Silver decided that it was time to get their own paws dirty, considering how well Kylma seemed to be getting along. They knew they made the right choice in bringing him along. They pulled one of their little garden trowels out of their bag and kneeled into the dirt. Soon enough they had something to show for their effort - a small green coin! They beamed and went to show off their new prize only to see everyone fussing about and approaching Kylma. Silver's ears pinned down and they clutched their coin tightly. They really didn't know what to do with so many people around. They couldn't even figure out what happened at first. All they knew was that they wanted to protect Kylma from the deluge of attention. They quickly made their way into the crowd, uncomfortable the entire time. As much as they wanted to stand back, they also wanted to be close enough to comfort Kylma. Not that he seemed to mind at all! They watched Kylma carefully, and as long as he remained calm, everything would be fine. [Squares 54 & 58] [129.65, 8.7] Finds:

All around them were holes. People digging holes, animals digging holes. Flare didn't expect to actually find anything, but wasn't that the whole point of this 'hunt'. The ...uh... antelope? on two legs with their hair in an impressive mustache is venturing back and forth when he seems to hear a clink of tool on item. Some items he can notice out of the corner of his eye, being larger, others, smaller then his fist. -dig here- he pauses in his own hole... looking at the side of the hole. He'd found nothing so far. Curious on why his inner hum was drawing him to the side of hte hole instead of the edge, the shovel is abandoned and he starts scratching away with the pick instead. Clink. Brushing it away, he finds himself a glass jar of... powders. Its so pretty, like the rumors of the sea, among the dirt caking the item. Grendel whines, venturing back from her hole with nothing ot show of it, but starts sniffing around where he'd been digging. Then they found the pearl coin. Oooh, it is shiny and new looking. But he can see two more lots taken up. Taking the powder jar and his tools, they move to new squares. -Dig here grendel- WHat was this goodie bag anyhow.

Lethalia turned the coin over in her hand, scratching clumps of dirt to reveal the emerald glint beneath. It's twin was in her pocket from the previous excursion. Luckily enough the trinkets had still been gathering dust in a pile collection along with other junk findings from the mansion she had no use for. (More fortunate yet she'd been able to find them within said collection.) At first glance up, Estelle hadn't found anything necessary to wrestle from her grubby little paws. The faeron was empty-handed at one moment, and running up with a glowing orange something-or-other clasped in one paw the next. Where had she materialized that from in the time Leth had looked away? "Whatcha' have there, brat?" the satyr asked, extending her hand to the faeron. Estelle fluttered the remaining distance, dropping the pouch into her owner's hand and lighting upon the woman's forearm. Lethalia turned the bag over in her hand, grinning at the seasonal jack-o-lantern face. "Y'didn' take it from nobody, I hope," she felt the need to implore first, not wanting to deal with a faeron's thievery this early in. "Y'wanna open it, ay?" There was reason to suspect the fae might've been more reluctant to hand over the treasure if not for needing thumbs to open the drawstrings. |Lethalia opens the goodie bag!|

Xentus digs in lot #59:
There have been better forms of entertainment than watching dirt.. well, not so much dry as fall upwards out of a hole, shovel by shovel, but it can come close. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any finds here to spice things up.
Despite no finds, there is a strange little bag just sitting around on the ground...

( Xentus has earned 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Varus digs in lot #60:
While it might certainly be irritating for a creature of the earth to be so cut off from their senses, one has to wonder how close to 'earth' these objects truly are? Well, technically glass is KIND of like earth.. if smelted hard enough, right? Alas, there doesn't seem to be any of that here either.
( Varus has earned their owner 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Leafy digs in lot #53:
Oh? Is that gold?? Well no, not exactly (Not even Fool's Gold) but there is a shiny piece of yellow-tinted glass coin in the soil! Should fetch a nice 3 points at the booth.
Along with the find, there is a strange little bag just sitting around on the ground..

( Leafy has earned 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Naieth digs in lot #56:

The strange creature doesn't seem to have much more luck with this place as the last, but surely, SURELY, there's something to find somewhere?
( Naieth has earned their owner 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Linyü digs in lot #51:
This patch of dirt seems pretty plain and dirt-like, which is perhaps a nice saving grace, as there's no sudden summoning of a crowd of archaeologist..
Despite no finds, there is a strange little bag just sitting around on the ground...

Rei digs in lot #52:

..Until the hara finds something. It's not in too deep, the top of the glass container being revealed in the first couple of handfuls of dirt, but as more and more is uncovered, and it becomes increasingly apparent it's NOT a coin, a murmuration begins on the sidelines of the digging area. Not dissimilar to a flock of corvids, the historical society overseers crowd close again, already debating and discussing among themselves over a potential find. The first to reach the site carefully brushes aside the dirt and dislodges the vessel, gasping softly as a crystal seems to rattle inside. Oh! An arcane device! A tool of divinance? Material component for some ancient spell? The murmuring increases, though doubtful voices interfere as well. No, no, can't be.. The timeline don't fit, the styling is too different, the material and craftwork clashing.. Finally, as they clean it, they see a little label at the bottom - "Crystals and Clarity Emporium" - and a groan goes through the crowd. Not an artefact at all, just a cheap esoteric product from a local shop. They return the item and wander off, rather dejected, as the ungulate sidles near. "Y'know, if they don't want it, and you don't want it, I might have a place for it at the booth for, say.. 20 points?"
( Rei has earned their owner 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Silver digs in lot #54:
Crowds might not be attractive, but shinies certainly are! And this one could catch the attention of anyone, so best make sure it's tucked nice and safe in a pocket. Or maybe traded up, for some 3 points at the booth.
Along with the find, there is a strange little bag just sitting around on the ground..

( Silver has earned 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Kylma digs in lot #58:
Not too far away, on the other little plot, the strange pale creature finds something else as well. Not enough to attract attentions again, but certainly pretty, with a nice deep blue sheen! Probably worth, oh, 9 points at the booth.
( Kylma has earned their owner 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Flare digs in lot #55:
Clink! There's a sound as the pickaxe hits something, sparking a sense of excitement! But.. it's just a sturdy piece of rock. There doesn't seem to be much else here, alas.
Despite no finds, there is a strange little bag just sitting around on the ground...

( Flare has earned 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
Grendel digs in lot #57:
The fortunes turn for the houluh, however! Among the dirt and rocks and roots and sand and.. whatever else.. there's a shiny piece of yellow coin! Not gold, but still worth some 3 points at the booth.
( Grendel has earned their owner 3 points at the Booth for their work! )
What an undertaking! Where the work had been slow to begin, the ungulate could hardly regret that second round of posters, as suddenly a swarm of diggers showed up and cleared the whole remaining lot in a matter of hours! Had he known, he would have drawn ghosts and pumpkins on those things to begin with! Who knew they were so attractive to prospective prospectors? And he made a note to make sure and incorporate these designs in any future endeavour - holidays, games, merch.. Such great opportunity could hardly be wasted!
The historians had grown quiet, and that concerned him. Oh, to be sure they made their presence known any time something was dug up, but it seemed each item was doing a number on their morale, of sorts.. or perhaps their hopes? It was difficult to tell from so far a distance. And he preferred to keep it, for the time being. After all, the whole project still stood on the proverbial blade's edge.. They needed just one good find to lock the whole lot down for gods know how long. The ungulate surveyed the last of the diggers, as they filled in the holes and patted down the dirt. His eyes then strayed to the last remaining piece of lot, the largest of them all.. The most riskiest of them all.
It was two lots down.. but one VERY big piece of land still to go.
But, he can worry about that later. The Gallus line was as hospitable as they were entertainers, and the workers had earned themselves a nice good bit of rest before starting the nightmare-which-awaited. And far from it will he have it be said that wait went by without refreshments! The scandal! The ghosts of his forebears would have come to haunt him even if it wasn't Vai Min Mur! So he stood on top of one of the crates, clapped his hooves together and brought about everyone's attention. "Excellent! Excellent work one and all!" Antelmo cheered, "Your efforts have been MOST appreciated and what wonderful speed! At this rate, we shall be done before the holidays are even past us! Ah, but my words must only make you more weary, so we shall dawdle no more than necessary." The hooved hand theatrically pointed towards a table set up to the side, where plates of cookies and pots of freshly brewed tea awaited, "Go! Eat! Drink! And rest to save your strength! For the last stretch of our little endeavour shall dawn soon enough!"

( Feel free to grab~ )
Thus, the laws of hospitality appeased, he returned to the booth and continued to dig into the stacks of papers and maps, to work out the final placement of flags for that last bit of land.
He just hoped no-one would be spooked by the costume when he later goes out to plant them.
( Next map starting on friday, 22nd - Keep an eye out! )

Ashe was a bit disappointed, in the way competitors are when they don't immediately succeed, when he dug up nothing. He did happen upon a goodie bag, at least, so not all was lost! He held it in his hand, contemplating what to do with it, when the call to dig came and he grabbed his shovel... Just to find that a crowd had gathered and there were no more spots for him to dig. He pushed the blade into the ground and leaned (lightly) against the shovel, watching the others dig. While they were busy, he opened the goodie bag to see what was inside. Inyala, without a job to do, was sitting at Ashe's feet. She craned her neck up to watch as he opened the thing, curious as her master as to what was inside. Hopefully something valuable! She didn't do all that digging just to end up with nothing! And soon enough, everyone had finished digging. It went pretty fast when you had so many people on deck! And their kind host was giving out refreshments. Ashe couldn't resist and he took a cup and a biscuit. And a second biscuit for Inyala, handing it to his little demon. She took it eagerly and munched, content. [ Ashe opens the goodie bag] 3

[Silver opens Goodie Bag x2!] After the crowd cleared up and it turned out that Kylma hadn't actually found the world's most interesting thing, everyone went back to their own projects. As exciting as it could have been to find a rare artifact, they were kind of glad that it blew over quickly and they could get back to work. Another coin! The place was littered with them. Silver wondered why, but didn't spend time dwelling on it. Kylma also found a coin, which was interesting. Now it seemed like a game to see who could find more - and they were already in the lead! They also had two little goodie bags. Who had left them around? It reminded them of something, but they couldn't quite put their finger on it. Wasn't this a game that children played... or something? With the little... gourds? Well, whatever the case, they tipped the bags out to find out what was inside. [129.85, 8.8] Finds:

Renathan had been a later participant, and because of that and his typical thoroughness he was easily outpaced by the other diggers. He was quite pleased with the outcome, though; there was a lot of work that had been done; and from what he could hear there was a lot more to come! He wipes the sweat off of his brow after putting the gift satchel into his side pouch after looking through it. He hadn't found much of anything, but whenever he checks up on Auburn he finds her with a neat coin held deftly in her beak. "Wow, Auburn- look what you found! Good gal." He said, giving her a pat on the head as he took the coin from her. She hops back up on his shoulder out of habit. "And now, we rest for a bit." He says softly to her, looking out at the amenities spread across the tables. "And look here, some lovely cookies." Renathan seems very pleased as he sits to have some. He draws a few seeds from his pocket to feed to Auburn, as well. She worked very hard for him so far![Post 4]

Auburn makes quick work of the seeds and then spends a few moments distracting Renathan by trying to weasel the top of her head up and underneath his jaw like a cuddly cat before he finally reaches out for one of the cookies for himself. He had no idea what was in the cookies, so he was afraid to give one to his Izer, so whenever she starts begging him for a taste of the cookie he takes a second to grab out a seed to hand her instead. While she was distracted with the seed, he takes a moment to bite down into the cookie and then reach out to pour himself some tea. The tea smelled interesting; he wasn't sure what sort it was and that was exciting!
The tea and cookies are perfect in compliment to one another. He hums in pleasure, and then moves the shovel he'd had leaned against his arm around to make it more comfortable.[Post 5]

New Map!
So far so good, but Antelmo isn't ready to breathe too easy just yet.. The bigger challenge is the last piece of the land, one could even say the 'largest' of the challenges! The little flags ring the area, marking off squares and sectors for people to dig through, all under the careful watchful eye of the historical society overseers..
And yet he can't help but notice their dour mood, nervous fiddling and what could, perhaps, be called.. sadness?
Maybe this project wasn't going as they expected..

It was time again! Ashe was too excited to dig again yo notice the poor guy's mood. He chose his plots carefully and sent Inyala off to the task of digging hers, while he speared the untouched ground with the blade of his shovel. This time for sure he would find some treasure. "Good luck, Yala," he muttered under his breath. They hadn't had the best of luck so far, but he had found a goodie bag that had some neat stuff in it.
This plot of land was vast. If he personally didn't find something, he was sure someone else would. But that might be bad for the owner, if they started finding artifacts the museum might want. He didn't quite understand the whole thing, since he joined the helping crowd late. But he thought it would be nice to have an actual fairground around here.
The time passed and soon he had dug a deep hole. When he was done, he went to help Inyala finish.

Silver tipped the goodie bags out onto the ground and looked over what came out. There were some toys, trinkets, and sweets inside. They stuffed the things into a spare pocket in their bag. They would have to figure out what to do with them later, since they didn't think the items would be of much help while digging. The whimsy of a little bag full of prizes made them smile, so they moved onto the next area in a good mood. "Here," Silver said, offering a little treat to Kylma. He crunched through the treat and slowly swished his long tail. "You're doing a good job, Ky," they said. "Let's go, Ky, looks like there's a lot more to do," they said. They grabbed Kylma and carried him toward a plot they had a good feeling about. They had let him choose the last one, so it only felt right that they choose this one. "Alright, then, dig Ky, dig!" Kylma was excited to get going again, and as soon as he was given permission, he started tearing into the dirt. He didn't care about the prizes, of course, he just wanted to spend time with his friend and feel his claws against the dirt. Silver meanwhile picked an adjacent plot with their garden trowel in hand. No doubt Kylma would finish first and come over to assist them as well. [Squares 32 & 42] Finds: [130.25, 8.9]

Show name: Walk a Mile Call name: Miles Gender: Male Species: Common Houluh Level: 20 [1/5] Loyalty: 42 [2/5] -stats- Stamina: 2 Strength: 2 Resistance: 1 Dexterity: 5 Mentality: 5 Special Abilities: None Moves: Bite Training Tricks Known: Name (1), Heel (1), Come (1), Search (2), Sit (1), Stay (1), Hold (1), Drop (1), Lay Down (1), Combat Crawl (2), Race (3) Another day, another time to dig. Kadin packed up with all of his tools and supplies and made his way over to grounds again to see if there were any likely places to move some dirt around. He brought Miles with him again, of course, since the houluh had proven himself before as perfectly capable of helping with these tasks. This time he wanted the two of them to spread out to better cover ground and, hopefully, find something interesting to bring home this time. It had been a bit disappointing last time when it turned out that the map had been all dug up before he could get in on the last round, but it seemed that he made it relatively early this time, if the lack of holes dug up was any indication. But it was a bit hard to tell. The area they were digging this time was, in a word, huge. Here's hoping he' found something interesting! [2 & 22]

The break didn't seem all that long, despite how much time Renathan spent enjoying the cookies and giving Auburn seeds to keep her away from the cookies. There was a much larger plot of land to be turned over, and he was anxious to get back to work! He stands, leaned against his shovel with a cup of tea in his hand until they are turned out once more to go check the area. He watched as a few of the people that where there went to different parts; some closer to the front and some closer to the back, and he decided to go somewhere closer to the middle; but to send Auburn a few patches away from him just to make sure that he would have an easier time moving up or down one to check without bothering her too badly. He takes her to the one towards the end of the column of one of the middle rows and he points to it; "Auburn, F'rai!"[Selections: 66 & 69] [Post 6]

Auburn runs off excitedly after making the short glide from his shoulder to the ground. As she scampers around to search for anything she might deem to be 'shiny', Renathan smiles beneath his mask at her and then turns around to go check out the other slot he'd selected. It was only two down from her, to make sure that he could watch her decently enough. He wasn't as worried on the last plot because it was much smaller; but he wasn't sure how far away he could get from her without either of them feeling the negative effects of such. Yes, much better to keep her nearer to him!
The russet mammalian selects a good soft corner to work on, and then pressed the shovel into the ground there. It was hard, back-breaking work, but he was an avid miner so he wasn't as effected by it as he might have otherwise have been.[Post 7]
