Looks like all the work the researchers at the breeding center have been doing finally paid off!
You may now breed an individual creature more than once per month in Wild Breedings, Pachee Breedings, and Orbaru Breedings!
Due to improved care techniques, Orbaru are producing more quality offspring with less effort on the part of the breeders! This means that you can get high quality offspring with about 10 fewer posts than before! How exciting! (Minimum post count for Orbaru breedings is still 10.)
They've also reported an increase in Female Pachee and Male Orbaru on record.

Oh dear, how could we forget? The Pachee breeding process has also been streamlined a bit.
You will need 10 posts total for a single male Pachee breeding, whether you have a partner or not. (This goes up to 15 for 2 males, and 20 for 3 males.)

You might have noticed at rollover that curious collections received a big update! We've changed how many items stock, the value of many items around the site, and the way bonus categories work. Please read the new rules carefully before making a trade. This also means that we've re-valued various items and pets that can be sold to shops to better reflect what they should actually be worth. This includes: loot area pets in Zoological Imports, pocketpets in Piko Pets, Pachee, Orbaru, and (introducing) Root Pair Offspring in Nature's Bounty, Garden loot and harvestable items in Herbologist's Delight, fishing loot in Hook, Line, n' Sinker, and mining loot and ingots in The Underground. Some values have gone up, and others have gone down. Overall we're confident that users will see a better return in most loot areas. (Except the mansion which has been scaled back to be more in line with the other areas.)

Sarane Update!
Dominant Sarane can now be bred once per month! However, you can still only breed a dominant Sarane once per season, so choose carefully.

We now have two new areas!
The Town Square is ready in the Draconics area and functions just like Alternate Mines in the Labs.
The Sarane Pit is now up and running! All breakings and gauntlet fights will be conducted here, all tournaments, both traditional and Sarane, will be held in the Fighting Pit proper.

There has been a change to the Training Gym!The Rules have slightly changed in the Description and Information thread, specifically: -A) Any pet with the following loyalty: 5 at half gain, 10 at normal gain, 20 at double gain 7) After each stat point gained, you can come back after you gain ten loyalty (for regular gain pets) since the end of your training session. So if you come in at loyalty 10 and leave at loyalty 12, you can come in again for another stat point at loyalty 22. For half gain pets this would be 5 loyalty later and for double gain this would be 20. So if you have a floof that leaves at 24, it can come back at 44. A worginu that leaves at 6 can come back at 11. That's right! We're now letting in animals based on loyalty! And rumor is, it's much easier to gain a single stat point for an animal as well... (A lower word count, perhaps?) Items from the Gift Shop are still incredibly helpful as well. Staff will let you know what loyalty the animal has to be at in order to bring them back to the Gym, so keep an eye out on your approval posts.

Some character updates for you! First, the how to create a character page now includes 'special' races such as Sprites, Pets as Characters, and Draconics as Characters! Also, the traits list has been reorganized and cleaned up. Most of the traits were reworded to be more neutral and adaptable for your characters. The following traits have also received mechanical updates: Additionally, all of the traits which give you a skill group ALSO give you a bonus to that skill group! For example: EDIT: The traits above that give a skill group are not able to be taken at the same time as Adept for the same skill group. The description for Adept has been modified to reflect this change. If any of these changes directly effect your character (or you would like to change your character to include the new changes), please PM Silver! You do not have to change if you do not want to, you can keep using the old versions of the traits if you want.

3 Tiny Updates for y'all! * The HAA has relaxed their rules of adoption - you no longer have to train 8TP within the first month, but you do still have to train your previous adoption 10TP before you adopt another! * The Quests list has some more detailed info about how to complete old quests, and which ones do and do not give QP upon completion. * Please from now on put 'Done' in a quest thread's title when you've finished! This lets staff know to check your thread, since they're no longer limited to one quest per month like they used to be.

First of all, we've finally implemented the suggestion of designing your own breedable offspring! You can now design your own Pachee, Orbaru, Root Pair offspring, or Draconics with the new item: Wishing Stars! Patterned Wishing Stars also work on Sarane, but they have stricter rules than other breedables. Wishing Stars are not (and will not be) available for Houluh or Lotine. The rules for wishing stars can be seen in the breeding tutorial and they can be purchased from Nature's Bounty! We're also super excited to introduce Bunanas! What's a Bunana? It's a special fruit that grows in the Gardens and has some interesting results if eaten by an Orbaru right before a breeding. Bunanas will add their color (or pattern) to a breeding. Unlike with Orbaru Juices, Bunana markings and colors are not the same every time! For example, if you have pastel colored parents, the Bunana will probably give you a matching, pastel color. If you have bright neon parents, you'll get bright neon colors! The color of the item itself is just a suggestion. The same is true for the patterns. For example: Stripes could be tiger stripes or zebra stripes or even lionfish stripes! It's all up to the artist. (Also, you can use as many Bunanas as you want all at once if you're crazy enough.) As a bonus to introduce the new item, an extra random Bunana will be added to every Garden roll until the 14th of January! Happy harvesting! (Note: The Bunanas are a bonus item that appear all year long in the gardens, but they don't 'take the place' of any other items. They're a bonus on top of the regular garden loot. They also can be traded IN to CC (10 credits eac) but not traded for via regular trades or the Flower Pots.)

We've got a big one for you this time! Your sentient pets (and all Draconics) can now learn skills, just like a character! I know what you're thinking, and yes! this means that how pets learn 'Speak' has changed as well. The skills for pets thread has all the relevant details for you. I hope that this allows people to feel like they have more freedom with what their sentient pets can do and learn, as well as making communicating with them significantly easier than it has been in the past. (Also parents can now teach their kids how to speak, something everyone has wanted for as long as Speak has existed on site!) We're hoping to be flexible about how Speak is taught considering how important it can be for sentient creatures to communicate. It does not necessarily have to be a classic formal training situation. Included in this update: - Cunning has had a bit of a reformat to make it easier to understand, and Draconic Intelligence has been overhauled as well. We've changed some of the lower Intelligence levels to bring them more in line with Draconics being a sentient species with an established society of their own. - The descriptions for speak and telepathy have been improved. - The tricks Labs Sign Language, Read, Write, and Jockey have been removed, as there are skills that cover those things now. The tricks Ride On and Hitch a Ride have been changed as well. (Sentient pets use the ride mount suite of skills to learn how to ride other pets.) If your pets already knew how to speak, or knew one of the modified skills, please file a staff request explaining the situation. We will refund you the TP and/or allow you to swap for other appropriate skill(s). (For example, 'Speak' can be swapped for 'Foreign Language (Rank 2)' and a refund of the left over TP. Let us know your desired outcome in the request!) Edit: If your Draconic spoke a language before this change, please make a note of it via a training application! We will include it in the list of things the Draconic knows for free. (The same goes for your one choice of free language for Intelligence 7-8 Draconics, or your choice of language(s) for Intelligence level 9+ Draconics. You may choose and register these 'free' languages at any time you decide which language you would like it to be.)

Head on down to the Potion Use Thread to get yourself some free breedable upgrades! This service is totally free. You can upgrade any non-custom Orbaru or Pachee to the new lines! (If your custom has been affected by a potion, you can also get an upgrade, but not if you bought the custom already on the potioned from the beginning.) If you have any specific requests, like the creature looking more like the original or its parents or something, please include those in the notes section of the form. To be extra clear: Things made by the Rainbow Factory will always be on the old lines. This is because that is what the Rainbow Factory paid for. Breedables earned on-site through shop purchase, breedings, or potions, however, may use the new lines. At this time we are not yet upgrading PPP Pachee. We'll let you know when that is possible. Here are some samples for ya!

As you all may or may not know, Hidden Crossroad’s 14th anniversary is on March 10th! To celebrate, we have something very special coming up. Introducing: The Build A Species Event!
That’s right, starting on February 14th we’ll be running an event to let the whole site build the next new WELP Corp species. This will be done via a series of 8 polls that will be open for 3 days each, starting on February 14th and ending on the site’s anniversary, March 10th. Everyone who votes in every single poll will get an event exclusive Special pet of the resulting species! The resulting species will also of course be released as a standard site wide pet.
I’m really excited about being able to give everyone a hand in the design process, and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun building something great! See you on the 14th!

Traveler's Emporium has limited stock of a new item called a 'reset potion' which allows you to reset the stats (and memory, as in training) of a custom or offspring pet. Use with care!

The skills 'Mounted Combat' and 'Mounted Archery' have been moved to the Combat and Marksmanship categories, instead of Husbandry. You may need to recalculate your skill points total if you had these skills at a discount. If you need help, please PM Silver .
