People really, really liked Vai Min Mur. I had to admit that I did not fully understand the enthusiasm for the grim holiday, but I was glad for all of the people who seemed to enjoy it. Each year, the contest hall celebrated with a special show, so I grabbed a costume and a ghastly looking creature to enter with. I thought Igor wore the tattered old hat particularly well, actually. If he managed to wear it without shaking it off, I thought the judges would really enjoy it. "Stay close, Igor," I said, making sure the frail looking creature did not leave my sight. With so many people and creatures alike dressed up for the show, I wanted to be sure he would not be lost among them. "My name is Star," I explained to the contest hall attendant. "I would like to enter my Ghaenelt, Igor, in the Vai Min Mur contest." ".. Thank you." [22.6, 12.2]

Though it may seem strange, Silver liked the Vai Min Mur contest, and they did their best to enter every year. It was nice to celebrate creatures that may not count as cute or beautiful. Last year they brought Nyx with them, but this year they wanted to try something new. Nyx practically embodied Vai Min Mur, but she was yet to win one of the contests. Perhaps a new approach was best. It took them a long time to decide who to train up for the show, but ultimately they settled on their Akui Malii, Ruiko. Her shadowy wings and flickering black flames were certainly in the spirit of the show, and they didn't think they had ever done something like this with her before. Silver waited patiently, absentmindedly rubbing Ruiko behind the ears while they waited for their turn to register for the contest. As soon as it was their turn, they were clearly startled by the realization. Wasn't it a bit early to start being scared? [153.05, 10.2]

The last time Zenjesi had been here, they had been embarrassingly ignorant. After an experience in the contest hall proper that had left them horrified and cowering in the dark safety of their kennel for a couple of hours, they had sworn never to return. Actually, they had sworn to leave the Labs altogether. Clearly neither had actually come to fruition. Once the initial terror had subsided, they had come to the calmer consensus that others were going to think them strange regardless; they may as well profit in the meantime. This was the Vai Min Mur season. For a few moments, the satyr had wondered if they could simply enter themselves. The only thing that had dissuaded them from actually attempting that was the suggestion of showcasing acidic or shadowy powers. Well, they also had a bit of self respect. Zenjesi held the door for their Rakai-sarane, escorting her on a leash (this one reinforced with metal wiring). Refusing to make eye contact with the worker, Zenjesi whispered, "I am entering Lywren, the Fel."

Emery wasn't exactly an "old pro" when it came to contests, but she at least knew how the registry process worked. The selection of creatures gathered around was much more different than last time, but she supposed she shouldn't be disappointed- the type of contest was far more different. This time they were meant to show off their strangest, their scariest beasts. Orpheus certainly fit the bill, and she had been working hard to get him trained. He was certainly the spookiest looking creature here, with his head made entirely of bone with wisping mist as a "mane" around his shoulders. She had brushed his fur, but it always looked a bit gross. But, that was to their advantage this time. "I am here to enter Orpheus in the Vai Min Mur contest." She said, gesturing to her pet and receiving the paperwork. There was no going back now, that was for sure.

Post by Fiera Ferella on Oct 15, 2023 20:53:30 GMT -6
Another year, another Vai Min Mur contest. Fiera had entered Arethusa in this one before- or had it been the freak show? She couldn't remember for sure, but she WAS feeling pretty confident about it. She hadn't done much training with Arethusa mind, but she DID manage to squeeze in a new move for this, and she was sure it would impress. Additionally, she had a fantastic costume planned for her equillion, and hopefully that would push her over the edge to impress the judges. Arethusa stood quietly while Fiera filled out the paperwork, staring at the competition with a hunter's grace. She was a haughty creature, but knew when to behave, to her credit. When Fiera finished, she brought the papers up to the front desk again, sliding them proudly over the counter, as if just doing that would get her the win. But with Arethusa at her side? That was all she needed.

Skylos hadn't entered a contest in a long time, as he sorts through the mail slotted through the door of his kennel. A merrily decorated poster of the latest contest trend is a thick piece of parchment, liberally decorated in pumpkin and spooky themed stickers. Bring your spooky pets, dress up and have fun. ...a spooky pet? His mind automatically thinks over to the weaver twins, making thicker webs in preparation for the 'long cold'. None of them like the idea of long cold, or as the population calls it, winter. Its not winter yet, but the time of harvest and chilly nights. BUMP The cat is used to the nose jab from behind, raising his shoulder just enough to let the large wedge shaped head fit her nose between it. WOOF. Hrrrm? Kitri's bearlike nose sniffs the sheafs of paper with interest. Hm...
"I'm interested in entering Kitri, my worginu, in your contest." If it wasn't a scare factor of size, the bearlike hound at his side might spook people.

“Echoooo!” The enthusiastic cross chimed as it hopped around in front of Riku. It didn’t know where they were going, but it didn’t seem to matter. If he got too far she’d just correct her path….eventually. She wasn’t too afraid of being alone - she had been until he found her in the mines. Then again, this wasn’t the mines anymore. It was a whole new world she hadn’t really cared to traverse before - and there were so many people! And creatures, too. As they entered themselves into the contest, she saw many beasts that sent shivers down her spine. She was safe with him, wasn’t she? The other ones seemed to be with their own persons…
“Hiya, I’m entering my friend here into the contest.” Riku said to the worker. “She’s brand new, and definitely not the most proper - but that’s what I love about her. I’m sure the audience will as well.”
He leaned down in front of her after signing papers. “Are you excited?”
“Echoooo!!!” She cooed. He took that as a yes. He hoped that their training would be efficient to at least impress people a little bit. It wasn’t about winning.
