Ooh, pretty leaves!

Leaves, leaves - scattered all over around the ground, dried and brittle and... seemingly made of a wax like substance? It was curious enough for Sevyrn to pick up - maybe it was something like those strange little snake-eyed marbles that had been scattered around plentifully during her last visit here... the strange little marbles that had shown her more spoils of the mansion. Would these leaves bring her something new? Something that suited the creepy theme of this month's persistent illusion?
There was nothing of interest to be found in the chests, though, so Sevyrn made her way back towards the trap door that would lead her out of the attic, summoning her ghaenelt over to her once she got there. Sevyrn took Fier in hand and then climbed back down in to the bedroom below, where the gaze of two bone familiars swiveled towards her. It seemed that her absence had been noted.

"What? Did you guys miss me?" Sevyrn cracked a smile that was barely visible in the soft glow of moonlight that illuminated the room before crouching down to put Fier back on the ground - the ghaenelt was squirming to be free long before his little feet finally touched the ground. Despite the fact that he was rather unnerved by this creepy place he seemed to be growing fonder of exploring and checking things out on his own with time, so Sevyrn let him wander. She had already checked out this room before, there didn't seem to be any threats inside - and any that dared to approach would have to come up the creaky spiral stairs so everyone in the room would know before whatever it was showed its face.
She didn't want to stay here for much longer, there was more of the mansion to see, but for now... Well, it seemed like a good time to rest.

She didn't dare to lay in the bed - no, that would be a little too much. She did take a seat along the edge of it, though, and pulled out a bottle of water so that she could take a quick drink. As she did so she looked around the room, examining the collection of tiny creatures that she had come across upon first walking in - they seemed to have grown comfortable with her presence, or perhaps simply that of the familiars and tolerated her as an addition. Whatever they were, she found them to be rather curious is not slightly creepy. They... suited the theme that the mansion was going for, that was for sure. As she watched the small group of little creatures, she had to wonder if there were any more like them wandering the halls - surely there was no chance she had seen every little critter already.

After finishing up a quick drink Sevyrn had a bite to eat, and then it was time to get back at it - the ghaenelt seemed to be showing an interest in something at the back of the room but she had no idea what... was it worth going to visit? The floorboards creaked beneath her weight as she stood from the bed, a loud groan that left Sevyrn almost sure that they were going to snap beneath her feet and send her tumbling to the floor below. Luckily such a thing did not happen, so the young woman wandered over towards where her creature stood, sniffing at a bookshelf... and the strange marks on the ground like the edge of the shelf had been dragged away from the wall and back again many times before.
Curiosity got the better of her, and Sevyrn took hold of the edge of the bookshelf and pulled it forward.

The moonlight couldn't reach behind the shelf, but Sevyrn swore she could see a spot in the wall that had been torn apart... She shivered at the mere thought of what she was about to do, but walked back towards the spiral staircase to pick up the candle nonetheless. Armed with light, the young woman wandered back towards the secret entrance. She had to bend to make her way through it, the hole in the wall about four feet high, and she came out the other side.
There were no windows on the other side - there was nothing but pitch darkness coating what seemed to be a nearly endless hall way. As she took her first steps down the hidden hall Fier poked his head in to see what his girl was doing, and then trailed close by her as she moved. "Follow me," Sevyrn said in a voice so soft it was a whisper.

All the candlelight illuminated was another of those strange blob shaped creatures - this one a vivid red rather than the colors of decay that the last one had. She crouched down and held the candle in front of her to get a better look at the strange little thing - and upon doing so, swore that she could see its entire body pulsating like that of a spleen removed from a body. Sevyrn shuddered at the thought, though it was definitely the kind of thing that she could expect to find in a place like this. It was the perfect little creepy companion to come across in here.
The strange little thing turned towards her, watching her with beady little eyes that were barely visible against its body. It started to move towards her, leaving what seemed to be a trail of slime behind it. Boy, was she going to have quite the collection of creepy little things when she was done with this visit.

Down the darkened hallway she heard a crash - coming somewhere from the left of her, away from the room in which she had just left - something was behind the walls, crashing about.
Crash!
A second crash boomed louder, the walls beside her vibrating enough that dust and cobwebs were freed from the slowly decaying wood that made up the frame of her little secret passage. What the ever loving fuck was that? A third crash came, this one even closer to where she stood behind the wall - did something know that she was in there? Did she want to know what would be on the other side?
No... No, she did not. Fier didn't seem interested in finding out either, though luckily being trained to accept loud noises like that had done its job - he didn't leave her side, as much as he watched what was going on in hesitance.

Did she wander back from where she came from, or did she dare to venture forward? She decided to keep moving, and with every step she took whatever it was seemed to follow - either she was being haunted, or there was something seriously out to get her (or Fier). Sevyrn kept the ghaenelt close lest something break through the already weak walls. If something was going to get in here... it would be taking her before it would dare to get its hands on to one of her creatures, especially one of the babies.
"Shh," Sevyrn said to the young one as he started to cry out to her, obviously afraid to keep venturing forward. She soothed him by picking him up and holding him close as she continued to wander, the touch of his girl seeming to soothe him enough that he was willing to quell his cries. Poor little thing...

She could see through the dim candlelight that the hallway took a turn coming up - and that unnerved her. As much as the sight in here wasn't great, Sevyrn didn't enjoy that she had no way to know what was lurking around the corner - if the walls opened up to another room, if whatever seemed to be stalking her would be waiting...
Then a crash came from above, in sync with another boom from her left side. The combination of the two was enough to startle Fier, whose instincts took control over his training. The young ghaenelt panicked, scratching at Sevyrn's chest to get away. His claws raked across her neck and the resulting sting was immediate - as was the slow trickling feeling of liquid flowing down her neck.
Fuck.
Sevyrn dropped the ghaenelt to the ground, driven by her own instincts as much as she was - and Fier cried out as his body hit the ground.

What did she tend to first - her own bleeding neck wound, or the crying ghaenelt on the ground beneath her? All the while the crashing continued, expanding to come from every which direction - this had to be a haunting, there couldn't be any creature so insidious that it could surround her like this. The increasing cacaphony of crashes had set both of the pair in to panic mode, and Sevyrn scooped Fier in to one of her elbows and held the other hand to her neck as she ran to get out of this haunted hallway.
It followed - closer and closer with every bang. Something in here was trying to drive her crazy, and it was doing a damn fine job of it.
As soon as she broke back through the hidden entrance with blood slowly trickling down her arm, the crashes stopped dead in their tracks - whatever it was had won, and it knew that.

The amount of blood trickling down her arm was scaring Sevyrn - if her neck was bleeding like that, then she was in big trouble. She was in too much shock to even feel the clawed gashes in her arm that were producing the vast majority, though - adrenaline kept her from feeling the pain that should have been alerted her that she was more hurt than she thought she was.
Feir cried out as he landed on the dirty old bed, not hurt like Sevyrn was but terrified instead. She was freaking out and it made him freak out - but he was safe and unhurt and as such her worries were not on the ghaenelt right now.
She needed bandages... cloth... something now - and then to get the fuck out of here before this wound on her neck ended up killing her because she fainted before she could find medical help.

Sevyrn pulled her bag off of her shoulder in a rushed hurry, not daring to move her other hand enough to free it fully. It was an awkward jaunt trying to dig through her bag one-handed but she knew that she kept a first aid kit in thereā¦ it had to be somewhere, hiding amongst the collection of spoils that she had all too eagerly taken from the mansion. Had that been a poor decision? Was she being punished for daring to steal from the specters lurking within these haunted walls?
There it was - Sevyrn's fingers wrapped around the familiar plastic casing of her first aid kit and she grasped it hard, yanking it past every thing that got in her way to remove it. Jars and tidbits changed against each other as they were forced out of the way, and Sevyrn felt sweet relief once it had been freed.
