Morgan felt a bit out of it; like something had ruined their day. The smell of the breakfast meats was nice; but there was something off. The houluh was also on edge, so Morgan decided that they would leave directly after they got done with the breakfast. They felt a bit odd altogether, but wasn't really putting two and two together about the mansion possibly having caused something, or perhaps the chaos node. Morgan probably wouldn't remember this a few days later, and they would not have known. "Hey Nico, you doing okay? You want some breakfast?" Morgan said, trying to pull their mind away from the situation. Morgan couldn't keep their-self from looking around the area, trying to make sure that whoever that was from earlier didn't come back around to bother them. Morgan hated that sort of thing; disliked people that were being nosy. That was what it had to be, right?

Morgan didn't have to work too hard to get the idea off of their shoulders, so to speak. The food was cooking well and smelled good, and it was getting dark enough that the fireworks would start soon. Or rather, it was dark enough out here at the mansion, it couldn't have been at all an hour to have passed, meaning that outside of the grounds it was still early morning. Perhaps Morgan had not slept good enough to go on this trip today, or else it was something other than that entirely? The houluh seemed a bit nervous today, but his nervousness was more of a desire to protect than any actual fear. Morgan was beginning to see that the houluh was perhaps going to be a great guardian dog, despite the fact that they were far too small to be a powerhouse. Perhaps the bespectacled human should start thinking about training things other than tricks eventually?

Morgan would have to give it more thought, of course. The creature's tricks would come first, he was just a puppy, after all, but other things might be fine as well in the future, when he was taller and stronger. Morgan was just beginning to see how the small houluh could possibly shape up in the future; long and lean and fluffy, with a smaller muzzle? Or would his face lengthen out and become pointed? Would he grow into his ears or would they be quite small? Morgan glanced down at him approvingly; his colors were nice at least. He was excellent for Morgan's station as a companion animal, quite a cute creature. He would grow up just handsomely, a nice example of a houluh most likely. Morgan gently reached down and petted his head gently, and then flipped over the meat using tongs. "The food is Almost done, boyo." Morgan said, offhandedly.

Morgan had been wanting to spend a considerable amount of time out here today, just enjoying the scenery while seeing how the houluh would interact when not working, but it wasn't really shaking out to be the best experience due to... Whoever that was. At least the food would be good, Morgan figured. Someday they wanted to really start working on some kind of houluh food; and it was just now hitting Morgan that using freeze-dried meat and broth to top some kibbles (kibbles were great for knocking tartar off of teeth for canids) or maybe even some larger meaty disks would be great. They could even use the barbecue aspect to make it especially pallet-able to the creatures, so that they at least felt like they were getting 'people food'. The mental leaps that Morgan had been able to begin making after the chaos node was swallowed were really beginning to be at least useful.

The houluh would also need treats too, huh? The smell of bacon was always a great hit with canids, and something small yet vegetable-y would probably work wonders while being different. Morgan thought for a moment and then began pulling the meat off of the grill and partitioning it out onto two plates, keeping the seasoned meat from the unseasoned meat. Suddenly, the idea hit them; pumpkin was fine with canids! It would also be really easy to source, since it was not common for people to eat pumpkin around here. Unseasoned pumpkin would be a great treat for a canid, and might work well with the regular food too... The bacon would definitely only be for a snack though, that stuff was greasy and would have to be put into a form that they could digest easily. Morgan was thinking about this; since they had been cooking most of their life and enjoyed it quite a bit. They looked down at Nico while holding both plates up.

"You ready to eat, boyo?" Morgan said, not really being able to force the grin off of their face. He had very obviously been well fed before, it seemed, but Morgan wanted to make sure that he was fed today; they hadn't eaten yet. Morgan wondered vaguely what food they had him on before; they probably should have asked. Morgan gently sat the plate onto the grass for the houluh, and Nico looked at all of it carefully, and then looked up. "Don'tcha want some? I know you are hungry." Morgan gently petted him on the head, a little worried. Not long after they finished petting him, though, Nico tore through the food, eating quickly. "Huh, you just wanted to... Ask permission? No, you wanted me to eat first, right?" Morgan was baffled, and had no idea what was really meant by it.
Morgan pulled a fork from their backpack and tucked into their own plate of food.

So far, things weren't looking too bad for the future. Morgan had a lot they wanted to work on; personal growth of course as well as working with the creatures. That idea loomed over the horizon farther than Morgan could see metaphorically; and they weren't sure how long it would take. Of course, they were a long way from working at the labs, so for now, they could enjoy this sort of thing. They could train their creatures to make the most dangerous army ever, and then, if need to be, they could leave the city. Morgan did not particularly want to leave the city, but it may be required, if they are found out... Morgan finished their food pretty quickly, they hadn't been noticing their-self eat so fast. It was a bad habit they had picked up since their father went missing. As if the food was going to leap off of the plate.
The houluh seemed to get done pretty quickly, and received lots of petting afterward. His big ole ears were certainly cute.

Morgan was knelt down and gently tousling Nico's ears whenever they heard the tell-tale scream of a firework and then the popping noises. The houluh was startled, a bit, and they looked over to the side of the hillock that fell away into the ruby field of fireworks. It was quite beautiful to watch all of the many colors as the fireworks shot up and then exploded. Morgan sat down, mystified even though they had seen this a bit the last few times they had been here. Nico seemed to notice that Morgan was not worried, and relaxed quite a bit. Since when did the bond get to the level to where he was anticipating Morgan's body language? Morgan reached over and petted the pup on the head. The day was good, breakfast was had, and a fireworks show was watched. After the show, Morgan would pack up, and take everything home with them, including the things they had found along the way (totally not) for studying of course.

Morgan was not originally planning on coming to the mansion this month, but the Training Guild had put up a training challenge of teaching a creature how to fly; and Morgan figured that because Waar was still not back- that it would be good to teach the first of Morgan's tat-lungs to grow to mature, Seimei, how to do that. However, Morgan wanted to get to know Seimei a bit better now that he was grown. What better way to do that than to show him around the city; right? The Eccentric's Mansion was a really good spot for that, and for seeing things that couldn't really be seen around the city often. Morgan walked in front of Seimei to show him the way, but didn't keep him on a leash. Morgan was sure that he wouldn't attack anyone, and didn't want to degrade him. Finally, the pair were at the gates of the mansion. They step past the well-oiled gate and into a world that looked quite foreign.

(Going to be going for 20 posts this month to get Seimei four more levels)

Seimei was allowed to pass through first, Morgan knew how to give and take with the creature. On the other side of the gate; the grass quickly turned to sand. In fact, it was that nasty, powdery pale stuff that made Morgan feel a bit icky stepping over it. Thank goodness they had boots on, the feel of sand on their feet made them feel sick when it happened to be on them. Thankfully, there was not much of the stuff in the city. "What do you think, Seimei?" Morgan conveyed, spoke, and signed using LSL. Morgan had indeed learned it to teach time the tat-lungs, after all. Seimei was as quiet as ever, but turned around and snarked in tat-lung ' I had to wait until I became mature for this?' Seimei then turned around, but Morgan could feel his humor. "Yeah yeah, shut yer fluffy mouth fuzzy butt." Morgan replied. The two shared a beat of silence, glancing about the strange world of the Mansion. [2]

Not only was there more sand than Morgan had ever seen in their life thusfar, but there were rolling hills of the stuff, all over the mansion grounds. It was practically amazing how the Mansion did... This. It had to have some scientific reasoning to it, Morgan thought. There were small pools of water here and there; with a larger miniature 'ocean' around the mansion beyond the hills. It was honestly a really short walk, or it would be in a moment. Seimei seems about as excited as a kid in a candy store; but he still manages to keep himself deadpanning. 'You know I don't 'speak' with my mouth.' His teal eyes were full of mirth, but he was trying to remain stark. He had been a very distant tat-lung as a fish, but since maturing, he had found a new interest in life after all. "It's called a metaphor." Morgan replied. [3]

Seimei started forward first. This was his show, after all. Morgan followed after him, despite the sand beneath their boots shifting in a way that the bespectacled human rather disliked. 'Psh, Metaphor huh; sounds like an excuse for getting something wrong.' He conveyed, mostly being absent-minded. He stops to look at a shell, which still had a being inside of it; a mollusk. "That's a mollusk. It's a type of creature that creates a hard shell around its body to protect itself. Most of their bodies are a huge foot." Morgan explained, in triplicate. The tat-lung shoots Morgan a glare for a moment, mostly for show. 'I could tell what it was.' He conveyed. "I'm sure you totally did, even though you've never seen one before." The human joked back. "All hail the almighty Seimei, who knows all." Morgan conveyed, and then performed a rude gesture at him. [4]

Seimei verbally snorted, and then turned to look at Morgan, holding the mollusk between two claws before dropping it into the sand. 'Yeah, I know, I'm pretty great. You don't have to be such a loud fan whenever I do something awesome.' He conveyed, and then caught sight of a mollusk in the water, using the foot to pull itself out of the water. Morgan stepped up to the water and looked down to, looking over at the pearl tat-lung for a moment before he looked at Morgan from his watching position. A moment passes, and finally Morgan frowns. "Do you want the spiel?" They ask. Seimei gives Morgan an eye-roll. 'Fine, fine, since you're itching to lecture me, tell me what the mollusk does in the water, and how they eat. Might as well make yourself useful.' Morgan bends down and puts a hand in the water, stirring up some of the stuff at the bottom of the water. [5]
