The bespectacled human is working hard, too. Morgan continues to reel in the line really slow after letting it float down the river. The idea was to eventually catch the attention of a fish, and perhaps try to catch a few more things before sundown. They weren't even sure if they were going to leave right away, when the sun went down. They didn't catch anything, again, so they pulled back in the line the rest of the way. Aha, that was the problem- the grub had fallen off! They wondered how long ago that happened, but grabbed the little pouch with the cheapo grubs in it.
As Morgan wrestled the new grub onto the hook, Endymion returns again at full speed, skidding to stop near Morgan. He was still breathing pretty hard. "How's it going?" Morgan asked him, finally getting the grub onto the hook.
He huffed and puffed, but answered a quick- "Fine."

Plip. Plip. Plip.
Was that rain? Oh great. It didn't seem that cloudy this morning, but the sky is full of dark clouds swollen with precipitation. Slowly the drops fall at first, but they quickly pick up speed. Before too long, it's a full on downpour, and there aren't many places to hide in the canyons.
If that wasn't bad enough, the ground around the river turns into a sludgy muck. It's hard to navigate, sucking at the feet of all those who try to step in it.

It was just at that point that a rather random group of incredibly enraged looking clouds began to roll in over the top of the canyon. Morgan had not seen it coming of course. Both Morgan and Endymion looked up at the same time, and at the same moment rain began pouring down, starting with a few teeny droplets. Both of them ran scrambling for the edge of the canyon on the side they were on, where they would be able to avoid the most of the rain. Morgan's clog boots came in clutch whenever the rain came down fast and strong, turning the river and the rock that they had been standing on to mostly mushy mud. They had to pack up and go the best that they could to avoid being drowned out.
"Guess we'll have to work on your e-endurance next time we're out here." Morgan says.

It was several days before the rain stopped enough for the pair to return. During that time period, Morgan spent a few days in the Labs City, where it wasn't even raining at all. It wasn't suspicious or surprising, the places were a decent distance away from one another. However, the human was ready to get back to working with Endymion over his Endurance and ability to dodge multiple times in a row. Part of the reason why it was so important for him to do that was that Morgan was hoping it would build his muscles up and make learning to fly later on much easier to do.
The pair go on several of these small fishing trips during the next week. Endymion works on his dashing skills each time, pushing himself to the brink of a breakthrough, Morgan was sure. Another week of that, and Morgan was sure he was about to make it.

Finally, they went on the trip that made Endymion truly excellent at dashing multiple times in a row. Morgan drags all of their things and a picnic down to their spot on the shore, which was now quite a bit more dry than it had been even just a few days ago. Morgan put their supplies down and got everything around, and then laughed as Endymion started the dashing thing earlier than he had before. He was so serious about this the last few weeks, and it seemed like he was really serious about it yet again. The human watched as he kicked up dust with his hind legs. They had their fingers crossed that his abilities would finally improve today.
Morgan began to set up their picnic, and kept an eye on the young draconic enough to tell that he really was doing quite a bit better indeed! "You're getting it!" Morgan hollered.

Endymion could hear Morgan calling after him, but was so far off that he wasn't really sure what they were saying. He did know that they would give him the whistled call if he was indeed going to need to come back, so he just kept pushing himself further and further along the wall. He wasn't really stopping for any kind of rest now in between the dash attempts. He was quickly turning around as soon as the space to run on beside the river got too narrow for him. He turned on a dime and kept dashing back to Morgan, as fast as he could be. He skids finally to a stop in front of Morgan, dust all kicked up behind him, and he realizes- he wasn't tired, he wasn't trying to catch his breath. That didn't even exhaust him! He excitedly cracks a draconic grin and hops. "I did it!"

Morgan smiles at him. "Yup, you d-did it. Good job on all that hard work!" They said to him. Then, they held up a sandwich. "Want lunch?" Morgan asks him. It was then that the human realized that he was indeed incredibly hungry. "Yeah, sure!" He said. Morgan went ahead and gave the sandwich to him, since he didn't have any hands of course. They gave him a second sandwich soon after that. "You are gonna h-have to start catching your own food, yaknow. I c-can only carry so many sandwiches at a time." They winked at him, to let him know that it was indeed a joke.
Endymion sticks his tongue out at Morgan and licks his chops. The human gives him a third sandwich before finally grabbing one for theirself. What should they use today? The Net? The Fishing Pole?

They ate in peace this time. Perhaps a little too much in peace. Morgan wasn't sure if the fish were going to bite as well today, but then again, they were here to spend time with Endymion, not really to catch every fish in the river. After eating, Morgan packed away their picnic things, and considered what else that Endymion needed to work on. They both had dessert (various fruits, this time, chilled) and chatted back and forth about nothing in particular. Soon though, it was time to stop wasting time, and get around to trying to catch something or another. The human decided to ready up the pole again. It would take more time, but they weren't sure if there would be anything of interest out there with the nets, or if the pole would do better. They really did not know as much about fishing as they did about say, technology.

"Welp Endymion." Morgan started. "I reckon I'll be u-using the pole for a while again today, unless there don't wind up being many bites." They reached for the pole and picked it up. They'd of course unstrung the last hook to make sure that it wouldn't get hooked unfortunately into things while they were at home, so it was time to string up another of the cheapo hooks that weren't all that great. The one that had wound up in the mouth of that fish they brought home last time, the whipper... thinger, had been busted up beyond all recognition before Morgan had even snipped it with the wire cutters to remove the hook from the creature's jaw. They began stringing the hook. Endymion finally clears his throat, and asks- "What else do I need to learn?" He says, eagerly. He didn't really like waiting to know information, did he?

Morgan hummed for a minute. They did have an list of things to teach him that they were not even near to finished with yet (though they guessed the list for his hatchling years was nearly completed). What would be a good thing for him to start with now? There were maybe four things left, and one of them was indeed something that was going to take more than a fishing afternoon to teach. "How about... Pouncing?" Morgan asks. Endymion tilts his head quizzically and then asks a question- "Pouncing, like jumping?" He asks.
"Yeah, kinda like jumping." Morgan said. They finally got the cheap hook put onto the line tied. "But you're trying to put your full weight into it, like an attack." They explained.
Endymion blinked. "Like an attack!?" He seemed more excited and surprised than fearful or anxious.

Morgan chuckled at him, reeling in the line at the same time to make sure that they would have it all ready to toss into the river whenever they were done explaining the process to Endymion. "Yeah, it's ex-exactly like an attack." They spun around quietly, and looked at him fully. "So, show me what you've got. Try it out a bit. We'll use ah, this as a cue whistle." Morgan uses their off hand to pick up the whistle from around their neck, and then put it to their mouth. They picked a nice tone out for it. Endymion nods, and then bends his front half down, kinda half-hopping front half to back half, his butt wiggling in the air. The human tried not to chuckle at the hilarious attempt, and then shook their head. "We've got to work on that technique." They were considering how to do that properly.

The concern that Morgan had was that little Endymion's body was not really built like a houluh's or even a tat-lung's, so they weren't entirely sure how he needed to move to get the best pouncing action. Finally, Morgan puts down the pole for a second in order to get up and go over to him. They give him a thoughtful once over, and then pointed at his hind legs. "These are where y-your real power is. You're gonna h-have to use your front limbs as more of a weight-related thing in the pounce. Use your back legs more forcefully." Then, they considered for a moment. "Aha- you know h-how you leap and all? Leap, and put your weight a little more on the front." The human nods. Endymion looks over himself, and then begins testing shifting his weight from front to back to front again.

Morgan kept an eye on him as they picked the pole back up and stepped up in their rubber boots to the edge of where the water was. It was still running pretty fast, but it was very obvious that the dry season was coming up. Would they go fishing during the dry season? The water would probably be less dangerous, in some ways, but maybe more dangerous in others. It would be quite muddy, making it hard to see stuff. They were already planning another mining trip soon enough, so maybe after that mining trip.
Endymion does a few practice hops, doing a little better now, but still not putting the force behind it that would be necessary. It would really help if Morgan knew what his body type was going to wind up being like, so that they could give him better advice. For now, they were going to let him figure it out.

The next hour or so was really boring. Morgan would throw out the hook, and then reel it in, and throw it out, and reel back in the line. The water was certainly beginning to change, though not completely. Was it a little lower than the other day? Morgan had a long time to think about it. During this hour, Endymion had started with the hopping he had been doing earlier, to figuring out how to really spring a good distance. Then, he began being able to put his weight towards the front of his body a little bit better. Morgan had paid attention to him as well, making sure to note his progress and to give him compliments when he was going the right direction. Everything was calm and going well, though it was going to take a lot more work. Another thirty minutes passes before Morgan is sure that Endymion is ready to go through the second part of the lesson.
