Sev flinched as the sea pony's little spurt of water hit her straight in the face - and boy did it seem to look happy with itself for doing that. Face still scrunched up she looked down to the knee-sized creature who laughed merrily and nuzzled up to her.
"Yeah... you're so funny aren't you?" It was hard to genuinely be mad with the sweet little thing, it just seemed to want to play around. Those sweet little eyes looked up to her and Sev had to smile and reach down to give it a little scratch at the top of their head. As much as she hadn't liked the sudden squirt of water to the face, Sev had a strong feeling that she was going to get along with her new little buddy. Bez had been rather shocked by what had just happened and nosed closer, though he couldn't reach where the pair stood without kicking off of the ground. The pony was almost as tall as he was!

Bez instead retreated back to the shore and hopped up on to the slab of rock, neck craned forward to get a good look at what was going on with his girl. The strange newcomer seemed friendly but what if it wasn't? Sev seemed to trust it, so should he? The sea pony had seen Bez swim off and started bobbing through the waves with it's head swaying side to side, ambling over to check out the ghaenelt. It had already met the girl - now who was this? A second friend? Boy did the little thing ever hope.
Sevyrn kept a watchful eye on the pair - not out of distrust, but rather because accidents did happen. The seapony was going to bring no harm at all, it was just a sweet happy little thing, but Bez might feel like he had to protect his girl. The little blue creature stopped just shy of the rocky outcrop, water barely deep enough for it to bob its body in, and Bez leaned in to sniff it.

Was it about to squirt up at Bez like it had her? Sevyrn had no real way of knowing... hopefully the ghaenelt would be able to take a joke if it did. The two booped little snoots and the seapony started laughing like it had earlier, trying to inch closer even though the rocks cut it off. It just wanted to know its new friend!
It was a good thing that she had a pond back at home... there was nowhere in her kennel suited to aquatic creatures ever since Skye had been moved in to the pond, and Sev definitely would not be leaving this little guy behind now that it seemed fond of her. Hopefully the two seryn would be okay with sharing their space with a new friend - the seapony would hopefully fit in with them.
While everyone got to know each other, Sevyrn climbed back up on to the outcrop herself and sat at the edge with her feet in the water. She kept a vague eye on the river, ready to send Bez fishing if anything catchable swam by.

Sevyrn left after she managed to pick up those couple plants, carefully loading the sea pony in to a little aqaurium in her cart to head out. First she dropped Bez off at the kennels before returning to her own place, and introducing her newest little friend to her seryn in the pond - both of them seemed to think that this little thing was rather interesting, and the sea pony liked them too! She put her new plants in to the pond, headed down to the bait store to pick up some new supplies, and then settled down for the night. She tended her garden and sat by the edge of the pond just hanging out with her new little buddy for a bit - of course, at some point she was going to have to pick a name for it. Huh. Maybe she should call it Squirt - it did meet her by spraying her in the face. 56

The next day she returned - lugging the sea pony back in to the aquarium, which was already settled in to her wagon so that she wouldn't have to try to lift it full of water and a living creature that could potentially been hurt. She'd loaded her pockets with some stuff that she'd discovered sea ponies generally deserved, packed her bag with of her new supplies, and walked herself back down to the river side. Once she'd picked a spot she'd had to take Squirt out of the water but she'd had no problem bobbing with her head in the air when they had met, so she was likely find to spend a few seconds outside of the water as Sevyrn rushed her towards the river.
"Hey, Squirt! Look where we are - back where we met," Sevyrn said with a big smile. If she was going to have a new fishing buddy, her new buddy needed to learn to listen to her, so for the first little while Sevyrn simply sat there chatting with the friendly, happy sea pony while making a point to use her name as much as possible.

At least the weather was nice - Sevyrn wasn't in a rush to beat an overcast sky and rush out before rain could start falling down on her. She was content to sit there on one of the rocky outcrops with her knees pulled up towards her chest and one arm locked around them, the other hovering above the water's edge to give her new little friend some scratches and pets. Squirt seemed to be enjoying it, that was good right? Of course she always seemed to be happy, just idly bopping from side to side as she kept herself afloat and in the area. The gentle current meant nothing to a creature that had called this area her home for so long.
"Man I'm happy I found you, Squirt," Sev said to the little thing as she curiously nosed around, only for her to squirt water up towards Sevyrn in a happy response - much weaker than the last spray, this time landing on what had been dry rock at her feet.

What a sweet, peaceful day... and to think that Sevyrn had shown up to actually fish, only to end up never wanting to stand back up again. Eh, life would go on - even if she simply spent today playing with and teaching Squirt, tomorrow was a whole other day in which they would be able to make more time to get some actual work done. It was a one-sided conversation, one that the sea pony seemed to find herself distracted from, but whenever she did Sevyrn made it simple... Her name was the only word that she used to try to bring her attention back. Didn't want to confuse the little thing, after all. At first it hadn't gone too well, she'd used the lure of food landing near the sea pony in the water to get her attention, but with time she was getting better! Now Sev only had to call her a couple times.

For a little while Sevyrn took a break from talking to the sea pony while she was out enjoying the sights, instead opting to pull her sketchbook out and do a celebratory first sketch of the little cutie. Any time she started wandering far enough off that anxiety began to well within Sev she called to the little girl, who took that to mean that her friend wanted her! She would bob through the gentle waves back to the shoreline and giggle as Sevyrn hand-fed her a treat and gave her a little chin scratch. She'd close her sketchbook for a few minutes and talk to her some more, then get back to work.
This only lasted as long as Sevyrn was working on that first piece of artwork - after that all of her attention belonged to Squirt again. She loved having the attention back and she had gotten really good understanding that her friend wanted attention when her name was called!

Trash washed up on to the shore... Literal trash. Sevyrn wasn't about to keep that as a keepsake of this adventure, but she definitely was going to take it home to dispose of it properly. What kind of jerk had thought it was okay to leave an empty tin can in the river? People like that were part of why the world couldn't have truly good things...
"See this, Squirt?" Sevyrn asked the sea pony, shaking her head - the little thing didn't seem to see what the problem was. Squirt was just happy to be swimming about in the water, having a glorious time out in the river with her favourite any-legged buddy. Who cares what kind of miscellania washed up on the shore? It wasn't a snack or even a fish - it was nothing that she wanted to pay attention to. "Yeah, you don't care at all, do you?"

What a happy little bugger, just floating around basking in the sun with not a care in the world. Watching Squirt, Sevyrn wished that she could be that chill and carefree. It just... was not in her nature, however. When in the world had she ever even given the idea that she could possibly not stress about everything? Never - that was when. Figuring that it was probably time to get a little bit of fishing done - she could stop to play whenever she felt like it - Sevyrn walked away from the precious little sea pony and pulled a little tackle box out of her backpack. After loading up on new bait and lures that had become a must-have - she didn't want stray hooks potentially stabbing her when she reached in, or to lose some of her supplies because she hadn't been careful when taking things out. After popping the lid open, she scanned her wares.

What would be the best choice here? Sevyrn mulled it over and chewed on her lip as her soft green gaze scanned from one corner of the box to the next. Maybe one of those pink lures? Maybe just a plain old double hook, considering she'd only had the bare minimum last time that she had been down here? There were so many options and it was frankly her own fault that she was overwhelmed right now, but she would have to pick something at some point. She'd also bought more bait - some worms, some feeder fish. Maybe she shouldn't have loaded up like she had? It was too late for that now, she was already over three hundred credits short because of that spree, so she was going to have to make the best of it.
Sevyrn popped a bobber on to her line and then strung up one of those pink lures.

She'd never worked with rubber lures before, but she figured it had to be easier than trying to hook a worm - it even had a little metal eye on the top of it for her to string the fishing line through with ease. Awesome, that had been easy enough. Swapping out her every day runners for the clog boots she'd bought after dealing with one too many rain-ins ruining perfectly good shoes, the woman walked back to the river side. She crouched down to talk to Squirt, who was bobbing around happily in the relatively shallow water at the edge of the rocky outcrop.
"Why don't you go fishing, huh? You've gotta already know how." Well... Squirt did have to have an understanding of how to catch fish, Sevyrn figured - she was a river creature after all. Sevyrn would probably only need to teach the sea pony to do it on command.

It wasn't long before Sevyrn sent Squirt on her way, shooing her to go play while Sevyrn focused on bringing home some more fishies. It was boring and yet... calming - there was something peaceful about just staring in to the clouds, slowly whirling in the line only to try again. Eventually you catch something, and then back to the top. You could stop whenever, take a break whenever - it was open air and a cool breeze, time spent with creatures that she cared for deeply. What wasn't there to enjoy?
Sevyrn pulled her rod back over her shoulder and flicked it forward, releasing the line in to the water much more adeptly than her first shots just days before. The lure and bobber hit the water with a little plink, and after that the waiting game was on. With a soft sigh Sevyrn let her eyes close for just a moment, enjoying the cool breeze while she slowly reeled in.
