In order to make a thread on one of the city's streets (Avant Vall, Missaa Ave, Centu St., or Calsten), you first need to obtain a permit!

There are two kinds of permits - private permits and public permits.

Private permits, colored blue, are places for players (and their creatures!) to live. They represent a space apart from your kennels where your character, their friends, and their creatures can live. You can describe this space however you like, within reason. Only people you invite may visit (post in) your thread. As a bonus, any pets who visit a permit that has space for them may be in that thread and another at the same time!

Public permits, colored green, are places for players to run businesses. There are three basic kinds of public permit: shops and services, zoos, and amenities. Shops and services sell goods or services and earn credits over time, zoos house many creatures for people to visit, and amenities do a mixture of both. As with private permits, any pets who visit a permit that has space for them may be in that thread and another at the same time!

* Though they are meant to be 'public', you may set the rules for your permit however you like, and you may choose whether or not you want to accept visitors. Though we recommend allowing people to visit freely, since it will be easier to meet your post requirements if you do!

Please do not post credit transfers for anything regarding permits! The person making the permit will post the transfer for you.

Private Permits

Private permits come in four varities: houses, farms, pools, and estates. See below for the types of properties and how they differ. Private permits may be upgraded at any time.

Houses
Houses are buildings built for people to live in. Whether it's a shack, a cottage, a treehouse, a mansion, or even a tent in the woods, there are many kinds of houses. Where do you want to live?

- Basic Houses cost 50c and have space for 1 creature and 1 person.
- Extra people spaces cost 15c each. Maximum of 20.
- Extra creature spaces cost 25c each. Maximum of 20.

Farms
Farms are large properties built for people to live with their pets. They often have a barn, stables, and other facilities to house large pets. Any property with a sufficiently large 'yard' for pets is considered a farm.

- Basic Farms cost 100c and have space for 3 creatures and 1 person.
- Extra people spaces cost 25c each. Maximum 10.
- Extra creature spaces cost 15c each. Maximum 30.

Pools
Pools are purpose built for aquatic or semi-aquatic pets to live in! People cannot live in pools, but they can visit as often as they want. Though it is called a 'pool', it could also be a natural body of water such as a river, pond, or even a wharf.

- Basic Pools cost 50c and have space for 3 creatures.
- Extra creature spaces cost 20c each. Maximum 30.

Estates
Estates are a combination of 3 or more permits. Estates combine all of the people and creature spaces in the old permits together into one! Be careful, because once you combine the permits, you cannot upgrade them again. You must purchase a new permit and add it to the estate in order to get more slots.

- Estates cannot be bought, they must be made by combining other permits.

Public Properties

To apply for a public property, you must explain your 'business plan' to the committee. This is mostly to make sure that you are getting the right type of property and that you have a solid idea to start your business.

Instead of paying for upgrades like private properties, public properties earn their upgrades by meeting certain posting requirements. A list of requirements can be found below.

Public Permit Application

Shops and Services
Shops and Services 'sell' something - either a physical thing, like goods or pets, or a service like a grooming parlor or restaurant. You may sell anything you normally sell in the Trading Post, or you can sell 'roleplay only' things to your customers. All of the usual trading rules apply.

- Shop and Service permits have a startup cost of 100 credits.
- Shops and Services earn credits for every month in which they have at least 10 new posts in their thread. The amount of credits earned is based on the current level.
- Shops and Services level up by reaching a certain number of posts, as listed below. These posts are cumulative from the beginning of the thread and do not need to be made in a certain time frame.

- The amount of credits you 'earn' represents what customers pay you, so you don't actually have to charge anyone for visiting!

Zoos
A zoo is a place where many animals live, and people come to see them. It could be a nature reserve, an aquarium, an aviary, etc. The owner of the zoo must own (or have permission to display) all pets that live there. Zoos do not earn a credit income, but they are the most efficient way to house a ton of animals!

- Zoo permits have a startup cost of 200 credits.
- Basic Zoos start with 20 creature spaces.
- Zoos are City only. Zoos are not available in the Caverns.
- Zoos level up by reaching a certain number of posts, as listed below. These posts are cumulative from the beginning of the thread and do not need to be made in a certain time frame.

Amenities
Amenities are places for people to gather or stay that are capable of earning an income as well. Parks, nurseries, guild halls, and boarding kennels are all examples of amenities. People and creatures may live there either temporarily or permanently. Amenities don't hold as many creatures as zoos or earn as much as shops and services, but they do a little bit of both. Cavern Amenities are the same, except that they house Draconics instead of people or creatures.

- Amenity applications cost 150c.
- Basic Amenities start with 10 spaces which may be used for creatures or people.
- Amenities earn credits for every month in which they have at least 10 new posts in their thread. The amount of credits earned is based on the current level.

Permit Icons

Every permit has a little icon next to the name to indicate what kind of property it is! For private properties, you will be given an icon that matches the kind of property it is, unless you apply for a unique one. For public properties, you may choose from the list of available icons, or commission a unique one.

Available icons: pool waves, farm, house, estate, castle, bird, fish, cat (sitting), dog (standing), rabbit, flower, leaf, mushroom, bubbles, tree, dollar sign, hairbrush, paintbrush, book, dumbbell, gear, sword, shield, paw, star, snowflake, sun, cloud, heart, cave, claw slashes, fang, scale

To change the icon on a public or private property to one on the list, fill out the following form. There will be a surcharge of 15 credits for each icon change. Private permits must always pay the surcharge to change icons, but public permits get their first icon for free.

To get a new icon added to the list, fill out the following form. There will be a surcharge of 25 credits for this service. This allows you to create an icon that will then be added to the public list of icons. Keep in mind that the icons are small, stylized, and entirely black. Not much detail can be added.

To get a new, custom icon exclusive to yourself, fill out the following form. There will be a surcharge of 50 credits for this service. This allows you to create an icon that will NOT added to the public list of icons. Only you can use it! Keep in mind that the icons are small, stylized, and entirely black. Not much detail can be added.
