As Genie dug around another shallow pool, the woman smiled a little and glanced down, happening to see a striped half clam shell sitting next to her. Huh, she hadn't noticed that before. She grabbed it and put it with the others in her bag for now and she hoped that everything would work out after it was all said and done. If anything, at least she had some things for the Trader, right? Jack chuckled a little and watched Genie keep digging, hoping that everything would be fine as time went on and all that. She smiled a little at the thought, and the woman chewed her lip a little, hoping to find some fish soon, else she go absolutely crazy. It was worth it in the end of it though, she knew, she would find something good and maybe be able to sell it for quite a bit at this point.

Finally, there is a fish on the line- err, it leaps out of the water and flops around. Woops? At least it's easier to get this way.

Things were going well so far, sure there were a ton of shells that had been found, but that was fine, she would figure out something to do with them no matter what. She would honestly probably just trade them at the Traders, and she didn’t know what else to do with them. Maybe someone out there collected them? Jack really didn’t know, not a lot of people fished, but she hoped that someone would go for it sometime at least. Stretching out, she yawned a little and watched the Houluh pup trot around and dig at the various pools in the area, wondering what she might find next at this point. Hopefully it would be something good and not quite a shell, maybe she would get a bite on her line eventually, which would certainly be a good thing no matter what. All she could do right now was hope, however, but that worked for her.

With the way things were going, she almost wished she was training the little pup while they were there, but the line needed attention if she was going to catch anything, so she was going to be fine no matter what. Jack yawned again and shook her head, she was getting tired as she watched the pup dig around and she herself fished and watched her line in the water. Maybe she needed to use some bait, that could do something for her, right? Smiling a little to herself, she promised that the next time she had to reel in her line, she would change out the bait no matter what, if it was still there or not. Fish were weird like that, sometimes they liked things that were chewed on and sometimes they didn’t. Right now she just wanted to make sure she had fun doing what she was doing, however, and that was all that needed to happen.

Genie was having fun at least, more fun than Jack was right now as she waited for a bite or two. It was fine no matter what, but she was just happy to be out and about. Jack patted her on the head as she walked by to go to another pool, and the woman smiled a little at her at the same time. It was good to be out and about with her Houluh and all that, but she wasn’t sure what was going to happen no matter what. All she knew was that she was happy at the moment and nothing was going to change that, she figured with a little laugh. It didn’t matter what was happening right now, she just needed to know that things were going to be alright. Jack sighed a little and watched Genie as she dug around in one of the pools and then trotted over to her with another shell in her mouth, held gently between her teeth so she wouldn’t break it. Well at least she was considerate.

The shell went into her bag and Genie got a treat for doing something well and then was sent off again to go hunt some more, not that she knew what that meant, but Jack could certainly tell her to move along and see what else she could find. Whatever she did, she couldn’t understand why the fish just weren’t biting, it didn’t make much sense at this point, but whatever, it didn’t really matter she figured, as long as she was having some fun, then that was all that mattered. As she sat there in the hammock, watching the line in the water and the Houluh playing along the shore, she felt her eyes flutter heavily a few times before she yawned again and closed them for awhile, enjoying the day and the breeze in the trees. At least Genie wasn’t going to run off, she would stick around for awhile and it would all work out in the end, and the woman smiled a little as she hoped that things would go over the best that they could.

Jack just wondered what was going to happen if they didn’t find things at this point, what was the issue with getting things done? It wasn’t like she wasn’t trying or anything, she really was at this point, but there just wasn’t anything biting right now, which was terrible for her. She liked fish well enough, and she wondered what was going to happen at the moment. Honestly she would just trade them or sell them outright, but at least it would be something new on the market, she knew. Some people were still trying to sell stones, and while that wasn’t working quite as well, it was still happening and all that. Jack pushed her hair back and then glanced over to the Houluh as Genie dug around, trying to find something good for her master. Jack just couldn’t wait to get to training her up a little, she had a few things she wanted to teach her that she figured would work.

There wasn’t much for her to do, which wasn’t a good thing, she didn’t know what she wanted to do either. Jack sighed a little and shook her head, unsure of what she could be doing at the moment, but other than fishing, what all did she have to do? There was a lot of stuff to do, unfortunately, but she wasn’t sure what else was going to happen at the moment. There were Houluh to work with and all that, but she was slowly whittling down the list, very slowly. Genie was the one she was working on now, but Cocoa was next she knew, with a little smile on her face. She didn’t know what to think of at the moment, but that was fine at the same time. Jack didn’t know what she needed to do while fishing, she could work on the Houluh training list maybe? But where was the fun in that right now.

Hopefully by the end of the day they would be doing Genie’s show, that was all she could figure for now and all that. Frowning a little, Jack twitched the fishing pole to move the line a little before leaning back and looking at the Houluh with a sigh. She just wished this went faster, but she didn’t know what else to do at the moment. Honestly she wished she could be training her at the moment, but didn’t know what else to train her other than the three things she was already going to train her. Scratching the back of her head, she watched as Genie sniffed around, trying to find more things to bring to her, and she hoped it would work out that way no matter what. Maybe she could train her some dumb stuff at this point, but whatever happened, she needed to figure out what to do at the moment other than just fishing. Maybe build a sand castle...

Nah, that didn’t sound very fun, she thought as she dug around in the ground a little with a thin stick. It drew designs in the wet sand before it snapped, and she chucked the stick into the water out of a little bitterness right now. That wasn’t a smart idea of course, not when you were fishing, but still, she was a little sour that she hadn’t caught anything yet. It was the time of the shells, apparently, and Genie was finding them all while she worked with the line. That was fine, but she really hoped that things would work out in the end of it all, and the woman sighed a little as she decided what to do next. She wanted to teach Genie how to run and have more endurance than she already did, as well as to see keenly in the dark. That would take up all of her experience and all that, but she hoped that things would work out no matter what.

Jack pushed her hair back, frustrated, and glanced over at Genie who was trotting over to her with another shell in her mouth. She suppressed a laugh and took it gently before rewarding her with a treat. There wasn’t any official training going on, but that was fine she knew, it didn’t really matter at this point. Whatever was happening to her, it needed to stop, and she touched her nodes for comfort. Maybe that was what was bothering her, she didn’t have enough crystals for an order node, but she did have enough remnant crystals to make another hollow node, which wasn’t a bad idea. She raised an eyebrow and thought about it for a little while, wondering what she would do with another hollow node as she stroked Genie’s back. The pup was tired and she had pulled her up into the hammock with her for a little while so she could rest, and petting her would help soothe her own nerves as well.

Genie snoozed next to the woman and she wondered what was going to happen while things went the way they were going. Jack leaned back in the hammock, rearranging the Houluh as she moved, and she hoped she wouldn’t wake her up right now. That was always the worst, laying down comfortably and waking up because whoever you were laying on was moving. Giving a little sigh, she pulled her line from the water and stowed away her pole, wondering what could possibly happen next to them. Sure something might be coming their way, but there was no way to know for sure and she wasn’t going to bank on it at this point. Jack closed her eyes and swung the hammock back and forth, listening to the river gurgle as it flowed past them, and she managed a little smile as well. Maybe whenever she woke up from her nap it would be alright, but again, not going to bet on it.

Just a little while longer and they could go to the Park and train, but for now, they both slept in the softly swinging hammock by the river. A casual observer wouldn’t notice anything too odd about them, they looked innocent enough, but Jack was a dangerous person when she wanted to be, even though she tried to be as friendly as possible with everyone and everything, it was hard to keep that up at times. She frowned a little in her sleep and touched at her nodes before she could calm down, and the pup next to her wriggled a little as she did so. Jack’s eyes drifted open for a moment before she closed them again, unimpressed with what she saw. The sun was still up and she was still in the hammock, her stuff was still next to her on the ground and that’s what mattered. Even the pup was still there, it would take quite a bit to get her away from her at this point.

The woman regularly carried a long, smooth staff she had used to use to walk with before she had regrown her torn off leg, at least one sword (usually two), and her six nodes, about to be seven once her soul regenerated all the way, she figured with the slightest of sleepy smiles. It was alright, she would get what she wanted eventually, she always did, she was persistent of course. As she slept she rolled a little in the hammock and cradled the pup against her as the Houluh started to whimper in her sleep. Nightmares… she could understand those completely, she still had them about the accident, and she wasn’t sure she was ever going to get over them. What would have happened had the tree landed on Renathan? Or Auburn? What would she do if that had happened? Jack whimpered in her sleep and Genie opened one eye, licked her on the cheek, and went back to sleep, calming her down.

It had happened to her, however, and while that was bad enough, it wasn’t the first time she had gotten hurt, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last with the animals she decided to work with. The bigger the better in her opinion, and she grinned a little as she thought of the new halfbreeds she had at home. Well, thirdbreeds, maybe? Thundergug, Sarane, and Pliathor all combined together into two sleek looking hunters who could fly. One black and red, the other black and white, they were perfect but she wasn’t sure what to do with them just yet. As she smiled in her sleep, the little Houluh started to wake up little by little. She wasn’t sure how long they had been out of it, but it was starting to get a little dark and the pup got a little scared by that, not really knowing where she was, but the smell of the woman put her at ease for now and she snuggled up to her, nosing into the crook of her arm.
