Breeding Creatures This tutorial deals with breeding creatures. Many creatures around the site can be bred to produce offspring. That is, two (or sometimes more) parents can be combined to create an offspring, often with unique coloring and stats based on that of the parent creatures. The methods for breeding creatures varies by species, so this guide will outline all of the details for each species. Generally, creatures can be bred in one of the following ways: - By purchasing through the Flea Market.
- By earning the right to breed through training or battling.
- By purchasing an item in an NPC shop.
- By making a roleplay requirement.
Some species use a combination of the above methods. (For example, Houluh have both a training requirement and a roleplaying requirement.) Note that any breeding roleplays must be PG-13. You may be vague about details or cut it off just before the 'action' if desired, but please do not write out the actual 'act' of mating.

Numbered Species (Cash Shop) Numbered species are generally only able to be bred through shops in the Flea Market. These breedings are (usually) purchased with real money. Not all species are available, since each shop only offers a specific list of species. Each shop will also have their own instructions for ordering breedings through them, so please read through their information carefully before ordering. Tat-lung and Elemental Golems are not available through Flea Markets, as they have special rules for breedings listed below. Serum of Procreation The Serum of Procreation is available as a prize from the Fighting Pit and Contest Hall. If you have two, you can use them to fund a breeding without paying extra. Currently, Serum breedings are accepted by the Rainbow Factory and WELP Corp Flea Market shops. You may only breed species offered by these shops using Serums. To use Serums of Procreation: Elemental Golem Fusion Elemental Golems cannot be bred, but Elemental Golem v2s may be fused together in order to create a new creature. Unlike breedings, this will combine both 'parent' creatures into an entirely new creature, after which the original creatures will cease to exist as individuals. Elemental Golems must be Stalkers in order to fuse. How to Fuse Elemental Golem v2s: Tat-lung Breeding Tat-lung can only be bred through the Tat-lung Conservatory. To do so, you will need $20 worth of Magical Coins, purchased through Trepuldra. Unique Tat-lung can be bred, but will not pass down their unique poses/lineart. The closest equivalent non-unique breed will be used for the offspring instead, at the artist's discretion. To breed Tat-lung: Crossbreeding Some Flea Market shops offer Crossbreedings, which is a breeding between two (or more) different species. The resulting offspring will have unique lineart, and will display a mix of the parents traits. No two Crossbreedings are the same, even if they have similar parents. Each crossbreed also has unique stats and is considered a distinct species separate of their parents. Flea Market shops will each have their own rules and ordering process regarding Crossbreeds, so be sure to read the rules set out by the shop carefully before making your purchase.

Sarane Breedings Sarane are a powerful species of dragons often used for fighting in the Fighting Pit. Characters can raise, train, battle, and breed their Sarane. Adopting, raising, and battling Sarane are covered in the Sarane Tutorial. This section is about breeding Sarane. There are two ways to breed Sarane: Dominance breedings, earned through achieving Dominance with your Sarane; and paid breedings, purchased with cash. Please note that gelded (or spayed) Sarane cannot participate in any breedings. Please see the Sarane Tutorial for more information about gelding. Dominance Breedings Once per Season, if you have at least one Dominant Sarane, you are entitled to a free Dominance breeding. You are limited to one Dominance breeding per user per season, no matter how many Dominant Sarane you own. Exception: If you win a tournament, you are entitled to 1 more Dominance breeding during that season only. For this additional breeding, you must use the Sarane that won the tournament. One parent of the Dominance breeding must be a Dominant Sarane owned by you. The other parent can be any other Sarane of the opposite sex, so long as they are an adult. The second parent does not need to be broken or dominant in order to participate in a dominance breeding. Offspring from Dominance breedings will be 1 tier higher than the Dominant parent, up to a max of tier 3. - If the Dominant parent is tier 1, offspring will be tier 2.
- If the Dominant parent is tier 2, offspring will be tier 3.
- If the Dominant parent is tier 3, offspring will be tier 3.
- If both parents are Dominant, offspring tier will be determined by the Sarane owned by the user who initiated the breeding.
- If both are Dominant and owned by the same user, offspring tier will be determined by the highest-tiered parent.
To order a Dominance breeding: Paid Breedings If you're not concerned about tiers or Dominance, you can always purchase Sarane breedings through cash. However, there are a few rules: - Both parents must be broken (if applicable) to be bred this way.
- Offspring from paid breedings are always tier 1, regardless of the tiers of their parents.
- Once per season, you may purchase a breeding between two parents of the same sex. However, any offspring produced this way will always be the same sex as their parents.
To order a paid breeding: Wishing Stars With a patterned wishing star, you can influence the design of one of the offspring in your Sarane breeding! To use a wishing star, send the item along with the following form when applying for a Sarane breeding. Form: Since genders and tail types are not guaranteed to show up in Sarane breedings, your wishing star will be returned if your desired tail type and gender combination is not available from that breeding. The artist will make sure not to use your design on any of the other offspring in case you would like to try again later. Addendum: Stats for Sarane Offspring With tiers, tail types, and breeds to think about, Sarane stats can be a bit tricky. This is a walk through of how to create proper stats for your offspring. Step 1: Select a stat base. Your Sarane's stat base is determined by their sex. For Drakes, start with:
| For Hens, start with:
| Stamina: 7 Strength: 7 Resistance: 5 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Fly Moves: Climb, Gash, Bite
| Stamina: 5 Strength: 5 Resistance: 4 Dexterity: 4 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: none Moves: Climb, Gash, Bite
|
Step 2: Select a breed. Offspring must choose a breed from one of their parents. Each breed adds an ability or move to the Sarane's stats: Step 3: Look at your Sarane's tail type. Depending on the type, add the following to your Sarane's stats: Step 4: Determine your Sarane's tier. Bonuses for tier 2 and 3 also depend on the sex of your Sarane. Refer to the chart below and add the appropriate set to your Sarane's stats. Please note that the tier bonuses for do not stack. (A tier 2 does not also get the tier 1 bonus, and so on.)
| Drakes
| Hens
| Tier 1
| Move: Headbutt
| none
| Tier 2
| Move: Horn Strike +1 Mentality +1 Stamina
| Ability: Glide +1 Stamina
| Tier 3
| Move: Horn Strike Ability: Commanding Presence* +1 Mentality +2 Stamina +1 Strength +1 Resistance
*Cannot be 'friends' with other Drakes.
| Ability: Fly +2 Stamina +1 Mentality
|
Now you should have a finished set of stats for your Sarane! If you're still feeling overwhelmed, you can always post a thread in the Help area, and other members or staff can help you figure out stats for your Sarane.

Houluh Breedings Houluh are a species of hounds created by the Labs. They require adequate training and care to grow up healthy, and can be shown off in special Houluh-only contests. Unlike other HxR breedables, their breeding system is based on a genetics system instead of just looks. As such, they have their own tutorial, which covers everything from acquiring a Houluh to the details of their genetics. Selecting Houluh for Breedings Choosing parents for Houluh breedings is a bit more tricky than with other breedable systems, so we've made a list of requirements here. Be sure to check the following: - The Houluh being bred must both be adults.
- The Houluh being bred must be different sexes.
- Houluh cannot be inbred within three generations. In other words, they cannot have a common ancestor within three generations.
- The Houluh being bred must belong to different users.
-- Once every four months, you can loan out a Houluh from your own kennel to another user or do a breeding between two of your own characters. This is the only way to breed two Houluh owned by the same user. - Each Houluh has a limit on the number of times they can be bred. Once you receive your adult Houluh and their genetic analysis, consult the Houluh tutorial to determine how many breedings your Houluh can participate in. Make sure they still have breeding allowances before attempting to breed them.
To breed your Houluh: Items for Houluh Breedings Token of Fidelity | Allows a Houluh that does not have any breeding slots left to breed again.
Purchased as a prize from the Contest Hall prize shop. | Offering To Order | Ensures all puppies are born as Blessed (Silky) Houluh, with longer fur and special abilities.
Purchased as a prize from the Contest Hall prize shop. Only available to characters who have won at least one Houluh Salonne. |

Root Pair Breedings Whiptail Jackaroos, Kairfuryoo, Snorgs, Dragon Oaks, and Mussimanders are breedable using the Pair of Roots item purchased from Nature's Bounty. To do a Root Pair Breeding: Where to Get Root Pair Species Customs and FVSC for all Root Pair species are available through the Sanctuary shop in the Flea Market. Special Root Pair Species are sometimes available as prizes for special events, or from prize shops like the contest hall or fighting pit. Root Pair species can also be found in the following places: Items for Root Breedings Lacrymose Leaflet | Adds an extra offspring to any Root Pair breeding.
Purchased from Nature's Bounty.

Wishing Stars With a bright wishing star, you can design one of the offspring in your Root Pair breeding yourself! To use a wishing star, include the item in the first post, and include a picture of your design and/or describe the design you want to the best of your ability. Rules: If you are unsure, you may send a message to Silver to ask if the design is acceptable before using your wishing star. Addendum: Special Mutations Sometimes when doing Root Breedings, one of your offspring may come out a little (or a lot!) different from the parents. Sometimes, mutations may appear even if the parents don't have any. However, they may also not appear, even if the parents have them. The chances of mutations appearing are fairly low, so if you're trying for one of these results, don't get discouraged! If you're curious about how the mutations might affect the offspring's stats, please see the offspring stats page for more information.
More mutations will be added as they are discovered.

Lotine Breedings[img alt=" " style="max-width:100%;" src="https://hxrv2.neocities.org/MML/lotine_1.gif"] Lotines can be bred to produce Lola. These breedings are free, and do not require any items. Each individual Lotine may be bred once per month. You may adopt a free Lotine here by copying the image code above, or: To breed a Lotine: Lola, produced from Lotine breedings, are an immature form of Lotine that do not grow naturally on their own. They come in a variety of set colors and patterns depending on the quality of care given to the Lotine parent. There are several factors that can affect Lotine quality (aka color and patterns). The quality of the Lolas they produce can be improved with the following: - Starting with a rarer breed of Lotine.
- Using Lotine food purchased from Nature's Bounty. Food items are not 'consumed' after use and can be used indefinitely, but you can only use one food item per breeding.
- Proficiency with certain gardening skills.
- A stronger bond between the character and their Lotine.
Items for Lotine Breedings Items are not required to breed Lotine, but some items can be used to enhance or change your results. Aside from Lotine Food to boost quality, the following items can also be used for Lotine breedings: Magical Berry | Harvested from Leaf-Scatters.
When fed to a Lotine, will produce a single uniquely colored Lola. The berry is consumed in the process.
| Lolatic | Acquired by using a Jar of Lomites, which are sometimes found when Gardening.
Lolatics are creatures in their own right, but can be attached to a Lotine for some 'special effects'.
Once this is done, the Lolatic becomes permanently attached to the Lotine. This process cannot be reversed, so choose wisely!

Pachee Breedings Pachee are a strange mix of plant and animal that are able to breed for free without the use of items. Pachee are sexually dimorphic: Males have stamens on their tails, while females have a slit on their foreheads. In order to breed, a male Pachee shakes his pollen into the air, and the female closes her eyes and opens the slit on her forehead to accept the pollen. To breed your Pachee: Acquiring Pachee Where do you get your hands on some Pachee to start breeding? The common males are free to adopt by copying the code below: [img src="https://hxrv2.neocities.org/pachee/pachee_male.gif" alt=" "] Additionally: - Nature's Bounty sells many kinds of Pachee, including females and offspring.
- Special males are sometimes found as creature encounters while Gardening, or occasionally appear for trade at Curious Collections.
- If you have a lot of garden items, you can get some interesting males from the Pachee Pollen Project.
- The Contest Hall offers some special Pachee as prizes.
- You can purchase customized males from Rainbow Factory.
- Users may invite you to participate in a breeding with their Pachee, or they may be willing to lend you some.
Special female Pachee are only available through breedings. They cannot be bought or created in any other way. Items for Pachee Breedings The following items can be used for Pachee breedings. You may use only one of each per breeding. You are not required to use any items in your Pachee breedings. Pachee Berry, Masculinity | Increases the chances of the male Pachee passing their markings onto offspring.
Bought from Nature's Bounty.
| Pachee Berry, Feminity | Increases the chances of producing female offspring. Females are rarer than males.
Bought from Nature's Bounty.
| Pachee Berry, Abundance | Increases the quantity of offspring produced.
Bought from Nature's Bounty.
| Magical Berry | Adds a special marking and/or coloring to some offspring.
Harvested from Leaf-Scatters.
| Harvested Items | Items harvested from garden creatures can be used in Pachee breedings to produce special mutations.
Items that can be used: Magic Acorn, Toxic Sludge, All Mussimander Mushrooms, Vibrant Plume Grass, Toxic Berries, Fallen Leaves, Healing Berries, Succulent Seeds

Wishing Stars With a pastel wishing star, you can design one of the offspring in your Pachee breeding yourself! To use a wishing star, include the item in the first post, and include a picture of your design and/or describe the design you want to the best of your ability. Rules: If you are unsure, you may send a message to Silver to ask if the design is acceptable before using your wishing star. Addendum: Potion of Chi-Chi Pachee are delivered as their mature stage, but you can 'regress' your Pachee into a smaller, immature form with a Potion of Chi-Chi. The potion may be purchased from Nature's Bounty. Once purchased, post in the Potion Use Thread to use. The potion works on any Pachee, but mutations such as wings and antlers disappear when regressed. Immature Pachee can't breed, and the effect is non-reversible, so use with caution! Addendum: Genderless Pachee Rarely, a genderless Pachee may be born, especially when experimenting with strange items. These Pachee do not have tail stamen or a forehead slit, and cannot be bred.

|
Wishing Stars With a pastel wishing star, you can design one of the offspring in your Orbaru breeding yourself! To use a wishing star, include the item in the first post, and include a picture of your design and/or describe the design you want to the best of your ability. Rules: If you are unsure, you may send a message to Silver to ask if the design is acceptable before using your wishing star. Addendum: Immature Orbaru Maybe your breeding was a little bit rushed, and you've wound up with one of these immature Orbaru offspring. These guys won't grow on their own, but they can be prompted into growing by purchasing an Orbaru Booster Potion from Nature's Bounty. Once you have the potion, make a post in the Potion Use Thread to apply it to your Orbaru. Orbaru grown this way will be normal adult v3s. But then, maybe you have the opposite problem. What if an immature Orbaru is what you're looking for? In that case, purchase an Anti-Growth Potion from the Herbologist's Delight instead. Once you have the potion, make a post in the Potion Use Thread to apply it to your adult Orbaru to regress them into baby or juvie stage.

Draconic Breedings Unlike the other creatures in this tutorial, Draconics have their own society and are not considered 'pets'. Draconics have their own tutorial detailing their lore, how to adopt them, etc. Since Draconics can also breed with one another to produce offspring, we'll cover the breeding process here. Selecting Draconics for Breedings The standards for selecting Draconics to pair with one another are a bit more stringent than with other breedables. Be sure to check the following: - The Draconics being bred cannot be living in the same lair (ie with the same character).
-- Note that it is possible for one character to 'borrow' a Draconic from a different character's lair, so long as they have permission to do so. However, a breeding must always involve two different accounts. - Draconics are not sexually dimorphic, but breedings still require one biological male* and one biological female.
- Draconics cannot be inbred within three generations. In other words, they cannot have a common ancestor within three generations. Please check the Draconic Geneaology thread before breeding your Draconics.
*Draconics can learn magic, and females can become biologically male for a short span of time using the Trick of the Incubi spell, allowing them to act as the 'male' breeder. However, the spell's duration is too short to allow males to act as females and carry eggs to term.Wishing Stars With a patterned wishing star, you can design one of the offspring in your Draconic breeding yourself! To use a wishing star, include the item in the first post, and include a picture of your design or describe the design you want to the best of your ability. Rules: If you are unsure, you may send a message to Silver to ask if the design is acceptable before using your wishing star.

Harachiu Breedings Harachiu are a race of small fairies that were imported from beyond the labs years ago. While uncommon in the past, they have come to establish a small population in The Labs City, and some people have come to find themselves matchmaking these tiny creatures. As they are a sapient species, they cannot just be put in a room for twenty minutes to get some babies from them as with other species. Instead, a couple needs time to get to know each other and fall in love - or at least come to tolerate each other - before you can expect a baby to be born. Harachiu may not produce offspring right away. Instead, they go on "dates", each one a separate thread that has a chance of producing a baby. Each thread must be fifteen posts long, and at the end of it, a staff member will inform you whether or not the breeding was successful. This chance goes up with each date, and offspring are guaranteed at the end of the tenth date. Every successful breeding produces exactly two offspring, with no way to increase the number of offspring produced. Take this opportunity to tell a story! After all, as intelligent creatures, each Harachiu has a different personality. What situations do they get into? What do they like and dislike about their partner? Does this tie into a particular plot you're writing? Have fun with it. Dates are a great way for them to get to know each other! The date does not necessarily need to "take place" within the breeding center, and can instead be set anywhere in The Labs City setting. Feel free to get creative with how they meet and what they do on the date. If a date fails, you are not obligated to try again right away, nor do you need to try again with the same couple. The "date number" is maintained for a particular couple until they produce offspring, even if one of the parents has children with another harachiu in the meantime. Harachiu can be acquired in one of two ways. The first is by gardening. After all, harachiu are closely linked to flowers. If you are very lucky, you just might find a flower bud containing a baby harachiu while working on your gardens. The breeds that can be acquired in this way are Yin, Yang, Terrain, and Issen harachiu, with a different harachiu breed available each season. The second method is by purchase in The Hunter's Lodge. The Pixie and Brownie breeds are VSC, meaning that you can purchase them the same way as any other VSC. If you want to find one, you'll have to hire an expert! These breeds cost 250. The final method is by purchasing a custom. This service is available from The Fairy Ring. Items for Harachiu Breedings Mystic Blossom | Allows harachiu that cannot naturally have offspring to go on dates and produce offspring. Acts as a magic "gestation pod" for the offspring.
Can be acquired for free from The Fairy Ring. | Enigmatic Blossom | Allows a sapient creature to produce offspring with a harachiu. The resulting children will be harachiu with normal stats, but may have interesting appearances.
Can be purchased from The Fairy Ring. |
