Another month meant another season for lotine to go in to bloom - and Sevyrn had been expecting to wait patiently for one of her lotine to be ready. She had hoped that it would be Lailah, she was only allowed to bring one down here per month, but had it been Ophelia... well, she wouldn't have refused - her lola were still gorgeous even if they had been rather plain last time, and it wasn't like she had ever brought Ophelia down with one of those special fish that she had bought after coming to care for Lailah. It would have been interesting to see what kind of effect the fish would have given that Sevyrn had base-level lola to compare Ophelia's second brood to.
As she sat idly in her garden, working on schematics for the greenhouse that she was looking to build, she came to realize that her waiting game was over already - Lailah was showing signs that she was ready to head down.

Sevyrn folded the plans up and ran them inside before heading back out to the garden, at which point she made her way towards the lotine in question. Lailah was simply basking in what was left of the sun, trying to soak up heat despite the cool autumn breeze around them. The woman knelt down close to her, and the lotine looked at Sevyrn in return. Generally the pair left each other alone - Lailah enjoyed her peace and quiet, and oftentimes would recluse if Sevyrn wandered too close at the wrong moment. Today didn't seem to be one of those days - perhaps that was a good thing, a sign that Sevyrn was making the right call to bring Lailah down to the breeding center. Perhaps it was a sign that the lotine was ready to head out, even?
"What do you think, Lailah?" Sevyrn asked the lotine, holding a hand out for her to sniff. "Are you ready to produce some lola? I can bring you down to the breeding center."

Lailah did not like the trip down to the breeding center - or, more accurately, she did not like bring lugged in to Sevyrn's cart and being stuck in it while riding over rocky roads all the way down to it. The breeding center itself wasn't so bad, although it was rather unfamiliar and as such not where the lady would want to be. Lailah sniffed at Sevyrn's hand before snubbing it, and the woman used that as an opportunity to check out the blooming flower atop the lotine's head - yeah, she'd seen that a couple times now. Unfortunately for Lailah, it was time to head on down.
She wasn't going to like this, that much Sevyrn knew, but the woman pulled her cart in to the garden and dragged it back towards the pond where Lailah waited. The lotine seemed to want to run off - Sevyrn did not expect her to climb back in that, did she?"

Sevyrn unlatched the back from the cart, allowing it to drop to the ground and turn in to a ramp for the lotine to climb up - now the hard part was going to be coaxing her in to the cart. Last time the possibility of a snack had been enough to urge the lotine up, so Sevyrn left Lailah to check out the cart and get a bit more comfortable with it while she ran inside to grab one of those special fish. Once she had it in hand she held it above the open body of the cart, and Lailah was intrigued by it. Her hesitance was obvious as she inched forwards towards the little ramp and then shied away.
"It's okay, sweetie," Sevyrn tried to soothe the creature. "Once you're in here, the hard part is done. You'll be back home in no time, just like our last trip." Sevyrn then dropped the fish at the far end of the cart.

Lailah did not give up on her reluctance, yet she did make her way up the little ramp and on to the cart. As soon as she could she snapped up that rainbow colored fish and mowed it down, then looked to Sevyrn with what seemed to be contentness on her face. It seemed that Lailah really enjoyed those fish... they were made for the species, so that wasn't really a surprise. As the lotine let out a yawn and stretched out Sevurn pulled the back of the cart back up and latched it securely - the last thing that she wanted was for the gate to fall down along the bumpy roads and for Lailah to fall out, after all.
"We will be back home in no time, sweetie," Sevyrn promised the lotine as she began to pull the cart towards the gate of her garden. At that point Lailah seemed to realize that she had fallen for a trick.

Yeah... this was the part that Lailah hated - bump after bump after bump, every little stone that got caught beneath the wooden wheels of the cart jolting the lotine just that little bit that with time it worked her up to a degree... How had she fallen for this a second time? It was the same trick thad had been pulled on her the first trip!
Sevyrn didn't want to have a grumpy lotine but what other choice did she have? It wasn't like Lailah was going to walk happily at her side, and even if the lotine would follow her like that it would have taken forever to get down to the breeding center - while graceful in water, lotine tended to be a lot more clunky on land. It wasn't her fault or anything, she wasn't being punished, but making the trip in the cart was easier for everyone involved.

It wasn't long before the pair pulled up to the front of the breeding center and hey - maybe the trip wasn't quite so terrible first time, because Lailah found her second journey to be just a little bit more tolerable. That didn't mean that she wanted to be lugged out here like this, but at least it was over... until it was time to go home. Sevyrn lowered the gate on the back of the cart to allow the lotine to climb out and in that moment Lailah lacked the kind of grace that ine typically expected from a lotine. It was okay... this time her blunder could be forgiven.
Sevyrn made her way slowly towards the breeding center's front door, and then held it open to allow the lotine entrance. Only once Lailah was inside did Sev follow, and then she walked up to the counter to get the paperwork filled out.

Once all was said and done Sevyrn took a seat to wait for the attendent to let her know that there was a room available for them - it seemed to be a somewhat busy day as they were going to have to wait a few minutes, but they were still the only pair in the waiting room - it wouldn't be too long before they could go on.
"You handled the trip here great, Lailah," Sevyrn said to the lotine, praising her for handling their second journey a little better than she had the first. The lotine still seemed rather disgruntled with the woman, though, and was more content nosing at potted ferns than even looking towards Sevyrn.
"Don't worry - we will be back home soon." They would be back home sooner if there had been a room available, but it was nothing worth being upset about. The lotine would be fine.

It was only a few more minutes before the attendent summoned them to follow her, and Sevyrn was happy to come along - the hard part was getting Lailah to move on, but she seemed to remember enough about her last trip that she knew hurrying along now would get her back home and in the pond sooner than if she put up a fuss. Sevyrn was rather thankful for that and encouraged her to keep moving all the way down to their room.
At that point the pair were left alone, and Sevyrn held the door open for her lotine. As soon as Lailah saw the pool at the back of the room she got her rush on, as best as a land bound lotine could rush, and she quickly found happiness when once again in the water.
Yeah, she was going to do just fine here - they'd be home in no time.

Now all they had to do was settle down and wait - Lailah would be ready to bloom in her own time and she was rather blissful in the pool, so Sevyrn settled in herself. She pulled her backpack off of her shoulders and sat down with her back to the wall near the pool. With her backpack beside her, away from the water rather than closer of course, she was as settled in as she needed to be.
"Take your time, Lailah - I'll be ready for your berry as soon as you are, no sooner." The breeding center was pretty much a second home to Sevyrn at this point, of course she was comfortable within its walls. Maybe one day Lailah wouldn't find the trip here to be so scary, too - it was only her second visit.
Really, Sevyrn was just happy that her creatures seemed to trust her enough to come here at all.
10 (Done) Lailah - 7/7
