Reoz had enough momentum built up, sort of like when someone turns off the light in a scary basement and flees for their life back up the stairs to the safety of light, that he couldn't stop in time not to hit Ashe. Thankfully the human had realized this and dodged, letting the meat fly through the air. He caught the meat effortlessly and extended his head upward, so his neck could stretch out, and the meat slid right down his gullet.
Are you happy now? Ghidorah asked Ashe. He was grumpy- both because the corpse construct had gotten through him and in fact gotten a little more intimidating on his own, and also because that same corpse construct now got the delicious treat that Ghidorah would have liked to have for himself. As any sane carnivore would prefer.
Yes, I am. Thank you, you did a great job. Here, don't think I forgot you. Ashe had a third piece of meat, and he fed it to the drake while the corpse construct was distracted. He patted Ghidorah on the forehead and rubbed his shoulder, thanking him again, and dismissing him to go lay down. But not near Iva, please. I'm going to be using her next, and you've worked hard enough that you deserve a break.

As Ghidorah went to find a nice shady spot to lounge, Ashe called Reoz over. The corpse was done eating now and he was ready to do whatever he had to do to earn more. Ashe led him over to where Ivalice was laying, and the white hen started to get up when she saw Ashe and the corpse construct coming her way. Ashe stopped when she started to move, and gestured for Reoz to do the same. Ashe grabbed his bag, since he would have to slip around behind Ivalice and be ready with a treat to motivate the corpse into motion. He couldn't do that very well if he had to run around to grab said treats!
Ashe called to Reoz, and together they approached the hen. "Go ahead, try to scare her too." Ashe said these words, knowing the corpse construct wouldn't understand him, but it helped him focus. Ashe scurried around behind Iva, wondering if simply his presence would be enough to spur Reoz into action. This was the final step to the test, to see if Reoz learned anything. And the corpse started forward, and Iva finished standing up all the way. She grunted dramatically with the effort and gazed down at the corpse. Was he simply not scary enough?

Ivalice so far wasn't moving. She was stubborn and lazy, as hens tended to be, and it would take more than a look to scare her. Reoz, when met with this resistance, seemed to buckle down like he'd seen Ghidorah do when the corpse construct had stood up to him. He planted his weight differently, he tried to draw himself up to full height - which was higher than the hen, when he was standing on two legs, even if his spine never fully straightened. He let out a sound that literally sounded like blood was curdling, a strangling kind of sound, and he took a step forward.
Ivalice hesitated, starting to sense that he was intending to mean business. There was a strange confident air about him now that even she couldn't ignore. He took another step toward her - now hunching back over like his normal pose because walking on two legs was such a human thing to do and he literally didn't have the body parts for it - and then another. Soon, Iva was forced to take a step back, and Ashe noticed her head was starting to lower in submission. Her posture didn't show her giving in just yet, but she was almost there, so close. Reoz took another step.

Ashe decided to up the stakes with some steak. He pulled out a slab for Reoz to see, and that was the snap that he needed. He lunged forward, his neck snaking out at Ivalice. Motivated by food, Reoz was finally putting forth everything that he had picked up from Ghidorah. He had Ivalice submitting in no time - ducking her head toward the ground and backing away. At his insistence, she turned tail and walked along, letting him herd her wherever he wanted to go. But that was the beauty of it; once she was clear of Ashe, he didn't want to herd and control her like Ghidorah did, he just wanted her to move and give in to him.
Ashe rewarded him with the steak. Reoz gobbled it up, and soon they were back at it. Ashe would have him torment poor Ivalice several more times, making her move, back up, and overall give in to him. She did this without fuss, quickly recognizing she had been knocked down a peg in the pecking order. Reoz started out getting a treat each time, each one a smaller chunk than the last. Ashe didn't want him doing this only for food... Though, honestly, if he was going to eat his opponents, then he kind of was doing it for food, wasn't he?
In the end, Ashe was confident that he was just as intimidating as Ghidorah. He sort of seemed to become this new, fearsome creature. Very malleable, corpse constructs were.

Was the sky green? That was the question Ashe had asked her. She looked up at the sky again, then down at the grass. She knew the grass was green, and the coral frond Ashe had set out was green, and the sky definitely was not green. She shook her head no at Ashe, looking up at him, hoping she got it right. These tasks were new to her, making her channel her understanding in ways that the human man could understand. She had to match his teaching, with her learning, rather than just absorbing it in her way. "Great! Good job, girl. Correct answer. Now, show me something that is green!"He was doing this to reinforce the fact that things were green, and she had to know which things without his assistance at all. Without hesitation, because she knew this answer, she jumped up and pointed at her feet, to the grass, and then grabbed the coral frond and waved it in the air. These things were green! "yes! Very good, great job!" He set the frond aside, figuring she knew it pretty well and he wouldn't have to revisit that one. Next, Ashe wanted to teach her about Blue specifically. They'd touched on these all previously, but now was the test before she graduated. He had a feeling she would be able to get this one without too much problems, so he decided to try to trick her first. He held up his purple shadow node, cradling it gently in his hand. One of his most prized possessions. "Is this blue?" He asked her, holding it out to her. Inyala looked at it, then shook her head. She was getting better at not overthinking things - that, or her instinct had been faster than her thoughts and she just answered as a reflex. Either way, she shook her head no and looked up at Ashe to see if she had gotten it right. "Correct! Good job. This is purple, not blue."Next, Ashe held up the blue ball he had used earlier. "Now, is this blue?" He asked her, as he set the node down. Inyala leaned forward to see the ball, perhaps checking to make sure this wasn't a trick of some kind. When she leaned back, satisfied with her look, she gave Ashe a nod. It was a little exaggerated, more than a human, because she was making sure she got the point across to him. "Correct again!" Ashe praised her. This was a lot easier and smoother, he thought vaguely. No treats needed, just praise. "Now, what IS blue?" He asked. She cocked her head at him, understanding the question, then she looked around for blue things. She didn't see anything on the ground, so she looked up, and - ah-ha! She pointed straight up at the sky. Inyala: 5 1/5 Ashe: 3 0/10 Recognize colors: 13 []Recognize Blue specifically Yes Shake: 4 No Shake: 4

So she had green and blue down. These were colors she saw in nature when she was out and about - not to mention, and now that Ashe saw this he couldn't believe he hadn't used it before, the fact that her skin was blue. He could have smacked himself for that oversight. But they were past blue and onto black. "Next color we're going to practice," he told her. "Is black. Do you know what black is?" He asked this and waited a couple moments for her to contemplate this. He was asking all sorts of questions, knowing she understood his words if not exactly what he was asking. She gave a nod. Though she had hesitated, the nod was confident, but she didn't point out anything just yet because Ashe hadn't asked that. Ashe was pleased she nodded, though; he was working on teaching her the difference between affirmative and negative. "How about... Is this black?" He asked, touching her arm. She looked down at his hand on her, and noted the contrast of their skin. Though she wasn't white (or tan) like he was, she didn't think she was black. So she shook her head no. "Correct! Good girl. How about this?" He held up the yarn ball in front of her, which was black. She looked at it and nodded quickly. That was black for sure! Ashe nodded as well. "Perfect. Show me something else that's black," he told her. He gestured wide with his arms, and she looked around, taking her time. She first looked at the items; no black. Then she expanded her look and saw - Ashe. She pointed at his shirt, which was black. "Yes!! Great job! Three colors down, a few more to go, before he was satisfied she would know the spectrum he needed her to know. Next up was the color red. There were lots of red things, he thought, but for this task he had brought a cracked geode with rubies sparkling inside. She had gotten a little confused previously because the lantern had multiple colors on it, but now... He would separate the single red item from the others to make it easier. "'Yala, is this black too?" He asked her, holding up the cracked geode and showing her the red sparklies inside. He stroked the rough gemstone interior with his finger while she peered inside. He wasn't trying to trick her, so he let the sun really catch the red in it. Inyala shook her head when she saw what was inside - perhaps the outside, the brownish gray of the rock, might be confusing, but the interior was most certainly not. "That's not blue, either, is it?" Ashe asked. Inyala shook her head no again, chirping a laugh. Silly Ashe, he was asking really dumb questions now! "How about red? Is that the right color for red?"Upon hearing the right word for the color she was seeing, Inyala gave an eager nod and pointed at it. Yes, red. That was red for sure! "Correct! Perfect, good job!" He didn't have anything else on him right now that was red, so that would be it for now. Their extra work previously on red versus orange, and now her instant reactions, had him feeling confident. Ashe set the red geode aside, too, so it wouldn't get in the way for the next challenge. This time, he wanted her to know what all was yellow around them. After this one, he was planning on taking a break and relaxing the mind. This was a lot of intellect to cram into that little brain of hers. Given, she might be smarter and more clever than he was, in her own way, but to bring her to human standards, it was still work. And mental stress wore you out more than physical, in Ashe's experience. "Next up is... Yellow! Find me something yellow!" He told her. Switching up the questions and tasks so it wasn't the exact same routine. He watched as she puzzled this one out. Yellow wasn't as focused on before, and she had several things to pick from still; an old brown map, an orange lantern, a purple node, and the yellow ball. The orange lantern seemed to be tripping her up again, as he saw her eyes darting from one to the other, just those two. The brown, obviously, wasn't bright enough in its age to contend. To give her some more confidence, Ashe pointed to the purple node. "Is this yellow?" He asked her, bringing her attention to him. She looked at it, and shook her head no. That definitely wasn't yellow! Ashe gave her a nod of confirmation, and moved to the brown map. "Yellow here?" He asked, and again she shook her head no. "Okay, so what IS yellow?" he asked. His hope was to have broken her brain block and distracted her enough, focused her mind enough, to be able to figure out the next task. To his pleasure, she looked over and seemed to have puzzled it out. She held up the ball, dismissing the lantern. "So you think that's yellow?" He asked, taking the ball from her and holding it in his hand. She gave a nod of confirmation. "Well, little lady, you're correct!" "Break time!" Ashe announced suddenly. They were more than halfway through, and what better way to celebrate than to take a ten minute break? Dramatically, Ashe flung himself backward onto the grass, arms spread above his head. Inyala hopped up onto his chest, causing Ashe to grunt as, tiny though she was, air was forced out of his lungs unexpectedly. He reached up to cradle her body and he held her aloft, laughing. She mimicked his smile, sending it back at him. Still holding her, he swung his body upward into a sitting position, Inyala in his lap.
"Would you like a drink? Perhaps a snack?" He asked her. She gave a slight nod and patted her belly. Ashe grabbed up a bag of jerky - Galabex style - and a bottle of water. He filled the cap for her, and she drank several, while also taking stripes of jerky to munch on. Once about ten minutes was up, Ashe felt it was time to knock out the other colors.

Ashe felt like they would both be well rested now and it was time to get back to work. A few more to knock out and she would know the majority of the colors. And if there were more later, like maybe Pink, Ashe felt like it would be easier to introduce a new one once she knew so many. He cracked his knuckles and stretched out his arms, as if he was going to actually do any physical activities. "Let's try... Purple next!" Ashe announced. He gestured to the items remaining; an orange lantern, a purple node, and a brown map. Ashe waited patiently for Inyala to pick out of the items provided, and it didn't take long. She seemed to know purple well enough from earlier, and from being able to exclude it by process of elimination from the other tasks. Inyala quickly hop-scampered over to the node and picked it up gingerly. She knew this item, and knew how important it was to Ashe. Best to be extra careful with it. She took it over to Ashe, confident in her choice, and held it out to him. He took it and beamed at her. "So, you think this is purple?" He asked, looking it over. Without losing confidence, Inyala gave a quick nod. She was right.... wasn't she? She had to be! "Great job! You're correct. You caught onto that one fast, didn't you?" Inyala nodded again, pleased that she was able to pick the right one. Praise always felt good. "Are there any other purple items over there?" He asked her. Inyala turned around and looked at the others. After a couple of moments, she turned back to Ashe and shook her head no. No other purple items! Next up, Ashe decided, was going to be orange. For that, he had the lantern. He thought it might be considered 'yellow' when compared to the other lanterns, but it definitely looked like it was orange to him when he compared it to the ball. So he hoped it would be good enough for Inyala to pick up on in the future. Shades of colors was going to be something she would just have to learn as they went, once she had the basics down. He cleared his throat and Inyala got ready, knowing what was coming next. There were only two left now; which would her master choose? "Orange this time," Ashe said, giving a nod toward the items left. "Is there an orange item in there?"Inyala had started forward to collect the item called for, when Ashe asked the question. She paused, looked at the items, then gave Ashe a nod of her head. Yes, she was pretty sure there was an orange item there. "Is there a green item?" Ashe asked, while he still had her attention. She gave him a confused look, knowing that he had the green item, but she dutifully answered him anyway with a no shake of her head. "Good girl. What item is orange?" He let her go this time without distraction, and she went to the lantern. He was pleased there wasn't much hesitation; perhaps because yellow was the only one that slightly confused her and that was already gone. She came back holding the paper lantern, gingerly because even she could see it was delicate. Ashe took it from her. "Great job! You're really smart, you know that?" They were on the last item... The last color. Ashe felt like he had been out here for days, but it was probably only a couple of hours that had passed. Inyala was a quick study and a clever girl, she was able to pick up on this stuff quicker than he would have ever thought. It was just so much knowledge to cram into anyone's skull at any one time. "This one's going to be tough, 'Yala." Inyala cocked her head at him, glancing at the map left behind, then back to Ashe. When he couldn't hold his straight face anymore and burst out laughing, she realized he was being sarcastic for the sake of humor. She let out a laugh in her own way as well, and went over to the item, knowing Ashe was going to ask her to get it. But Ashe held up a hand. "Is that blue?" He asked her. She shook her head, with a slight hesitation that Ashe assumed was due to "blue" and "brown" starting with the same sound. But she knew the full word and was correct. "Is this yellow?" He asked her, and he got another no shake of the head. "Is this... Brown?" He asked her. She gave a yes nod and grabbed it up, hurrying it over to Ashe and dropping it in his lap. She seemed to think the training was going to be over when she cleared the ground and she was almost right! She appeared to have all of these colors down, but Ashe just wanted to go over a few things first. Ashe would spend the next fifteen minutes going over the colors again with the items, shuffling them in different orders, asking for one color instead of the others. But he left them all together so it wasn't process of elimination. He called for black a couple of times in a row, he put orange and yellow together and called for them each separately. He did blue and then green and then blue again. Inyala nailed them all, eagerly getting what her master requested of her. Thank goodness she had a deep enough love and respect for Ashe to continue to do this until he was satisfied, that she didn't protest out of boredom or annoyance.
And then, finally, Ashe called it quits. He thought they'd had enough and honestly if he saw another one of these items in the next week or two, it would be too soon. Except for his node, he loved that thing. But for now, he was pretty satisfied with Inyala's learning and he called for a break, giving her plenty of praise.

What a day! Ashe laid back in the grass again and gazed up at the sky through the trees, letting the sunshine hit his face and warm him. It was a beautiful day outside, Ashe had to admit, and he wanted to just take a nap there. He was pretty sure that if he did, though, he would sleep the rest of the day and get absolutely nothing else done. He had to decide; was Inyala done for the day? Should he go grab another beast to start training? Or should he use this time, while Inyala's brain was all warmed up, to teach her more?
All he knew for sure was he wanted to take a break, so a break they were taking. He heard the soft rustle as Inyala, too, laid down in the grass. He could see her form out of the corner of his eye. He laid there in silence, and her too, and just enjoyed each other's company. No pressure.
