curled his lip up.
"Let us wander about the perimeter, Silias. For no reason other than to expend some of that energy of yours", the mammalian told it, scooping it up to hasten their travel. Silias had little protest about this, but did still squirm if only to be difficult. It would've much rather lay on his arm! Or head.
> End, Silias (10)

Gardening Venture #5> Xentus, accompanied by... Oh, now wasn't she big baby? Quite literally. The dragon, born in a clutch of triplets, just seemed to grow. And grow. And keep growing. By the time it was only a week old, it righteously outsized its siblings. Once the whelp was released into his care, it had already dwarfed its mother. It seemed her father's gigantism had passed on - much to the leopard's delight. He had a grand dragon on his hands! With time, of course. The young one was still very new to the world, full of curiosity and energy. The little wingbuds on its back had yet to unfurl and reveal their nature, leaving some speculation for the leopard. Would the little one grow oaken wings or monstera ones? "Tetria", the mammalian cooed, hoping to catch the whelp's attention. It was busily nipping at the weeds in his overgrown flowerbed, singeing them with tiny embers flicking from its jaws.

The young one was already exploring its innate powers. Thinking about it, wasn't it odd to see a plant-creature imbued with the power of fire? Even the fluttering variety of dragon-oaks could sheathe their jaws with flames. He supposed dragons stereotypically breathed fire.. The leopard chuckled at this supposed enigma. It did make the plant-dragons very good defenders of the garden. But at the same time, if they decided to go on a rampage, it would be bad news for the very gardens they were designated to protect. Especially if the dragon was giant-sized. It would be wise to establish a good bond with the whelp before it grew too large to manage. "Hey, Tetria", Xentus spoke up a little louder this time, "Tetria!" The young dragon unsteadily shuffled around to take a look at the noisy man. Its large blue eyes blinked at him while its jaws were chewing on a scorched leafy stem.

"That's it, good Tetria", the leopard praised, smiling at the plant creature. He held his hand out, offering a blueberry as a treat. Given that they had mouths, the dragon-oak probably ate something, right? Or did they only root and photosynthesize..? He'd always left his pair of dragons to their own devices so he'd never really observed their feeding habits. Bugs were probably on the menu for the small ones. Would the large ones eat meat? Unfortunately, he only had whatever the garden had to offer at the moment, so there wasn't much material to test with. Thankfully, Tetria seemed interested enough in the blueberry, dropping the now-withered (and thoroughly chewed) weed in favor of the treat. The young dragon was still extremely wobbly on its feet, stumbling and tripping over its own toes as it waddled over to the leopard. "Top heavy, aren't ya, Tetria?", Xentus chuckled as he watched its struggle.

Once the whelp reached him, he held it steady as it nipped his hand for the berry. Embers included. "Atch! Tetria! Come now, you need not to cook the hand that feeds", the man gently scolded, pulling his hand away, "This one will need to get you to control those flames of yours, Tetria." He couldn't be mad at the young dragon, but it was going to be a little troublesome if it was going to try scorching everything it wanted to gnaw on. Perhaps a toy would keep it entertained enough to not begin teething on his more prized plants.. A mental note was made. But in the meantime, he'd try to tame its teething by some other means. "Tetria", the leopard cooed at the creature again, getting it to look at him curiously. Those big eyes were already looking for more snacks. "Excellent. Good Tetria", he praised, carefully offering the dragon another berry.

The treat was placed on the ground this time. He wasn't looking to go home with burn marks or scorched fur. The thick pads on his hands were only good at protecting him from so much heat or cold, and the embers from the whelp were pushing it. Whether hand fed or not, the young dragon seemed to care little as long as it got its treat. Xentus pet the top of its head, rubbing over the little horn nubs. It felt like oddly smooth woody bark. Tetria leaned into his touch while chomping her treat, tail waving slowly with delight. "Ah, you're so cute, Tetria", Xentus cooed, "Good Tetria, very good." While he couldn't wait to see how big the little dragon got, he truly did enjoy the whelp at this small-ish size. Clumsy and unsteady, and so very charming to watch. It peeked up at him for a moment, then something seemed to catch the creature's eye.
