Endymion noticed pretty quickly that he wasn't going to be able to dodge them by looking at them anymore, so he closed his eyes entirely. Now that he couldn't see at all, he began anticipating when the little paper balls were going to hit his hide, and he did the very best that he could. At first, he got hit by quite a few of them. But soon enough, he found that he was able to tell when he was about to get hit before he did. He dodged the stinging paper balls really easily after that, with a finesse that showed his capabilities of leaping. Morgan could not see him, but they could sort of... Feel him, and they could feel that he wasn't getting struck by the paper balls anymore. Finally, after exhausting all of the pellets in their hand, they fist pumped. "YES! You got it, Endymion!" Morgan was excited.

The training for that specific skill was always incredibly intensive. Morgan patted Endymion reassuringly after, and then they considered what else they should work on. "I do fully intend on teaching you to read, e-eventually." Morgan said. "But today I think we should w-work on some of your more physical skills. I don't want you to accidentally be hurt, if I can help it." Morgan felt vulnerable if any of their beloved family members couldn't defend theirself. Morgan pretty much could defend theirself, but what would happen if any of their family members were out on their own, and couldn't do it? "The next thing I think would be good to teach you, is that thundrous noise you can make. Ruh-remember the other day?" Morgan was hearkening back to Endymion's attempt at 'laughter', which had been loud and ear-splitting.
"Yeah, I uh, can't control it, though." He said, sheepishly.

Morgan couldn't see in the dark, still, but they were getting used to the strange vulnerable feeling they had about it. Endymion, on the other hand. "Let me know if you start b-being able to see with good clarity, or with a bit of color, willya?" Morgan says to him. Endymion nods, though Morgan is sure that when he starts being able to do that, he will not probably notice it at all, since it should be a gradual change. "Alright, so, the thunder thing. I think we should start using a whistle as the cue for these kind of things, s-so that you can hear me provided I'm on your back." They reasoned. Endymion nods, and then, remembering that Morgan couldn't see, answers- "Okay."
Morgan pulled the whistle from beneath their shirt where it hung on a chain, and used the 'command' they used for loud interrupt noises.

"That's gonna be the cue. Feel like you have i-it memorized?" Morgan asked. Endymion nods, and then answers- "Yeah." At that, Morgan gives the cue whistle again, and Endymion readies himself for his best noise. When he opens his maw, a strange little mewl comes out. Morgan busts out laughing at the strangled noise and the way that it bounced off of all of the walls. "Oh my gawsh Endymion, that was terrible." Morgan jokes with him.
Endymion looks a little embarrassed, and Morgan can feel it despite being unable to see it. For some reason, this didn't scare them at all. "Okay, try it without the cue a few times, okay?" Endymion nods, and then belts out another few strangeled mews.
"Maybe... It isn't your voice? ... Huh, think about storms! Think about anger! Try it!" Morgan says.
Endymion just looks concerned, and makes another strange little noise.

"M-maybe that isn't it then..." What would have caused the noise, huh? The human wracked their ideas on it for a while, and then finally got an idea. "Conviction. It is conviction, Endymion!" It was like a breakthrough, for Morgan. "It has nothing to do with the strength of emotion, i-it has everything to do with how strongly you believe in it. C-come on, try it." Morgan said. Their emotions, running high today it would seem, were infectious. The not quite very confident Endymion feels Morgan's confidence and borrows it a bit.
"Okay." He said, voice more confident.
Morgan used the whistled cue they had decided on for the thundrous noise, and Endymion rears up, and produces a loud CRACK of what sounded just like thunder.
Which was probably not the best idea in a mining shaft, but the walls were thankfully reinforced.

The noise was sharp and painful and reverberated and echoed down the hallway of the dark part of the mines, and Morgan clasped their hands over their ears and immediately regretted the entire thing. After the noise was finally gone, and Morgan's ears didn't feel like they were bleeding, the human quietly nodded. "O-okay." They breathed out. "That was a little... Extreme. But we've got it... Maybe we can practice it a little quieter now?" Morgan said, grinning.
At that, Endymion excitedly says something. Morgan can't quite hear what it is. "What?" They said.
"My eyesight!" He said. "I can see everything clearly!" He seems very proud. "Well, that is great. Any color?"
"Only a little..." He said, sheepishly.
"I wasn't expecting any at all, great job!" Morgan said. "N-now, back to the thunder thing."

Morgan was both surprised at how long it took for him to be able to see in the darkness of the cave, and amazed at how short the wait was. Morgan had never worked on anything learning this before, so they were pretty surprised both ways, really. Still, they needed to get to work on the whole thunder thing, since he could make it. Stopping enemies in their tracks with a loud noise was always a good idea. They got to work on it right away, and with his confidence intact, Endymion was a natural at this, it seemed.
Endymion made sure to make the thunder noise more quiet, now that they knew that he could do it. They were mostly practicing him doing it on the cue whistle, anyway. After about thirty minutes of practice, they finally felt like they had gotten his thundering noise down pat- but Morgan was sure that he could do more.

Morgan was sure that there were at least a couple more things they could tackle today. The pair took another water break, and settled down for lunch. Morgan hadn't really found much of anything yet, but they were actually down here to hang out with Endymion by themselves for a day, instead of really to find anything too special. However, they were planning on ending off this trip today, after all of the work, with some actual mining and searching, to better cement their bond. The human wasn't entirely sure how much time they would have before Endymion would grow up, and they wanted to get as much work in with him as possible in the meantime.
It would be a shame if he grew up not knowing a single thing, wouldn't it? At least he could get his own food now, if Morgan was held up in the Labs City at work.

As they were eating, Morgan decides to talk with Endymion about the rest of their training regimen. "I'd like to get you to w-where when you grow up, you can defend yourself. Not a lot of bad happens in the Canyon from what I hear, but you won't always be in the Canyon. Somedays, I'd like you to come with me to visit the City again." Morgan says, conversationally, before they take a bite out of their cold burger and fries. Endymion is eating some food out of a bowl that Morgan had brought- some leftover roast. He smiles excitedly at Morgan, and the human realizes that they could not see it.
They quickly turn the flashlight on, laughing at theirself for forgetting it, and then the human continues. "You know, w-we'll work on dodging again here in a bit. We need you to be able to do that on cue." They said.

Endymion eats, and nods as he does, in answer. Morgan continues. "After that, I reckon we can work on your ability to do it repeatedly. Y-you know, up your endurance a bit... But I think I want us to get back to fishing before we do that?" Morgan is considering. "Would you like to go fishing, later this evening?" They ask. They didn't want to drag him all over the planet if he didn't want to go all in one day of course.
The draconic finishes off his food, and Morgan takes another bite of their burger, and shoves two cold fries in their mouth. Endymion answers- "Of course I'd love to go!" He seemed quite happy about it.
"Then sure, we will." The human says. "I've got to do some searching around here, and we'll work on your dodging, and then we'll see what else."

After they were done eating, Morgan went ahead and put all of the trash away in little baggies they had brought just for the purpose. The cold burger had been really dry on the way down, but it was a leftover item that they had decided they were going to eat today to save time. Then, Morgan grabbed the little canister of paper pellets again, and the whistle. "We'll have to pick another w-whistled cue for the dodging thing, I think I'll use the one I always do, okay?" Morgan wanted to affirm. Endymion nodded, and finally, Morgan saw it in the light. "This will be our cue whistle." At that, Morgan used the cue they always used for 'dash'. Endymion listens for it, and then nods. "You got it?" He nodded again. Morgan had just wanted to make sure.
Then, they used it again, sounding off down the lit shaft, and tossed a pellet at him at the same time.

Endymion was pretty good at the danger-dodging thing, at this point, or at least he had thought that he was. He was not expecting to start this soon, however. He pushed off of the rock at the very last second, making a very not graceful dodge out of the way of it. Morgan scarcely let him land on his tiptoes before they gave the whistle again and threw another of the pellets at him. He stumbles a bit, but barely ducks in time to dodge out of the way of it before 'dashing' again. "That's it, y-you are trying to sort of quickly run out of the way, not leap. K-keep going." Morgan encouraged. Endymion found time to catch his footing this time before Morgan gave the whistled cue again and then threw yet another of the pellets at him. He dashed out of the way, struggling not to bound like a deer as he did so.

Morgan did note that his natural movements were quite spry. It was actually amazing to watch him- though he was still pretty gangly and out of sorts due to his growth. Morgan hardly let him touch back down before they gave the whistled command again and threw two of the pellets, instead. Endymion takes off running down the hallway, and nearly runs into a support beam. Morgan stifles a laugh, and then does a whistled cue again and then threw some more pellets at him. At this point, nearly the entire hallway was covered in pellets. They would biodegrade, but Morgan knew that they were going to have to pick them up, or at least most of them.
They took a break in order to pick up most of them, and they put them in a small pile to use. After that, the pair started working on the dodging thing again.

After thirty minutes of working on it, Endymion was doing just okay with it. He hadn't gotten much better since the first bit of progress he made, but Morgan wasn't upset. Sometimes, things took some extra time to work on. Morgan decided to change their approach with it to try to help him. They moved back to the main mine shaft with all of the lights. It was much wider, so Morgan hoped that Endymion would have more room to dash. This break and the move to a more open area really helped, and now whenever Morgan used the cue for Endymion to dash away, he was focusing more on doing it as soon as the cue was given, and less worried about running into walls. Morgan felt a little bad that they hadn't gotten past the first bit. Soon enough, Endymion was reacting quickly, and dashing away from the biodegradable pellets.
