The human wasn't sure how much longer they would stay on this trip. There were lots of things around to find today, but they had limited time. Morgan didn't really want to have to leave, but they knew that they would need to start working with the dragonoak for the upcoming tournament soon, or they were never going to get done. They wondered if anyone else out there was going to start working towards the plant tournament. How unlucky would they be if they spent so much hard work getting Meteora done, and then the tournament didn't run? She wasn't ready for a free for all, in fact, she never would be. Morgan would not waste time putting such a small creature in free for alls. From what Morgan heard, they were basically wiurn, thundergug, and sarane dominated. It made sense, those were very big creatures.
The dragonoak should be getting ready soon.

Morgan still felt horrible about this, they had no idea how well she would fare if she fared at all. Morgan still wasn't sure if they really wanted to go through with this. Even if they did, and by some miracle they won, they would have to win a whole other tournament or two just to get the points they needed to pick up a golden-tipped alurook. It was a huge mess, and Morgan wasn't sure if this was really what they wanted to get theirself into. However, Meteora was already here, and though she'd make a great producer of acorns, she was built to fight enemies- Morgan had made sure of it. They sighed, and continued looking around in the grass for something interesting to study later. There was these vials, but what else out there would be a good thing to study? The world was quite weird, so it really could be anything.

The world was twisted and strange. It looked normal from far off, but as Morgan came nearer to certain areas, they noticed the weirdness that had to do with Tiken Tekai around. The trees were sometimes made of rubber visually, sometimes made of flesh. Morgan found one that they spent some time at checking around, it was covered in what looked to be dragon scales and had fur for the branches, but it was totally in the shape of a tree. It sent shivers into Morgan's nape, they absolutely hated it. However, the human had to tear theirself away from it when they saw something fly by them that was brightly colored. They only saw it after Meteora did, it was the tilt of her head that had alerted Morgan to the thing. They couldn't quite tell what it was at first glance, but it was headed towards the gate.

Morgan followed the streak of bright rainbow colored light, and the dragonoak followed after Morgan on the lead. They had so much stuff to do today that it was probably the best idea to follow this thing out not only to see what it was but to go closer to the gate anyway. They needed to be able to get the dragonoak trained, and they could not do that out here regardless of what Morgan wanted to do. So they would meander their way towards the front gate, following around a flittering creature that seemed intent on not moving sometimes, and then moving incredibly quickly the second Morgan got close. At least the dragonoak was more interested in this, perhaps a possible prey item? Than the dragonoak had been previously interested in the past. Finally, Morgan gets close enough to reach out and grab one of the wings- it's a dragonfly of some kind!

Morgan was amazed by how colorful everything was. It was so odd, especially this strange dragonfly that looked more art than animal. However, Morgan was getting closer to the gate and it would be possible to go ahead and get out. However, they needed to walk along the gate some ways before they actually got to the part that opened, so Morgan lead the dragonoak around. Along the way they found all kinds of neat things. Morgan picked up a few more vials along the way, and then a strange dream catcher, and even a balloon or two that were tied to the bars of the gate. It was quite weird, what did balloons have to do with anything? They were really cool though, almost looked like the moon. Everything was so surreal at the mansion with month, Morgan knew. As soon as they got to the gate, Morgan checked around for anything of interest, and then they and the dragonoak went home.

The last time Morgan had made their way to the mansion with Millicent, she had not yet known how to speak. She was silent, refusing to even try to whisper to Morgan, and honestly, Morgan did not at all blame her. Morgan wasn't sure what her life was like before Morgan adopted her, and they did not at all pry. This time, however, she could speak, and sort of take care of herself (sometimes she still made childish decisions; which is to be expected with children- Millicent was still quite young), so Morgan felt more comfortable with her coming to the mansion during a month like this where it was a little more dangerous than Morgan would have liked.
So what do perfectly sane normal people do at a mysterious and dangerous place during a month of chaos?
Apparently they wheel a grill out to the inner gate and bring charcoal, a lighter, and food to cook!

Perhaps it would have been better to go out and do the grilling elsewhere, somewhere safer, like the park or perhaps even out in their yard or even in the garden. Morgan was sure that Millicent would love the garden, but they hadn't been out there yet either. Yeah, they would go out and do that eventually. However, today it was 'try not to anger the strange supposedly magical mansion with our cooking' day. Morgan had taken Nico out before here grilling, but it was last year, and earlier last year in fact- almost a year ago now perhaps? Morgan couldn't quite remember. "So Millicent, 'member w-what I told you, right?" Morgan said, giving her a quick cheese of a grin. Millicent crossed her arms and shot Morgan one of those 'really?' looks. Morgan chuckled at her. "If danger happens, run. Wait for me on the other side of the g-gate." Morgan explained, probably for the fourth time.

Millicent complained, and Morgan joked at her, and back and forth they went right outside of the inner gate in the outer yard of the mansion grounds. The mansion didn't typically do too much 'danger magic' crap outside of the inner gate, so Morgan wanted to make sure that she understood where the safety would be. Morgan could theoretically take care of theirself, but Millicent was small. Millicent didn't really like to be considered small, but though she could be quite brash, she wasn't stupid. After a bit of joking around, the pair finally calms theirself, and Millicent finally concedes that she knew, and then snarked that Morgan didn't have to repeat it twenty billion times to her.
Morgan gave her a nervous smile and nodded. When did she start learning snark? Where had she gotten that from? Chances are, it was probably from Morgan and for once they realized what parents tended to think when others taught their children language.

Well, Morgan had never been a parent of any kind before, probably never would again (it wasn't that Morgan didn't enjoy it sometimes or that the work was not rewarding, it was mostly the fact that they just weren't interested in other people physically (at least not yet) and they had no desire to try to produce children with anyone)- so Morgan wasn't exactly confident in their knowledge of how to work with Millicent. Thankfully she didn't seem to be too screwed up yet, so Morgan must not have been messing up too badly. Morgan let out a breath, and reached out for the gate. Millicent caught it almost immediately, that facial expression, and she went from 'totally not understanding why Morgan was being such a dummy about this' to 'oh, there must be something actually wrong here I better look out' really fast.
The human noted that the gate smelled like blueberries for some reason.

Morgan had no idea why the mansion was so surreal this month. Exactly like those weird surrealistic painting styles with the snorfles on stilts in the desert near the maw or something. Absolutely shocking at first glance, kinda freaky after that. The blueberry smells on the gate made no sense. Metal didn't have a smell, but the smell of metal oxidizing and perhaps paint was the normal smell that Morgan detected from the gate. Morgan really shouldn't have been shocked that the mansion was already playing tricks, but it was just such a weird thing. Millicent seemed to have noticed it as well, and she scrunched up her nose at it and squinted. Morgan smiled at her, trying to pass confidence between them, and then opened the gate. Touching the gate left that blueberry smell all over Morgan's hands too, gross. At least it wasn't slimy and covered in blueberry sauce!

Millicent finally decides to ask- "Morgan, why is the gate smelling like bluebe-" She stops, immediately, and blinks. Morgan turned towards her, face a little concerned, and answers her question even though she has seen the world change all of a sudden. "The mansion d-does that kind of shit, y'know Millicent. I-I think I've told you before." They said to her, looking around at the strange scenery theirself. It was time to get past it, and go find a nice place to set up the grill so that they could have their grill-out. Millicent was still pretty excited about that though, so she tried to ignore the weird world out there. Millicent follows Morgan into the inner grounds, and Morgan lets the gate close behind them. The gate that smelled like blueberries because why not? The mansion was super weird like that. The human and the harachiu had no idea why.

Morgan was already getting a bad feeling about this. They decided fairly quickly that they should probably go ahead and go back home, taking Millicent with them when they did, so that they could do some of that grilling at home instead of out here where there was danger. Morgan had no idea what caused them to think that, but there was something more sinister in the air right now, something they didn't quite trust. "Millicent, I think it was probably a bad idea to come out here today. I h-have no idea what I was thinking..." The harachiu looked at Morgan as well, head tilted slightly. She was curious, but seemed to be understanding a bit. "Don't you feel it, too?" Morgan asked, looking over the land and away from Millicent as they did so. Yeah, something was up out here, but what? Morgan pushed the grill outside of the inner gate.
