Happy Anniversary! That's right, today, March 10th, marks Hidden Crossroad's 14th anniversary! I'm so happy to have reached another milestone in this site's existence, and none of it could have happened without you all! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit this little corner of the internet over the years. I'm so glad you're all here, and I hope we can have even more time together!For those that have been keeping up, we've been running a "Create a Critter" series of polls to celebrate, resulting in the creation of a brand new species! After several weeks and eight polls, the results are in! This fabulous beast is the winner!
A creature filled with swirling negative energy but not affected by it, mysterious in biology and temperament , and soon coming for you all to own! Everyone who voted in every single poll will receive a special VSC of it too! Thank you all so much for participating in the Create a Critter polls. I think we can easily say they were a big success! I'm looking forward to creating this creature in full, and hopefully we can do this again next year as well!Overall, Happy Birthday Hidden Crossroads, and here's to another great year from all of us on the staff team!  |

It's the moment you've all been waiting for - The Underground is trading gems for crystals and fossils! You can choose exactly what you want as long as you can afford it! However you may only purchase one elemental OR divine crystal every three months*. Fossils and Mind crystals are not currently limited at this time. TRods do not allow you to buy an additional crystal. * The timer for this one works on calendar months to make it easier on people waiting for NPC responses. So the first month is the month you buy it in, then the two months after, and finally on the 4th month you can purchase a new one. (So if you buy one on Jan 5th, you have January, Febuary, and March where you cannot buy another, and you can buy a new one any time in April.) Additionally, you can now 'swap' your shop creatures for other creatures of the same variety. For example: you can go to Nature's Bounty to swap a Black Pachee for a White one. The creatures must be of the same species in order to swap, and it must be a species where you are able to choose the color. Any creature you can 'sell' cannot be swapped in this way, including VSC at the Hunter's Lodge. To swap a creature, you must trade for a creature of equal value or pay the credit difference. You will not get a refund if your creature is worth more, however, so choose carefully. Also please make a note in your first post if the creature you were swapping has any training, injections, etc. which need to be registered. They lose all levels, loyalty, training, and potions/items attached since you are giving up your old creature for a new one. I will be working on shop and item descriptions as well as a shopping tutorial with more information, but for now feel free to swap away! |

Permits have gotten a facelift! You may now change your icon and order custom icons! Also, the way public permits work has changed - don't worry, it's even better than before! For anyone with a current permit, you may change to the new style for free, without a need to upgrade. (Also anyone with a public permit may change icons for free, yay!) If you have any questions or concerns about how permits work, what you can update, or any of that stuff, feel free to ask Silver any time.

Boss Battles are here!That's right, now YOU can challenge some of our toughest animals the Pit has to offer. Please make sure you read the Tutorial and ask any questions you might have before going into the fight. Right now we only have Labs created creatures available, but they might get stronger the more they fight! There are rumors out there though... rumors of something... bigger... Addendum: Word count is cut in half for Boss battles! |

Repointe and Worginu can now grow to adult!
   
    That's right, the WELP Corp flagship species are now available in adult form! However, as the juveniles are breedable and rideable in their own right (and worginu actually lose the ability to be rideable in their adult form), this growth is entirely optional! Instead, these species now function similarly to old seryn. If you can get your worginu up to level 20 or your repointe up to loyalty 20, then you can apply here to have them grown! In addition, this applies to all members of the species, not just the basic and special breeds. If you have a custom or offspring that you get up to that level, you can get a new picture of them drawn for free! Any repointe that have foot fluff in their juvie form will have the "heavy" adult base line art, and any that do not will get the "light" base line art, with the accompanying stats for each. With this new and exciting growth however, these creatures have been adopted at even higher rates than before! As a result, the wild repointe and the hellhound worginu are now limited edition, leaving only domestic repointe and big bad worginu available. Hopefully you were able to get one! |

Quick clarification to houluh breedings between user accounts -
There's been a SLIGHT change.
You can now loan out your houluh to another user to breed within your kennel once every 4 months.
You can ALSO loan out your houluh to one of your other accounts OR breed between your own accounts once every 4 months.
These loans have separate cooldowns, so don't worry if you just want to lend your friend a houluh so they can have a cool puppy! You can still breed between your own account later, too, just be mindful of both cooldowns!

The Hunter's Lodge has some new services! Also you don't have to provide the images to purchase a creature any more, since the images are being added into the stats area for everyone to see! That said, if you have an image for a creature that's not on the stats pages hiding around somewhere, please let us know! Thanks. |

In addition to the new format, we also have another little update to share: Each player can now have two characters per tournament, instead of just one! This means that you can join a tournament as your main and secondary character at the same time! There is still a limit of two however. Make sure to be careful if you are entering more than one character, and keep a close eye on the deadlines and matchups as not to mix them up. This update also applies to contests, have fun! |

New WELP Species Release!
    
A new species has been released by WELP Corp! For those familiar with a certain series of polls that happened a couple months ago, you can probably guess who these guys are! For those who can't- they're the species you all built during the create a critter poll! As promised, there is also a special VSC that will be sent to everyone who voted in every single poll. They'll be going out shortly, though the eggs do look... a little different from their fellows. These eggs will hatch on June 1st, and will grow and develop like a normal numbered species. If you'd like to pick some up for yourself, feel free to check them out on the adopt me page!

The Pit staff has grown concerned. With so many animals willing to go until death, their stocks of potions have been reduced.
From now on, any fight will be considered a loss if an animal goes past 0 Stamina, even with Survival Instincts inside of the Pit. Boss battles are exempt from this ruling. |

The Shopping Tutorial is newly touched up and contains some new information. Now you can exchange creatures if you want to change for a different breed/color, and you are only required to post in shops once (unless you're making a trade). Finally, the roleplay requirement on barter has been lifted! You can simply benefit from bater by having the skill and mentioning it as part of your shopping list. Hopefully this also means that if you DO want to roleplay with a shopkeeper, staff with have more time to give you a fulfilling interaction. Side note: As tutorials are updated, the new information might conflict with older sources. Always assume that the most recently posted thread is correct and as always you can ask for help if you need a clarification. We will be updating all the information to be correct eventually, but it's not a fast process, obviously!

There's a ton of new prizes in the fighting pit and contest hall for everyone to check out! We've also adjusted the prices across the board in both places to reflect the new points systems, and make things balanced against each other. Generally, that means that things went down in price, but some under-valued things did go up in price. We plan to add more stuff over time, so definitely grab as many points as you can! Note: We are working on values for weapons and magic items to better reflect their 'power level'. They'll be available when we finish setting that up. |

We have a new prize in the contest hall- memorial houluh! For those who want a houluh that looks like one of their own pets, this is for you! These houluh have the same stat set as "standard" houluh and cannot breed, but are considered VSC for registry purposes. They can be ordered in both the standard and silky line arts for 100 contest points. Enjoy! |
