The sounds of training are something different- far more resolute than the quiet steps of a predator, or the skittish catch of branches on a running prey. Light clicking consistently echoed nearby, the hollow eyes of a wooden mask peeking in and around the dense foliage just off the trail. Curious! These weren't the noises of animals, but of something else- the drej, with its clicking leading the way, steps in a skittering manner, closer and closer to the area where the noises originated from...

Since not much was going on in the gardens Kadin took a bit of a break in order to take some time off. He went with one of his houluh for a small adventure and now he was back. He'd found a drej and now he figured that it would be a good time to look for more pets in the gardens while he was down here. He wandered around in the gardens, bringing his houluh and the sarane again. He wanted to get them all plenty of experience so that he would be able to take care of them later on and they would also be able to take care of themselves. He wasn't super worried about them getting along at this point. Not any of them except the sarane really. Sarane could never be trusted around other creatures when it came to this, they were known for eating whatever they could catch. So Kadin was making sure to keep the sarane away from the houluh so that it wouldn't go after anything else. The houluh seemed to sense that it was a good idea to stay away from the sarane so it was good that they were staying away from it. It was for the best for all of them if they were able to keep apart and work like this so that they would all get along like this because if they didn't Kadin didn't want to think about what might happen if they got into each other.

Kadin carried the sarane around but the sarane wasn't happy about being carried around. It growling and grumbled to itself but Kadin didn't let it down even though it wanted to be let down. It wiggled and tried to claw but Kadin was too experienced in holding on to the sarane by now for it to be able to get away from him. He thought about having it on a leash and holding on to it that way, but he was worried about how skinny and delicate their necks are. He didn't want to risk it trying to chase one of the houluh and hurting itself because of that. So instead Kadin was stuck just holding on to the sarane while the houluh were with them because they needed to make sure that the houluh were all safe. So they were just stuck like this, continuing to wander around with Kadin trying to hold onto the sarane so that it wouldn't be able to go after any of the houluh. Kadin wandered further, following the houluh, as he continued to hold on to the sarane. There wasn't much else he could do while he was trying to keep everyone safe so he just kept holding on while they wandered around. Kadin felt like he should find a better solution for all of this, but at the end of all of this he could only do what he could do with he had. He wanted to keep everyone safe so here he was.

The houluh, as usually, seemed to be getting their kicks off with chasing whatever random smells they could smell around here. Faline especially was renewed with a vengeance. She wanted to go everywhere and do everything and seemed even more and more energetic than before. It was hard to believe that a runner had just been tiring her out not that long ago, but now she was so full of energy now. Or even it maybe even made since. Considering that she had spent all that energy and now she had her rest so she was even more full of energy yet again. Kadin didn't know who her parents were but he was pretty sure that the must have been pretty high energy creatures if she was able to go like this. The other houluh he'd brought with him could barely keep up! Kadin watched as the two of them chased each others tails, going all over the place with Faline in the happy lead, more than happy to lead the other one around on a wild goose chase. It was fun to watch them, even if if got the sarane got all worked up, but Kadin wasn't going to complain about it at all while he was watching all of this happen. He wanted to see if the houluh would actually find anything while they went around like this, but it seemed like they didn't have any particular destination in mind. Kadin just watched while they went around as they were.

He wondered if putting down the drake would still cause it to go after the houluh. He decided to watch the young drake to see if anything it was doing made him nervous about any of this. He watched as the sarane watched the houluh. He wasn't really a fan of this, seeing as the sarane's eyes were tracking the houluh the whole time. It was leaning towards them, too, making him worried that it would want to go after them if it was able to. He really didn't want to risk any of that happening. If the houluh were hurt he wouldn't know what to do with himself about it. He needed to keep them all safe and if the sarane was fixated on the houluh as if it was going to hurt them or try to hunt them he didn't want to risk putting the sarane down and letting that happen. He just needed to accept that he would need to keep them all separate and safe by doing this and keeping them all separate. He didn't like it, especially since he wanted the sarane to be able to get some energy out, but he didn't have to like it. It was his responsibility to keep them all safe and he wasn't going to risk anyone's safety to keep them together when he was pretty sure that they woudln't be able to be together safely. So instead he would just be stuck like this the whole time, holding on to the sarane.

Kadin didn't have a whole lot to say about the gardens, usually, but it certainly couldn't be said that they were dull. He was tracking and watching his houluh running around when, all of a sudden, he noticed a creature cowering off to the side, as if trying to stay out of their way. Kadin paused and stared at it for a moment, surprised, but then he realized that, yes, this was a creature that he actually didn't own yet and, yes, this is a creature that he should probably save from the apparent terror that was his houluh. Kadin quickly called for the houluh to come away from the creature, calling them back over to him and by his side so that they weren't bothering the koguma anymore.
Once they were out of the way and no longer out being a huge terror, Kadin carefully edged towards the koguma himself. It looked skittish, almost like it would bolt given the opportunity, and Kadin didn't want to let that happen. He carefully grabbed some treats he always kept on and and also some fruit that he had from wandering the gardens this long, tossing them over to the koguma to try to tempt it away from hiding like this. It probably didn't help that he still had a sarane in his arms, but having the sarane in his arms would probably help a whole lot better than letting the sarane run around free on the ground. The small creature hissed in his arms.

The koguma seemed like it wanted to treats that he'd tossed, but it was still too scared to get closer and actually take them. Kadin backed away even more, keeping the houluh behind himself as they all backed up. This let the koguma relax a little bit more. It was shaking so much he could hear some leaves rattling on it, but the call of food eventually won out. It inched closer to inspect the treats and the fruit, poking at them with its arms cautiously before snatching them up, eyes on Kadin all the while.
"Good!" He said, trying to be encouraging. "Good job, that's good." He tossed a few more treats towards it and fruit, trying to tempt it into calming down even more. The koguma quickly snatched up more of the food, placing some of it on its body to carry and hold onto for later. Kadin managed to move a little closer, watching as the koguma slowly started to relax in his presence.
The houluh seemed to want to move forward and get involved with what was happening, but Kadin asked them to stay back and so they did. The koguma twitched as the houluh got closer, but relaxed again when it saw that it was only Kadin after all. It was quickly associating him with good things, what with all the food he was offering it. He just needed to keep working at this same thing in order to be able to win this one over.

Kadin continued trying the same thing, tossing a little more food and then moving closer and closer the more it was able to relax. Kadin smiled a bit as the koguma actually seemed to let him get close enough to nearly touch. He sat down near the creature, not trying to actually touch it with everything that was going on, it was much too soon. He carefully continued to feed it more treats, winning it over with each piece of food that he offered it. Kadin relaxed as the koguma relaxed.
Even the houluh seemed to be relaxing more, staying away as Kadin had requested. He was grateful that he had some good dogs with good temperaments this time, it would be a lot harder to control them if he didn't have that going for him. The sarane wasn't helping things, glaring at everything that was nearby with murder in its eyes, but since it was restricted to Kadin's arms it couldn't do a whole lot about it, which Kadin was grateful for.
He offered some more food, this time not dropping it first, as he continued to try to win over the koguma. It even started to accept things from his very hand as it managed to relax more, although it was very careful to avoid getting too close to the sarane the he was still holding. It didn't want to get close to any of the pets, but Kadin was acceptable so far. Kadin was hopeful that he'd be able to convince it to stay with him.

The koguma was scared at first, but it can see now that you're nothing to be feared. If you're here to give it food, then it won't complain! It'll stick around in the hopes this will continue...
[Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!]

Now that the koguma was more comfortable with him, Kadin was able to move back on to taking care of his other creatures. He let the houluh release from their commands, freeing them up to go running around again. He didn't want to keep them confined any longer, he wanted them to be able to be free and run around all they wanted to. So he wouldn't restrict them for now, especially since he was planning on letting the sarane get some training soon, so he needed to let the houluh get their energy out now before he needed to put them some place where they wouldn't be as distracting while he was doing his training. He'd let them have this short break for a little while and then he'd get focused on some training. The houluh certainly seemed to be taking advantage of the freedom. Now that he wasn't making them stay still anymore, they started running all over the place, more than happy to act like the crazy puppies that they were now that they weren't held down by anything anymore. They really wanted to run around and have fun! Kadin kept the sarane in his arms, however, because he still didn't quite trust it not to go after the houluh if he let them go. It squirmed and tried to get out of his arms, wanting to chase after the houluh and probably try to bite them and catch them, but Kadin kept it wrapped up in his arms.

The sarane wasn't happy about this at all. It wanted to get out and chase something so badly! It increased its struggling, but Kadin only kept it in his arms, keeping its wings closed so that it couldn't properly get them free to really flap around with. Kadin wasn't going to let it go at all, he was going to make sure that it remained in his arms no matter what it felt like at all. Kadin wanted to keep the houluh safe and if he didn't do that he might as well just let all of his pets go and not take care of them anymore. The sarane still tried to snap, though, trying its best to get away, but there didn't seem to be much point to it at all. Kadin was keeping it contained. Eventually it had to give up the point, flopping in Kadin's arms as if it were dead and gave up all will to fight in its life. Kadin couldn't help but chuckle at this, although he tried to keep the sarane from telling that he was laughing at it. The last thing he wanted was for it to try biting at him again. Instead they went ahead and watched the houluh run around, playing with each other while they were running through the gardens. They wanted to just play and wrestle, it seemed like, which made Kadin happy to keep the sarane out of. It would be much too easy for this to get out of hand.

Kadin went ahead and got the houluh sorted out. He left them off somewhere where they wouldn't get away, but also wouldn't run around like crazy and get the sarane too worked up that it might try to attack them. He wanted to make them safe and that was the most important thing to him, after all, not wanting to risk any of his creatures getting in trouble.
Once they were sorted, Kadin put the sarane down and put a toy in front of it. He was going to try training it the same way he'd trained the other sarane, too. This one was easier to figure out at least. He saw that it wanted to go after the houluh, even though he'd tried to put them somewhere safe, so it put the toy in front of it so that once it started charging in that direction, the sarane slammed right into it. "Good bash!" Kadin said quickly, stuffing treats in the sarane's face so that it would go after that instead of the houluh. The sarane was easily distracted by the treats, at least, and ate them up quickly, soon looking around for more once they were gone. When it didn't see any, it tried to go in the direction of the houluh again, but Kadin quickly had the toy in front of it so that it ran right into it yet again. "Good bash!" Kadin said quickly, stuffing even more treats in the sarane's face to further direct it once more.

Kadin kept up the same thing he was doing, trying to get the young sarane used to the word he needed to follow and bashing the toy whenever it tried to go for the houluh. He hoped that, eventually, it would be more interested in doing the command and getting treats than going after the houluh. He didn't want it to try and test out this move on the houluh at all. He kept holding the toy in front of the sarane whenever it tried to run off towards the houluh, then he would give it praise and treats when it successfully hit the toy. After a while of practicing this, Kadin noticed that it was starting to be more interested in him than the houluh. He started holding the toy off to the side, while still blocking the sarane from the houluh with his body. "Bash!" He encouraged. The sarane seemed to think about going after the houluh for a bit, but whenever it ran into the toy it got treats... It tried to make a break for the houluh, but Kadin held the toy in front of it so it couldn't get there and stuffed more treats into its mouth. "Bash!" He encouraged, trying to get it to attack that, not the houluh.
The houluh, meanwhile, were just minding their own damn business. Kadin had them in a little pen, away from him and the sarane, so that they could play with each other and not worry about anything.

Kadin continued working with the sarane, going back to what he'd done before, until he felt confident again in that it would attack the toy and not make a break for the houluh. He held the toy a bit to the side, using the 'bash' command again. This time the sarane looked past him, over at the houluh, for a long moment. But then it threw itself at the toy, growling angrily, hoping for more treats. It seems that the treats had finally won it over. Kadin stuffed a ton of treats into its face, more than it had even done before, trying to praise it as much as possible. "Good! Good bash!" He encouraged. He went back to practicing just that, trying to use the toy and treats to keep the sarane's attention until it wasn't even turned towards the houluh at all. He was able to get the sarane to follow after the toy, throwing itself at the toy instead of trying to slip past Kadin to get to the houluh. "Good! Bash, good bash!" He kept encouraging, trying to keep the sarane focused on the toy and the treats. He held it up again, continuing to practice this with it, wanting to make sure that it really got down tracking the toy and not the houluh.
The houluh were wrestling at this point, having a great time in the kennel and more happy than anything, not knowing at all what was going on over there. And that the sarane wanted them.
