The koguma looks from your face to the pomegranate... and back again. And again. It appears to have lost the ability to move anything other than its eyes. Eventually, though, it takes a teetering step forward, arms outstretched to receive the fruit. Gently does it, now...

Kadin kept perfectly still as the koguma seemed to unfreeze and finally approach him. He didn't want to fuck this one up and scare the thing away when all he wanted to do was befriend it. He watched carefully as it reached out for the fruit and focused on keeping his hand steady so that it wouldn't get spooked again. There really wasn't anything else to do but stand perfectly still and maybe even try to talk to it in a soothing voice... hopefully that would work.
"It's alright, easy does it." He said, trying to be encouraging. "I'm not going to take this from you if you want it, we can be friends here." Provided it didn't turn violent and try to kill him. Here's hoping!
The houluh watched this all with alert eyes and a tilted head, not really sure what was going on but perfectly content to watch it happen regardless.

At last, the koguma comes in contact with the fruit. It is painfully gentle as it accepts the pomegranate from you, still watching with nervous eyes... but when it is able to take it without incident, it chitters with pleasure. Hooray! Perhaps you can be buddies after all. [Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!] You might want to take this wheat, too.

Well, that was a lot more stressful than it should have been. Kadin was hugely relieved when the creature finally accepted the fruit and seemed pretty damn pleased about it, too. He let out a sigh of relief and smiled at the creature, still being careful around it as he made sure that it was comfortable being around him before doing anything else. Once that all seemed to be ok, he led the creature over to a different part of the gardens so that it could get settled in to his neck of the woods and feel safe. Now that that was all over with and everything he needed was gathered up, Kadin could go back to exploring with the puppy.
The houluh had taken this all as extremely entertaining. It bound along behind Kadin while all of this was happening and was more than happy to continue their walk afterwards.

It really liked all of this exploring and the interesting things that they were finding! There was so much to do around here and he could do it with Kadin! It was super happy to have all of this attention all to himself, especially since it rarely got so much attention when they were in the kennels because there were so many other houluh around! And Kadin seemed more than happy to indulge him while they were there, searching for a cat. Or something. Whatever they'd set out for.
Kadin still hadn't forgotten his quest, after all, to try and seek out one of those creatures that had been advertised around. He was going to do his best to find the ones he was looking for, even if it proved to be a difficult task. He led the houluh off on a new path to search a different part of the gardens.

They needed to cover more ground if he wanted a good chance of finding anything out here. And honestly? Even if he only found more garden pets it wasn't like this was a venture not worth having. Either way he'd end up being happy, even if it meant that he was wandering around out here for hours. He should probably bring another project out here to do while he was searching, otherwise it would just be a bunch of wandering around an turning over sticks until something finally turned up. Not that that was a bad thing either!
Regardless of what happened, the houluh was going to be happy regardless. It just liked following Kadin around and listening to whatever was going on in the gardens. In fact, it would have been more than happy to start chasing any of the random things it was smelling out here, too, if given the chance.

There were just so many things to smell and follow out here out of the kennels! And the houluh was more than happy to follow its nose all over the place! It wouldn't get that chance, of course, since Kadin had it on a leash, but the thought remained. It kept tugging on the leash now and then, looking this way and that whenever it smelled something new and interesting that it might want to go after. Maybe Kadin would let him free to do so at some point too!
Although that didn't seem too likely. Kadin seemed to have his own path that he was leading them on, bringing them through the weeds and trees in search of something neither of them could really name at the moment. They kept continuing on that meandering path, continuing at an easy pace that the houluh seemed a bit restricted by all the same.

Not that Kadin was paying much mind to that. He was leading this adventure and was making that pretty clear to the houluh as he lead it along, bringing it with him on their walk. He didn't seem to have any particular destination in mind, but they sure were still going to it despite the seemingly random path. It was fine either way, no rush or worries when it came to heading towards wherever Kadin was taking them to. When there was no sign of where they needed to go in the first place, it didn't truly matter if he just started some random search grid.
And regardless of what was going on, the houluh was entertained, and that seemed like it was all that mattered to Kadin for the most part. He wasn't working too hard on anything but searching and leading the houluh around, who was more than happy to follow.

It really was easy when houluh were so happy to wander around with their person no matter what was happening. It made them an easy creature to raise, that was for sure, even if they were tough to get championships in the arena in the end. Kadin would keep working at it and doing his best to make sure that they achieved everything he wanted them to achieve. Even if it meant just wandering around in a random garden with them for a while simply because they needed some more bonding time. Kadin wouldn't even be able to say what was more important in this quest of his, spending time with his houluh or looking for that cat. Regardless, he hoped that he'd be able to accomplish both. Especially catching sight of one of those cats he wanted to grab and tame. So he continued on, searching for the pet he wanted to find. Number Tracking: 15

There was something else there in the bushes that watched them- a careful gaze and crouched limbs, the Mosca creeps in a playful manner; It must have a full belly to be so lackadaisical with its tail flicking back and fourth and its less-than-careful steps around the foliage. A predatory gleam in its eye, it blinks languidly- in no hurry to approach the small (potentially tasteful) pup and the taller being.

After successfully tracking down the mosca, Kadin decided it was time to switch things up a little bit. He took everything he had back home and came back with more houluh, all of them in various stages of training at this point. He needed to work with Tex and Pepper especially in this case. He'd tried to teach them herd in the past, but he still needed to tighten up a few things for them. This time Jude would be able to take a bit of a side section while he focused on a little bit of training. Maybe even Jude would be able to find something for himself while all of this was going on!
For this training in particular, Kadin had a couple of poles up to try and teach the houluh to go to a certain location. He left Jude solo this time to do what he wanted while Tex and Pepper were kept on a leash. He started off this trick by bringing them over to the poles and offering them treats. He stood there with them standing on the leash, tied to the pole so that his hands would be freed up to hand them treats. The houluh were, of course, extremely engaged to be offered treats while all they needed to do was just stand there. He took his time to keep them to the one spot, giving them treats every time they settled, sat, laid down, or otherwise seemed interested in the pole for them.

Jude, meanwhile, was free to do whatever the heck he wanted to do. The houluh ran off to explore while the other two were standing there by the pole. Sure, they were getting treats, so he was pretty jealous about that, but there was so much stuff to sniff out here! So many creatures like to wander around in nature and pass through the gardens. Jude was more than excited to explore around, wandering all over the place while he tried to figure out what he wanted to do with all of this new freedom!
Meanwhile, Kadin continued on trying to train this trick. Kadin continued feeding the houluh at the pole, giving them a treat as long as they were staying near it or moving closer to it. He continued giving them more treats, building up their engagement with the pole. Then he started to introduce a word to teach them what this location meant. "There!" Kadin said, then gave them treats. "There!" He said again, encouraging them to stay near the pole or go to it on the word "there". He continued the same thing, just like before, offering the word "there" and giving them treats as long as they stayed near the pole or moved towards it at all. He continued repeating this for a while longer, continuing to say "there" and offering them the treat for going near or staying near the pole. He kept going with that, repeating over and over again, to get them acclimated to the word and staying near the pole.

Jude quickly wandered over to the spot where Kadin had apparently found a mosca, sniffing around at it curiously. It could smell that there had been a cat around here and it wanted to chase it really bad! But they had already found the cat before and now it wasn't here anymore because they had brought it back home.... But it still wanted to chase it! But it didn't have any chance to... So instead it sniffed at the spot some more and even peed on it a bit just to be thorough!
Now that they were associated with the word and the spot, Kadin untied the leashes from the pole. He kept them on their leashes all the same, but they weren't beholden to the spot anymore. Luckily treats did seem to work for a charm. Kadin continued to offer them treats when they went near or settled by the pole and also responded to the word "there" to go to the pole. He continued the same thing he had done last time, still staying near the pole, saying "there", and offered them a treat when they went to the pole. He kept going, telling them "there", and giving them treats when they moved near the pole during the command word. He kept repeating the same thing over and over again. Honestly it seemed as if they hadn't even noticed that they were untied at all, they just kept staying by the pole and getting treats when Kadin said "there".

He really needed to find something else fun to do! He wandered around, spiraling around from the point he had been searching at, trying to see if he could figure out where the mosca had come from. He wanted to see if he could find more or if it had a friend somewhere! That would be fun! It wanted to find something to play with while the other houluh were busy! He wanted to be able to do something and find something and have a ton of fun! It would be great!
After the bit more of training, Kadin started stepping away from the pole. He only took one step away and then instructed the houluh, "There!" They were a bit confused about this since he'd been standing near the pole until now so they weren't sure if he wanted them to stay with him or go to the pole. Tex stayed by him and sat down, hoping to get a treat. Pepper tried the same at first, but Kadin kept waiting, so she made a start at heading closer to the pole. Kadin went ahead and rewarded her for that since it was closer to what he wanted to see. That was basically all he needed to get them catching on more quickly. He repeated the process, stepping away and saying "there!" and waiting for the houluh to go to the pole. Tex picked it up this time, too, heading over to the pole. Pepper did, too, after a second, and then they both got a treat for it.

Jude continued wandering around, sniffing out everywhere he could find mosca scent. Of course, he wasn't that good a tracker, so he eventually had trouble finding it anymore at all. With a whine he ran around in circles, trying to find the scent that he had lost again, but he was having a hard time trying to find it. It was so difficult! He circled around more and more, trying to get the scent again, but it had disappeared!
So he continued that say training a few more times. Taking a step away, saying "there!", waiting until they went to the pole, then rewarded. He repeated it several more times until they got it down each time. Then he did two steps away, then three. He continued repeating the same thing, only moving away slowly, since he wanted them to get the location down quickly, to always go to the pole. At around five feet they seemed like they were getting confused again so he started getting closer to the pole again. He started again from one foot, then stepped up again until they could get past five feet and returning to the pole when he said "there!" He repeated the process, keeping stepping further and further away, until he could go as far as twenty steps away and say "there!" and the houluh would be able to go to the pole, the location he'd marked out for them. He kept up this practice until they were reliably going back to the location each time.
