Alerios could feel the energy and hype flowing from the leopard, soaking it in. It could do this! It was almost surprised with itself by how it was enjoying causing such a ruckus. Going from quiet and reserved to loud and proud was a dramatic difference, but with the keeper's help and encouragement, it felt oddly comfortable. The wiurn tried again, taking in a deep breath. Then, let it out with force, bellowing out a trumpeting cry. It frosted the air in doing so, letting some of its imbued cold energy escape with the call. With this new, shared excitement, the wiurn even felt good letting out such a noise. "Good, Alerios! Good roar!", Xentus praised, beaming happily. There was a certain awe about feeling such a sound reverberate through one's body. And he was sure he damaged his hearing a bit, given the residual ringing.. But it was worth it!

Expending so much verbal energy after a nap got the two of them pretty pumped. Alerios looked ready for anything the leopard might challenge it with next. The man mused on the next step of his training plan - using those wings as weapons. He'd done it once with Mira, having her pump those four wings to blast her opponents with a slicing wind - a strategy which led them to a decisive victory every time. While it might not be the wiurn's primary weapon, having some options would only do them well. The leopard set up the training dummy on the stand and directed the wiurn's attention to it. [Knock it down with your wings, Alé. Without touching it], Xentus instructed intentionally loosely. He wanted to see what the reptile would try first. Intuitiveness was not a strong suit of the wiurn, and it showed as the creature tried to 'punch' with its wings.

The 'punch' stopped short of the dummy so not to touch it, as directed. The motion was strange at best, and wholly ineffective at achieving anything remotely as the man had asked. Alerios gave its best attempt, but soon looked at its keeper with a tilted head, confused at this instruction. Xentus only laughed and donned his pair of mechanical wings, opting to lead by example yet again. Papilio whirred with increasing intensity as it powered up, and once it reached lift-off potential, the man pointed the thrusters toward the dummy to blast it with the channeled air. It was easily blasted off its stand - leaving quite the impression on the wiurn. It hadn't thought of doing that. [Alright Alé, try again], Xentus told the beast after he reset the dummy, [Beat your wings hard, like you'll take flight]. The wiurn spread its wings then flapped them as it would to fly.

But directing the winds it made was proving to be a harder task than envisioned. Its wings normally flapped downward to provide lift for flight. But in this case, it needed to flap forward to channel that air toward the target. Alerios lifted itself into the air briefly instead of buffeting the dummy. Xentus could feel its frustration beginning to grow. "Good wing!", he praised aloud still, happy with the attempt, [Try again!]. The wiurn felt reassured with the praise, but knew it would need to focus better. It repositioned and tried again, rearing up and spreading its wings to flap them more forward this time. Pushing air this way also meant it would need to brace against it, something it wasn't well postured for. When trying to fly, it could rely on its own weight. But when grounded like this, it had to steady itself on its rear legs, using its tail as a stabilizer.

This attempt saw a little more success in making the dummy topple over. But the wiurn was wobbly on its legs while doing so. Not an ideal stance to have in a real fight. Being a much larger creature than the mosca, it could exert a good amount of wind on a target, but channeling that wind with force was proving to be more difficult. A case of bigger not always being better. Still, the leopard saw it as good progress. "Yes, wing, Alé!", he called aloud to tie the action with a verbal command. While the ribbon was a useful communication tool, he didn't want to rely solely on this telepathic link. And Alerios seemed to respond well when hearing his voice anyway. The leopard reset the dummy on its stand, then had the beast repeat the exercise. He wanted to see more focused wind - something that would truly batter an opponent.

And so Alerios tried again. The beast eyed the training dummy carefully as it remembered the important lessons thus far - forward focused wings, braced well with its tail and legs. Its wings unfurled and beat heavily, sending a great burst of wind at the target. Alerios stumbled a bit in an attempt to maintain its stance, but seemed to have the gist of it down. The dummy was sent tumbling backward, stopping against a nearby tree with a thud. "Yes!", the man cheered both aloud and through their mental link, "Good wing, Alerios!" The beast was thrilled to have pleased its keeper, hissing happily. It watched eagerly as the man reset the dummy for another try. [One more time, Alé. Harder, faster, send the doll flying!], the leopard encouraged, stepping away to let the wiurn do its thing. "Wing!", he commanded. Alerios was ready, pumping its wings with as much power as it could muster - causing the dummy to go hurling backward.

"Good job, Alerios!", the leopard praised, proud of the wiurn's work. The battered and beaten dummy was defeated, laying crookedly against the tree it slammed into. The sight reminded the leopard of the bull he and Mira fought against.. A flurry of wings and wind was a deadly force - the murp had died. And revived, finishing in the rest of its fights just fine. But the whole concept of him training a dangerous beast for combat was sinking in deep. The force of a wiurn's wings could probably kill a man. The humanoid shape of the dummy was rather unsettling. He was training for creature-on-creature combat, but the beasts in his command wouldn't bat an eye if he directed their attacks toward a person. He'd need to look into a target that was more.. Ambiguous. Or at least more animal-shaped than human-shaped. Xentus shook his head to get his mind off the idea, redirecting his attention to the wiurn.

The large reptile was buzzing with excitement. It did well in its training after all, and deserved to relish in the moment. It hardly noticed the man delving deep into his own thoughts. Xentus gave Alerios a pat on the head, then went over to his pack to fish around for something to better reward the beast. A good meal was in order - he couldn't remember when they last ate. After expending so much energy today, he was certain the creature would grow hungry sooner or later. Normally he only kept snacks and treats handy, but since today was going to be a long training session, he'd brought along a good wiurn-sized 'gug steak. [Hungry, Alé? This one thinks now would be a good time to eat], he asked the creature, looking over his shoulder at the white and blue mass of scales and fur. Alerios seemed to consider for a moment, then decided that a bit of food sounded nice.

A raw steak for the wiurn and a tinned curry lunch for the leopard. The man doffed his jetpack and gave the beast its meal, then leaned up against a tree to enjoy his own. Tepid curry wasn't the best thing to eat, but it still delicious all the same. Alerios seemed dissatisfied with the temperature of its meal, blowing a frosted breath over the meat to solidify it. Xentus watched on, intrigued by this. The wiurn made its steak solid enough to crack and break into smaller chunks, daintily crunching on the broken sections of meat. Strange, but he supposed if that was how the beast liked its food that was fine. He imagined Nazura was the opposite and cooked? Froze? Its meals before eating them as well. Or perhaps Alerios was simply more picky. The mental image was amusing for the man, regarding the feeding habits of his creatures.

His own meal was good enough to sate his hunger for the moment. Chicken curry and rice was impossible to go wrong with. He could feel himself craving more at home later.. He probably had leftovers still. While the leopard entertained himself in his thoughts of curry, the wiurn finished its meal quickly and quietly. There was much less on its mind than its keeper's. It did wonder what the next thing they were going to do was. It was eager to learn more and spend more time with the leopard. The value of these lessons were mainly in being with Xentus. It was awfully attached to man, eager to do as he asked, eager to be near him, eager to earn his affection.. There was something comforting about his presence. Even with all the time they'd been spending together, it hardly seemed like enough. Alerios found itself edging near the man while he was finishing his lunch, eagerly awaiting whatever it was they were going to do next.

Xentus could feel the wiurn's anticipation. After getting all pumped up like that, it was hardly unexpected. A little out of character for the normally sleepy, reserved beast, but Xentus enjoyed seeing this part of it come out. He held out a hand for Alerios to nuzzle while he ate - a gesture which the creature didn't hesitate to take the man up on. It could cherish even just some simple touch like this. It nuzzled the padded palm with the tip of its snout, breathing its chilly breath into his hand. Xentus smiled. Tender moments like these were so heartwarming. It wasn't too long before he was done with his curry. Now, what to do next? He felt there wasn't too much more that he'd try to teach the wiurn now - Alerios was pretty well-learned now. If the tournament were to start tomorrow, he felt like they'd stand a fair chance at winning fights.

Xentus gave it some thought and decided on exploring more of the wiurn's potential for utilizing the frigid cold. It could breathe an icy winter's breath, but how else could this power be utilized? He wondered if it could expend that cold energy in a different means.. And if it could, how would this take effect? Xentus mused on the thought as he rubbed along the wiurn's neck and belly scales, searching its body for hints. Alerios was quite content with any kind of petting, letting out a happy hiss. And as the man felt over the beast's chest, he noticed the chilly scales. Its core was the likely source for that cold energy to emanate, he figured. And that sparked an idea. If it could radiate this cold from its core, this would make for an interesting counter to anything that came too close. There weren't many defensive options for the wiurn, so this would hopefully amount to something..

[Hmm.. Ale, become colder], the man requested, still touching the chilly belly scales. It was an odd thing to ask, but he was curious to see how the wiurn would react. Alerios had no problem with this request, much to the man's surprise. The creature breathed in a deep breath, as if it were about to loose a wintry blast, and held it in. Immediately the temperature of the beast's scales dropped, almost becoming too much for the man to bear touching. Surprised by the sudden change, he withdrew his hand and considered what he could do with this.. The frigid energy only extended to the beast's surface. If it could expand this radius, it would be quite close to the idea he had. This was a great start to work with! A determined grin flashed on the leopard's muzzle as he went to his pack to prepare a couple things for this next lesson.

The first was a bottle of water. It would make for a good measure of just how cold the beast got and how far it could expand this cold energy. The next was some leather gloves. They weren't the warmest, but they'd be much better than bare hands if he were to try handling the wiurn in some fashion while doing this. And finally, some meat scraps. Exercising the wiurn's ability to expel its cold energy was going to be taxing on its body. It would need to eat and rest to recharge while they practiced. Satisfied with the few preparations he could think of at the moment, the leopard returned to the wyvern's side. [Alright, Alé. Become colder again], he asked, [Cold enough that this one can no longer bear touching you]. Alerios breathed in and again lowered its temperature steadily, using its innate cold essence to cool down.

With the leather gloves on, the leopard could bear to keep his hand placed on the wiurn's chest for much longer. But gradually he could feel the cold seeping through. [Keep at it, Alerios], the leopard encouraged, [Draw out as much of that inner ice as you can]. The wiurn shifted as it tried to focus on its keeper's request, letting out its deep breath in a slow, seething exhale through its teeth. Frost clouded around its mouth and nostrils, and little bits of frozen condensation formed on its belly scales. Xentus was still able to keep his hand on the beast, but it was beginning to feel like he was holding onto ice. The chilling aura slowly made its way past the leather, threatening to frost the man's fingers.. But the beast faltered before the leopard withdrew. "Good, Alerios! Good freeze", the leopard gently praised aloud as he rubbed the beast's neck.
