Catching on the tip of Juni's soft nose, the pebble bounced off her hamlessly as Lethalia implied again that the hen ought to be good and stop going after treats. At the super offended glare she got, the satyr chortled and added "Aw, didja get hit? Jus' be faster next time." When it came down to it, that was some pretty sage advice that Juniper would never come to appreciate. "See, here's'un!" Lethalia announced, even showing Juniper the pebble before flicking that one at her nose, too. June snorted in shock as she was pelted yet again, not seeing how she could conjure up a treat out of this! "Get out'tha way! Y'saw that'un!" Just when she thought the hen was doing a little bit better - she was also still mostly the same. Another projectile was shown at the hen - she hissed a this one, which was a potential improvement. "Yeah, Juni!" Lethalia praised anyway, because the hen identified it was indeed these little pebbles raining down on her. That was one step in the process. Just like last time, a pebble was flicked Juniper's way. After the third time, Juniper got where this was going! She jerked her face out of the way this time, one side of her muzzle turned up in a snarl at it. "G'job Juni!" the satyr told her, offering a treat faster than the hen thought possible for one to materialize. It was thrown over to the hen, no fingers trusted with this one. "Again?" This should be some of the easiest food Juniper ever earned. She glowered at the next stone Lethalia showed her, as if they were actually doing anything to her other than being a bother. Then again, maybe she was really being that big of a drama queen about it. July|22 danger sense|3

When she was watching for them, Juniper was beginning to dodge the handful of stone ammo Lethalia had picked up. They were at close range and June could watch every one being thrown, but this hen still needed her confidence built. What was better than a small victory with a big payoff? During throwing the last of her stones, Lethalia heard a lazy squeak from her backpack. A complaint from the cliffjumper that slept there - too much jostling from throwing stones for their nap by the sound of it. It wasn't a bad exercise for a hen who was suddenly very food movidated. She just had to move a little bit and she was getting a large portion of food for that?! Naturally, she began to anticipate the next stone her owner would throw for her, a keen eye kept on her owner's throwning hand and treat bag long after the ammunition had run out. If Lethalia had decided she was really teaching this hen some kind of battle sense, keeping an eye out for the next move wasn't a bad thing for her to be doing. The satyr held out both hands to the hen to show Juniper they were empty of both projectiles and goodies. Worked in Leth's favor that the hen's attention span was short. As soon as she was proven to have nothing on hand, the hen whipped her attention elsewhere. If her owner was boring, there were plenty of interesting things to go mess with in all of these tide pools! She'd very well go find a good one. Right when she turned around - that was when a larger, flat rock landed on the fleshy part of her leg with a rather loud noise. Juniper flinched and wheeled on the sting, more in shock than that it truly hurt. July|24 danger sense|5

"Hey," Lethalia said innocently to the blue glower, feeling more guilty than she let off. That was quite the hit she managed to get in. "I mean - watch better," she gave the same sage advice as last time, for all it mattered. There was only so much help she could provide Juniper with for this one. Again, Leth showed Juniper the handful of larger rocks she'd picked up, launching one at the hen as soon as she had. Juniper jerked out of the way and made an upset noise at her, clearly the most offended that her owner was throwing things at her! "Sorry, June," she chimed, even while pitching another rock. Juniper danced out of the way, finally seeing to it to put some distance between them. It was a wise enough choice that Lethalia called out praise to the hen and threw the treat out to her - feeling a little guilty when she flinched at the treat too. Lethalia found her natural, beaming smile settle into place easily. It was a lovely day, the mansion hadn't even trolled them yet, she was out with a hen who was one of the most stunning she'd bred - one that was slowly turning from a terror to a joy to work with. Not a horrible day. Lethalia perked up even more, looking past Juniper up ahead, were there were more abandoned beach gear littering the drab beach with their unnatural shocks of color. June managed to trip over a crumpled towel, stagging and glaring at it and then he owner as if the satyr had placed it in her way. "Look alive, June-bug!" Lethalia reccommended through her giggling. If it were a real beach the amount of refuse people left behind would have been downright offensive. Since it was the mansion, it still seemed rude to litter a 'beach' even within the mansion. There was she sort of thing she was looking for! Leth could feel Juniper's suspicious eyes on her as she dashed past; it gave her reason to want to speed up this 'trick' so she could stop terrorizing her own hen. Typically all was forgiven after the fact, but she hated the leaden feeling of her pets being wary around her. Juniper definitely did not like the look of the large beach ball her owner had gotten her little hands on. Squishing the ball, the satyr deemed it a little bit flat, but still usable. Using a ball that was near-dead felt better than employing a pristine one, even if each would still be just magic junk conjured up by the mansion. It was a marvel the trinkets she'd taken home hadn't dissolved into nothingness yet. "Y'ready June?!" Leth crowed, overly excited to have found a fun toy at the mansion for once. Juniper - remarkably less sharing in the feeling. July|27 danger sense|8

"C'mon June, this'un 'll be easier!" she couldn't help but laugh, encouraging the poor hen who seemed to think she was about to die by beachball. Once she learned this one was a lot easier to dodge and would sting a lot less than tiny rocks, she'd be fine. Leth couldn't feel too guilty about pelting her with a floppy pocket of air; it hardly even rolled when she gave it a gentle toss. In spite of how visible that rainbow and white ball could be, Juniper still found herself staring at the large object boucing towards her and just.. lost track of where to go. She scrambled and feinted one way and then to the opposite, wheeling in place while the ball trundled towards her on the ground. At the last moment - since the ball was going slow enough - she finally chose a direction and twisted dramatically out of the line of fire. July|28 danger sense|9

Leth couldn't help it - her bright laugh rung out over the clearing like a bell, quieting down at the glower from Juniper that implied she knew very well that she was being laughed at. Still the woman made sure to call out praise to the hen, tossing her a few more savory morsels for that 'big' move. She giggled a little more thinking of it as such; watching a hen lose her shit while a deflated ball rolled towards her in slow motion... She gaathered up the beach ball while Juniper crunched down her meal in a hurry upon seeing where her owner was headed. "Ready?" Lethalia asked; if only real opponents did her the service of warning her what was coming up. June squared herself up against her newest brightly-colored rival, tail swaying as she watched out for what direction it was going to make a move first. July|29 danger sense|10

"Smart girlie, June!" Lethalia praised her, right before the beach ball was launched again. Juniper hissed deepyly at it, lunging out of the way too slowly. The ball compressed harmlessly against her hindquarters; in a swing of her barbed tail, nothing more than multicolored ribbons danced in the air. Well then - that was the end of that toy. "Not quite, baby girl," she informed June, and those eyes keenly upset about not getting a reward for destorying her enemy. (That may be the goal later on, consiering how much battle training ought to help the hen out. But for today it wasn't their focus.) Juniper's pleasure at havng burst her assaulter was short lived; there was near immedately another one for Lethalia to grab. "Oooh Juniper!" she called out too-sweetly, for there still being plastic shreds decorating the hen's thorns. "'Nother chance t'get a treat?" Lethalia chased Juniper up and down the beach with any further balls she could find - until her treats ran out, anyway. By that time June looked frazzled enough to wrap up and call it a day, even if they hadn't gotten much exploring the mansion done. Juniper lv|26 ly|26 July|30 danger sense|11 end exit ~

So much had been happening with Juniper so quickly; Lethalia just wanted the opportuity to relax and reset with the hen! There could have been an edge of desperation to the satyr hanging onto the hen so she wasn't in danger of slipping away - she couldn't grow up despising her like Rimefang did! Sure enough she was sweet enough to the satyr when she needed the guidance, but now that she didn't need her it was like she was just as bitter and angry as him. Whatever it was with this legacy of pain, it wasn't fair to his offspring afflicted with it. Maybe she could figure something out with Juni. Luckily she didn't have reason to fear the hen like her sire, but she was so sullen and cranky after her fight with Esti. A true brooding young adult, no doubt - she just had to hope June would come out of it for the better. Juniper lv|34.1 ly|34.1 July|31

There was still something that compelled her to drag Juniper off here. Though coming home with a suddenly, fully-grown hen was one of the biggest surprises the place had in store for her - that trip had been one of the neatest ones. Hidden caves and volcanic canyons that showed old signs of life along with too-friendly pocket dragons. Even if the mansion had set it all up, the display had been impressive. Maybe she wanted to go with Juniper again in hopes of another venture like that. Still, there was something about that bleach white driftwood tower that called to her. She could swim well enough, Juniper was (with a llittle help from an injection, but still) made for it, and they would both be happily breathing as long as they had charms on them. Lethalia was determined, packed with plenty of treats and lunch for herself, that it was a day she was going to make work. A hen's sour attitude or not. July|32

It was really starting to feel like she'd been spending a lot of time with Juniper, and while she might be going through a sour phase it was pretty clear she was a rather attached creature. Leth might never get a touchy hen back - she was well past needing that comfort in her life - but unlike her sire, there was nothing to fear from her. Having an up and coming protector with her at the mansion; that almost sounded like a good time! Too bad they never encountered any real monsters at the mansion. All of the things she'd run into here were a little quieter than that. If you didn't count the firework room. Most of the mansion's tricks were subtle and insidious enough that sometimes she felt like her brain was leaking her fears all over the place. If she could keep that from happening, it would be a fine day. July|33

June would follow her near anywhere at this point, but definitely gave that tower a second look as they came upon it. "I know. Y'member?" Lethalia asked, wondering how to measure the recollection of sarane. Even with a direfct link to two of them, their intelligence had always been a little dubious. The again, the mansion looked literally nothing like it had in the previous months. This jagged white tower didn't exactly bring to mind a luxurious home. That was why she never wanted to go here without an animal and their superior sense of when something was awry. So she could go and do something like this plainly ignoring Juniper's hesitation over the tower. They'd come here with a goal in mine - or at least Leth had wholly intended on going inside today.. A creature who didn't often go inside would have some hesitations over going into a cramped space; that was all it was. July|34
