Morgan hadn't seen Perdita prepare to produce a berry in so long, that when they went to feed the creatures that lived in their garden during the first part of spring they were absolutely shocked to see to see their lotine's bud beginning to wane towards closing. "P-perdita!? You are- oh no, it might be too late." Morgan murmured. Sometimes, this sort of thing just happened- the lola would most likely float away if Morgan had come here any later (perhaps, even a day later!). "Goodness, c'mere Perdita, we've got to go to the Breeding Center." Thank goodness that they had previously done this before. They did have a courier that they knew could work on short notices, so within the hour they stood outside of the Breeding Center, and the courier had brought Perdita as well. They hadn't had time to grab her any fresh fish or anything- since they'd hardly had time to work the spell that would allow them to be away from Kaodie. They didn't need anything causing the lotine any stress during this delicate time.

Morgan fussed a bit as they brought Perdita into the Breeding Center. They hated the fact that they'd missed out on the signs of her starting to come upon the time to produce a berry. They had just seen her the other day, hadn't they? She wasn't always out from her hiding spots whenever Morgan brought food to the gardens, especially since Perdita tended to catch food for herself. Morgan did make sure to check up on her, but Perdita was such a shy lotine that they were fearful of stressing her out by trying to find her (especially since she was not fond of the noise Morgan made as they clomped their boot-tread through the thick undergrowth near her favorite stream). "Goodness, I-I am sorry Perdita." Morgan murmured. Sure, Perdita only very rarely made Lola, but they still felt quite anxious about nearly losing this one. However, they got her in the door and went straight to the front desk looking a little bit more sheepish than normal.

Lotine were not capable of moving in a fashion quite as agile on land as they were in water, and it showed. The slightly stressed looking lotine moved with some difficulty across the floor, following Morgan more out of habit and fear of the not quite normal environment. Perhaps the lotine even remembered having been here before under similarly stressful circumstances. Morgan tilts their head anxiously as they work with as much speed as possible to fill out the required forms. Thankfully, they were sure that it would be quite quick to get the lotine into a suitable room for her. Lotine just weren't commonly bred- at least not nearly as often as something like Pachee were. That fact was most certainly welcome in situations like these, where the owners of said lotine were caught off guard by the production times of their Lotine. Perdita was often easily stressed, and that caused her to have a rather lopsided production time more often than not.

Morgan finishes the paperwork as quickly as they can, and once they are done they back up and hand over the stack so that they can be went through. About the same time they notice that they had smudged the writing- something not quite uncommon for left handed individuals such as theirself but it was something that they tried to avoid by waiting for the ink to get a little more towards dry than they had this time. They couldn't really wipe their hand off on anything, since the ink was dry from being wiped onto the flat side of their palm. They managed not to curse beneath their breath, since that would likely distract the person making sure that their paperwork was in order. After the individual was done (nodding at them to let them know, and then gesturing for them to sit down to wait for a room) Morgan went ahead to go sit down. "Come on Perdita." They murmur to her. Perdita takes a moment to get there even though it wasn't too far from where she was stood already, but she managed it.

The wait for a room to be cleaned didn't take long at all- just as Morgan had thought. They were thankful for this, though, since Perdita continued to look more and more uncomfortable as time went on. Morgan found lotine to have such expressive faces despite their rather regal looks, and Perdita rarely ever looked so anxious. She obviously wanted a very comfortable space to produce her lola- perhaps in the garden she would have curled up in a larger hollow log to do so. Here though, she would be provided with an excellent pseduo-'cave' to do so in, if she found that the room was not enclosed enough. Morgan was greeted by a rather polite but obviously judgmental Breeding Center worker that went to lead them to the correct room. Morgan couldn't even bring theirself to say anything about it, either. They were judging theirself much more than this person ever could for cutting the time so close.

Perdita had a difficult time getting down the hallway. All she really wanted to do was hide somewhere safe to produce her lola, but here this human was having her do this once again in an unnatural environment. She didn't like the way that the floor felt on her underbelly, and it was especially difficult to drag herself along using her front limbs whenever they kept slipping on the tile. Still, she manages to follow the human (the only familiar thing in the entire place to her- though she had in fact been here once before) and Morgan turns around every now and again to allow her to keep up. Eventually, they stop at a particular wall and the door is opened. This one, then? Perdita naturally does want to hide in a little hollow to be able to produce her lola, so she doesn't feel too shy to dip into the room past both the familiar (and unfamiliar) human(s).

Morgan felt a wave of relief pass over them and loosen the anxiety in their chest nearly all at once (almost like the ballasts of a balloon) whenever the Lotine went into the room. Morgan closes the door behind theirself, and after a quick glance around they found the little plastic-y chairs that were put into the rooms for people to be able to sit down and wait things out. The Lotine rooms were a little different than the other rooms (Morgan had heard that, and of course they'd bred plenty of Houluh so they knew quite a bit about those rooms); all the way down to the fake grass that was put on the floor. Towards the middle of the room was a small pool, and on the far end was a couple of little nooks for the Lotine to have a choice on where to produce the Lola.

Morgan doesn't immediately grab for a magazine this time. They were certain that they'd caught their precious Lotine on the cusp of her producing a lola, so they weren't sure that they'd be here for long enough to read a magazine. In addition, they were a little concerned about how Perdita was asking this go around. Sure, she was a little bit on the melancholy-looking side all the time, but today she looked really, really anxious. Something had to be the matter with her, but what could it be? Perdita doesn't immediately go for a hidey-hole either, and instead meanders just on this side of the water. "What's wrong, Perdita?" Morgan asks, standing up from the plastic chair and moving towards her. "You aren't sick or anything, are you?" Most of the time the lotine was more than a little shy- but Perdita allows Morgan to come up to her without any shyness this go around.

The Lotine even pushes her nose into Morgan's hands, and that was when Morgan realized that something really had to be wrong. They checked over her bloom for any mites or anything- and when they didn't find that there was any 'rose rust' on her bloom, they checked her ears. True to any lotine, her ears were very, very long! They lifted one of the delicate ears and looked down and over it and ran their fingers under it carefully. Whenever they didn't find anything wrong with this particular 'ear', they moved on to the next one. Then they moved on to the next one, and finally they found something that was a little 'off'. There was some kind of... Tick? Looking thing that was nestled up under one of her 'ears' right near her head. "What is that?" They maneuvered their own body over to look at it- and they caught a glimpse of something stark crimson attached to her skin.

Morgan doesn't quite fiddle with the thing- because they notice that tell-tale leaflike shape and they realize that Perdita has an instance of one of the most rare phenomenon known to botanists in this area. "...Perdita y-you have a Lolatic." They murmured. Lolatics were incredibly rare... Bound lolatics were nearly unheard of. The botanist in Morgan absolutely jumps for joy; this was a very neat chance for them to study what effect having a Lolatic has on Lotine! They would have to check Perdita's vitals and such to see if she was going to continue to be healthy and also to see if maybe they needed to increase the calories in her feed or some specific vitamin.
They looked at the Lolatic a little more, and then allowed the ear to fall back to it's natural positions. "Well, I'm sorry y-ya have a Lolatic." They murmur to her, patting her on the nose.
Morgan goes to sit down on one of those plastic chairs, and they waited until the lola was produced...
