Sevyrn and the pup were able to collect a few more things during their time down at the river, namely two pretty shells and another of what seemed to be the most common type of river plant life. She elected not to stay there with him for very much longer, though - night started to settle in and it was time to head home - Spot would have a big day tomorrow as it would be time for his debutante show. Two days later she returned again, this time sporting Squirt and her wagon with her once again - as much as she wanted to keep Spot down here with her as a fishing buddy, it only seemed right to use fishing time as an opportunity to bond with the one near-sentient creature that she had found within these waters. Squirt was some really fun company anyways, when she wasn't trying to shit disturb. 106

Sevyrn loaded the sea pony in to the river as soon as she was able to, leaving the aquarium being dragged along in her cart a little less weighted down and easier to tug along the beaten dirt path that would lead the way to Sevyrn's favourite riverside spot. She should probably check out some other places at some point, but really... who was it hurting if she just wanted to get comfortable in one area? No one - no one at all.
"Whatcha think, Squirt?" Sev asked the pony as they idly trailed along the beaten-down dirt pathway, slowly making progress towards their destination. "Are we going to find anything good today? What about you - why don't you bring me something good? I'm sure that you know what nice things can be found in the river better than I do, sweetie." The pony giggled, floating in the water along side Sevyrn. Did it know of any nice spots to hang out?

Maybe they should check out somewhere new... Maybe a little stony beach area? Maybe there would be an abandoned dock to settle on somewhere farther down the river's edge? Maybe she should just ask Squirt to lead them somewhere - anywhere. The little sea pony had to know of some good spots along the river, somewhere rich with food - which would likely be an amazing spot for Sevyrn to settle down, giving that she was hoping to bring home some new fish and plants for the pond back home. Come winter these little fishies would probably make some great found food for her carnivores, and for now they served as excellent buddies for the seryn and for Squirt back at home.. dual purpose. If she got lucky enough and found multiple of the same species, she might even be able to get them to start breeding in her pond and then she would be one step closer to self-suffiency.

"Why don't you take us somewhere?" Sevyrn posed to the sea pony, who cocked her head towards the girl - they had spent plenty of time together now and Squirt was starting to get a basic idea of what the sounds this woman made might mean. Squirt or you when Sevyrn looked towards her meant that she was being talked to! That... wasn't very much admittedly. It was something! She wanted to know all of what Sevyrn said to her, though - the hard part was just trying to make the connections between Sev's words and the actions or things that they were meant to mean. She was a smart little cookie and she would figure it out eventually, though!
"Go!" Sevyrn directed, pointing forward in hopes that the sea pony would swim off and take the lead. She seemed so happy to just bob along side Sevyrn, though - perhaps another time.

There was nothing stopping Sevyrn from looking to find a new place on her own, though - all she would have to do was follow the length of the river's edge until something stood out. She was in no rush so she kept up her casual pace, chatting with a very observant sea pony who seemed to be trying to understand her. She almost came to a stop when they came across their normal spot but pushed herself to keep going, to keep wandering along the shore line until something a little bit more interesting came in to light.
It was another ten minute's walk before she stopped - a small abandoned cabin sat close to the tree line, with an old boat tied to a dock nearby. It was almost exactly the kind of interesting thing that Sevyrn had been hoping to come across. A grin lit up her face as she sped up, and although confused about the chance Squirt moved in tune.

Sevyrn found herself more interested in checking out the cabin than getting set up to fish, but she ditched her backpack at the start of the dock with Squirt there to watch it, and then zipped over towards the cabin itself. She knocked on the door three times - nothing. That was unsurprising, the place seemed to have been long-since abandoned, with broken glass in the windows and a think layer of dust coating the wooden chair and dead plants that sat on a table out front.
She didn't dare venture in to the house, not yet at least - the last thing she needed was for the place to be watched, or for there to be something dangerous inside of the house. She did swear that she heard a rattling inside... Maybe she would check it out once she had a little bit more confidence and a little less fear. Fear could be healthy, though.

She loved having access to a dock, though - it went out about ten feet in to the water, which meant that she would likely be casting from an area already deeper than where her line normally ended back in their original spot. Deeper waters generally meant more places for fish to hide beneath the surface, and with that more fish hiding down there. Squirt seemed... off.
Sevyrn knelt at the edge of the dock, and looked towards the sea pony. "What's up, buttercup?" She asked the sea pony, cocking her head. She wished that the little thing had a way to talk back to her and let her know what was going on - Sevyrn couldn't even figure out what seemed off about her, just that she seemed... strange. Not as happy go lucky as she usually was.
Off the edge of the abandoned boat laid a net, half-fallen in to the waters beside it.

How was Squirt supposed to tell the girl that she didn't like this place? The sea pony had utterly no clue, but she wasn't about to run away from her friend - this was her friend, her bestest buddy at that! But if Sevyrn looked closely at the net hanging off of the boat she would see that there was a hole torn open through part of it. Not long before Squirt had come to meet Sevyrn, she'd gotten tangled up in that wretched thing of two days before someone had finally walked by and freed her - she hadn't even stuck around to thank her savior, that was how desperate she was to get out of this area once she had been freed!
She was safe if she stayed on this side of the dock.... right? Sevyrn wouldn't let her get hurt, and if something happened the girl would be right there....
Squirt was not sure.

"Everything is okay," Sevyrn tried to assure, using one hand on the wood of the dock to support herself as she leaned forward over the edge to reach out and give the sea pony a little pat on the head. Everything would be okay... Sev would not let her get hurt. Sev would not let her get trapped in the net again, and even if she did get trapped in the net again she would not be stuck there for two days with such a helpful, friendly best friend there with her to keep her safe.
Her little whimper tugged at Sevyrn's heartstrings, though, and she wished that she knew what was plaguing the sea pony so deeply. "Hey - why don't we go fishing now?" Sevyrn asked, trying to distract the little thing. "Go swim off - see if you can find anything under the water!"
She really was going to have to teach Squirt how to fish on command at some point.

Sevyrn moved away and started to get ready to fish, but she kept a very watchful eye on her sea pony all the while - she desperately wished that she was able to understand what was bothering the poor little thing, she just didn't seem to really like this place at all. Sevyrn thought it was amazing - it was just what she had been looking for. She hadn't paid any attention to that boat resting on the other side of the dock, though - it wasn't like she was going to be able to sail it or anything. She attached a hook to her line and walked down the dock, Squirt floating along at approximately the same level as she was, and took a seat down at the edge of the dock. The water was too low beneath the dock's height for even her toes to touch, but that didn't mean the river would be shallow... This area spanned quite a wide distance, and would hopefully have something interesting. 115 Squirt - 6

Huh - the first thing that she pulled up was another of those strange sad looking green fish, her second of the kind. Sevyrn had pulled up one of those strange fish before when she had been here with Bez. She wasn't sure that she wanted to keep a second one of them, but it was a nice find nonetheless - worst case scenario she would be able to make a few credits off of it, or maybe see what the trader had to offer this month... there tended to be some interesting creatures down there sometimes, though she hadn't yet actually done more than browse. A few sea shells also laid in the water near it, and Sevyrn reached in to the water to scoop them out.
It gave her an idea - maybe she could teach Squirt to fetch shells and plants so that she didn't have to dive in after them?

She had shells in her hand, plants from earlier, and now a fish - she had everything that she would need to make a great fully training fishing buddy out of Squirt here. There was no reason not to go for it!
"Hey Squirt," Sevyrn called to the sea pony, who bounced in the gentle waves towards her. The little thing still eyed the net on the other side of the dock warily, but she had trust in Sevyrn. Now that she had Squirt's attention, Sevyrn held the shell out towards her.
"Get the shell," Sevyrn said to the sea pony, and then dropped it in to the water in front of her. Squirt didn't seem to get it, and the shell started to sink beneath the surface. That was alright - they could try again. Sevyrn reached in to the water to snatch the shell back up, and held it towards Squirt until she showed interest in it.

This time Sevyrn waited until Squirt was already interested in the shell before tossing it out gently for her to retrieve. "Get the shell, Squirt," Sevyrn said to the little one, repeating the command and pointing to the shell as it started a shallow sink beneath the surface. "Get the shell."
Then, finally, the sea pony ducked its head beneath the surface of the water and snatched the shell out of the water. She bobbed back up and looked towards Sevyrn, rather happy with herself - she'd wanted the shell! Sevyrn took it back to her with a smile on her face.
"What a good job!" Sevyrn praised as she took the shell back, and gave the sea pony a good pat on the top of her head. The affection made Squirt even more proud of herself - she had done a good job!
Of course, now it was just time to try again.

One round wasn't nearly enough to call anything a success, so Sevyrn tried again. Squirt had a busy brain right now - she needed to correlate the word shell with the object she was after, and that 'get' meant that she was going to have to go grab it. Luckily it would probably be easier to teach her to get plants after this, as the only new thing she would have to understand was the difference between plants and shells. Or would that make it more difficult? Sevyrn supposed that she would find out the answer to that in a little bit.
For a moment, Sevyrn focused on teaching Squirt what a shell even was. She had multiple different ones collected, so that east easy enough. After a bit of that she pulled the sea pony's attention back in to training mode and then once again asked her to go get the shell right before dropping it in to the water.
