Sarabi was already working on the next vein as Renathan finished the aventurine, putting it into the pouch. Renathan leaned forward, squinting to see what the vein even looked like, and he suddenly realized that it was jade, again. This one was a soapy green color, and he was glad that it wasn't the purple ones. He really hated the purple ones, but he wasn't big on the green ones either. Honestly, he wasn't big on jade at all. Renathan had hoped that they wouldn't find much more of that. They didn't really sell very well either, or for very much, but he figured that he might as well take it home anyway if the Gargoyle was going to remove it from the wall. The mammalian stayed quiet as the Gargoyle worked, yet again. His body was so tired, but he needed to get up soon and work very hard to try to catch up to the gargoyle.

Renathan stood up as soon as the gargoyle finished the jade, removing it from the wall without too many issues. He was tired, but he wanted to keep on working, himself. He grabbed the jade gently, and then began to remove it from the carrier stone, just as he had with the aventurine before. Renathan finished pulling the jade out, happy that everything seemed to be going well so far, even though he was being a little picky about it. He was lucky that he had found enough gems that he could even be picky! Renathan watched as Sarabi picked another vein to begin working on; this time another Aventurine. Wow, that was a lot of aventurine! He hoped that the creature would pull out another nice big chunk of that! He turned around himself, and then immediately realized that he had been resting his back on a vein of metal! That was awesome!

Renathan looked closer at the metal, and realized very quickly from the blue color that it was the so-called sky metal. He really liked that color, and he hadn't found any himself before! That was awesome, this was such a lucky find! Renathan pulled back the pickaxe and began chipping around the metal, removing the stone so that he could excise the metal. Sarabi worked behind him with her claws, undoubtedly working quite skillfully to remove an aventurine from the wall a bit away from him. Between the two of them, they had already began to make this area much less mineral dense, though he was sure that they were missing quite a bit of it. Perhaps he would have to come here again, in the future, to continue working on it! Renathan was stoked about this area, it was really mineral rich, despite the fact that it was a bit dangerous and also making him super tired.

Renathan has to take a lot longer to remove the metal from the wall properly than Sarabi has to to remove the aventurine. This was due to many different factors; for one the mining familiar was so much more skilled at this; she was born for this. Her claws were perfect for it, shaped specifically for the area, and her mind was quite sharp. All of the gargoyle's desires in the world were to dig gems out of the walls; Renathan was a lot different. Gems were a lot easier to pull out of the walls than metals were, after all. Renathan was a lot weaker due to being tired, and also not quite as motivated as she was. He was looking for fire crystals for Jack, after all. Renathan knew that Sarabi removed the aventurine, and then she nosed it into his off-palm. Renathan would have to take a break to clean the aventurine off.

Renathan did so, putting the pickaxe down and leaning it against the wall so that he could begin cleaning the aventurine off with his smaller mining tools. It was important for him to do this, so that he didn't have to worry about it later. It also gave him a chance to get his arms some rest, too. Renathan began cleaning the mess off of the aventurine; this one was definitely not as good of a specimen as the last one; he had to make it smaller to remove a bit of an imperfection in the stone... That was sad. He wasn't too big on losing rock in order to clean it up, if he didn't have to. Renathan finally finished with the Aventurine, and he put the cleaned stone in his pouch again. He went to pick up the pick-axe again and keep working on the sky-metal, and took a good glance at the vein that the Gargoyle was working on now.

This time, the vein was a banded green and black; Renathan knew that it was a malachite vein. That was a pretty stone; he was excited to be able to add some to his collection, as long as it was not too flawed to be used, of course. He'd quite forgotten that sometimes stones were too flawed to use, he'd been so lucky so far that the stones had been perfectly usable, even though he didn't really like most of the colors. Renathan then turned to the sky metal, knowing that a few more good hits would knock it out of the wall so that he could keep it. He was excited to be able to get some more metal, metals were very hard to come by, after all! The gargoyle was making quick work out of the wall on her end, still quite a bit better than Renathan was on his. However, Renathan was determined.

A few more good swings was all that it took, and both Renathan and the gargoyle were able to pull their respective minerals out of the wall; Renathan with the sky metal, and Sarabi with the malachite. Renathan was thoroughly exhausted, but at least he felt like he was contributing in some way. Today wound up taking a lot more hard work than Renathan had figured it would! He wasn't expecting today to be a walk in the park by any means, but he was not expecting this much mineral to be found to be dug up. Renathan put the hunk of metal directly into the mining cart, and then turned around to grab the malachite. He was going to clean the malachite off first before putting it the the pouch, though. He took up his much smaller tools and got to work, cleaning the carrier stone off of the malachite so that it was usable at home.

The malachite was looking absolutely divine after Renathan had managed to remove the carrier stone off of it; luckily it had no flaws at all for him to be concerned with. Renathan was so glad that this mining trip was going so well, he was so lucky today, he was glad he had brought Sarabi along. A long time ago, he had been really looking for a starstone, but he had never found one... Maybe today would be the day he found a starstone? He hoped so, those were so rare but really gorgeous, they were his favorite rock for sure. He really wanted to make a nice jewelry piece of of one some day... Renathan put the malachite in the pouch, really happy about the lucky find. The gargoyle was already moved on to another vein, and Renathan knew he'd have to move forward a bit to see what kind of a vein it was that she was working with.

Renathan knew that they were really looking for crystals today, specifically the fire ones- he hoped that he would eventually find one. Renathan glanced over at where the gargoyle was digging at a vein of mineral, trying to see what it was. Eventually, with a groan, he figured out that it was pyrite. He had absolutely no interest in the stinky material at all; he was just glad that she was mining it out of the wall, and not him! Renathan turned towards his wall suddenly, and realized that there was no vein past his own. Huh, he then lucked to the other side, where the Gargoyle had been digging; that side also ended after the pyrite. He looked down the lava tube and saw some more veins starting up closer to down that way. Perhaps he should move down that way? Renathan went to go collect the mining cart and his pickaxe so that he could.

Renathan moved the entire setup a little ways down the wall, that way whenever Sarabi finished with the vein of pyrite, they could move on easily enough and start walking to go find another group of veins. This had been such a great area; Renathan was so glad that they had found it. What is life without a little risk, right? He tried to convince himself that, today was good. They took a risk; the lava tube was dangerous after all, and they hadn't been attacked by a creature or anything crazy like that. They were good, there was no heat of incoming lava or anything like that. Renathan tried to calm his mind as he waited for the gargoyle to finish mining the pyrite out of the wall with her claws. Renathan breathed out. She seemed to be very used to his presence now, so that was another good thing that happened today.

Renathan was quiet as the gargoyle worked. They were really trying very hard to bring home as many of the minerals as possible, despite not specifically being here for minerals, after all. Renathan is quite glad by the time that the gargoyle finally removes the pyrite from the wall. He hated the smell of it. Renathan grabbed the pyrite and didn't even remove the carrier stone before taking all of the minerals that were in his pouch and putting them all in the mining cart instead. He turns toward the gargoyle, and gives her a quick pet and some praise; he was so used to doing this with his other creatures, and she was just doing such a good job without ever even being trained. She was just doing what came natural to her, and that was good! Mining familiars were actually super useful, weren't they? Renathan continued to walk forward, as they went deeper into the lava tube to look for more veins.

They walked for what felt for a long time before Renathan started noticing any change; and that change was that he was beginning to feel that same thrumming feeling from earlier; like something was calling out to him. It was the same one from earlier, where he had felt it begin to start up... In fact, he was sure it was the exact same one. Were they on the other side of that first wall now? Had he been feeling something in the lava tube that entire time? The idea was exciting, and he was really interested in finding out what it was to begin with. The gargoyle seemed to pick up her movement speed some, and Renathan was excited about it! He moved faster too, the mining cart in tow. Just what were they coming towards? Renathan was sure that Sarabi would not be bringing him towards danger, at least not this quickly.

Renathan was very pleased, when they seemed to eventually make their way to an area that seemed a lot different. For one, the thrumming was so loud, it felt like it was echoing off of Renathan's insides. Renathan could barely concentrate; he was shocked about it, it was getting stronger as they went on too. Sarabi seemed almost as infected by it as Renathan was; perhaps this was what he was looking for? Renathan began noticing more veins, again, and decided that he needed to get used to that thrumming before continuing on any further. Renathan moved toward the wall, motioning in a way that definitely caught Sarabi's attention even if she didn't know what it meant, exactly. Renathan chose one of the veins, scarcely even looking to see what it was to begin with, and then Sarabi seemed to want to do the same, taking the vein that was right next to his.

Renathan's vein, now that he had time to look at it, it was a cherry quartz. This was another quartz that he was not used to, a bright pink color, and he figured he wouldn't use it for gemstone working probably ever. However, they could be sold pretty decently though, so he thought about doing that. Renathan took a quick look at Sarabi's vein of mineral on the other side of him, and it was rhodonite. Renathan was very happy that these were some prettier minerals, and he wasn't sure if he would use them, but he was glad to be finding them. Renathan used his pickaxe to try to break the rock away from the cherry quartz. It was not at all hard to break the rock away, it practically crumbled beneath the pickaxe, due to the lava tube being made mostly out of black lava rock. Finally, Renathan was able to finally get that cherry quartz out of the wall.
